We were re-routed to Beaches Negril after originally booking at Beaches Boscobel. As compensation for moving (at Beaches' request), we were upgraded to a Honeymoon Suite room.
We stayed for a week, and we were very glad for the upgraded room. It was not a suite in the traditional sense-- it was just one big room with a sofa bed, and an added cot (we had two adults and three children-- 7, 10 and 13-- in the room). The room was big enough for us, and it was nice to be able to go back to the room and hang out when we wanted to get out of the sun. Concierge service was very nice to have, but I don't know if I would have paid for it if it wasn't already included. Fridge was restocked within an hour of making a request-- you can get beer wine, bottles of liquor. No prolems with the restocking that some others here noted.
Beach is gorgeous-- looks just like the website photos (except no starfish when we were there-- I guess the storms drove them off). Yes, you have to deal with the jet ski guys, and that does get a little old. Waterpark is smaller than Boscobel-- two slides and a lazy river (my ten-year old lived in the lazy river), but still nice and clean and well maintained.
Pool bars were ok. The one by the big pool always had a funky smell-- like the trash needed to be emptied. Other bar by the piazza was fine. Bartenders were not as attentive as I would have liked, and they were stingy with the liquor unless you remembered to ask them for a double. Even after tipping them a few extra bucks, the service improved, but not dramatically.
Food and restaurants were very good-- I don't think we had a bad meal. They do some fun things like serve dinner under a big tent on the beach. Servers were very good-- I think we only had one meal where we had slow service-- not bad for a full week. There was always something for the kids to eat if they were not feeling adventurous.
There were a lot of weddings going on while we were there. We talked to a few people who were there for weddings and they had no complaints.
Excursions-- we had one trip into Negril with mixed results. Suffice to say that I don't really recommend going to Negril unless you are just going to a specific location like Rick's or Margaritaville. There didn't seem to be a "downtown" location geared to tourists. We also went to Kool Runnings-- a small waterpark located across from Beaches Sandy Bay, which you can get to via a 5 minute shuttle ride.
Overall, we had close to a 5-star experience because of the great room and concierge service, but if you are going to be staying in one of the smaller rooms, it is realisitcally more like four stars.
