We were re-routed to Beaches Negril after originally booking at Beaches Boscobel. As compensation for moving (at Beaches' request), we were upgraded to a Honeymoon Suite room.

We stayed for a week, and we were very glad for the upgraded room. It was not a suite in the traditional sense-- it was just one big room with a sofa bed, and an added cot (we had two adults and three children-- 7, 10 and 13-- in the room). The room was big enough for us, and it was nice to be able to go back to the room and hang out when we wanted to get out of the sun. Concierge service was very nice to have, but I don't know if I would have paid for it if it wasn't already included. Fridge was restocked within an hour of making a request-- you can get beer wine, bottles of liquor. No prolems with the restocking that some others here noted.

Beach is gorgeous-- looks just like the website photos (except no starfish when we were there-- I guess the storms drove them off). Yes, you have to deal with the jet ski guys, and that does get a little old. Waterpark is smaller than Boscobel-- two slides and a lazy river (my ten-year old lived in the lazy river), but still nice and clean and well maintained.

Pool bars were ok. The one by the big pool always had a funky smell-- like the trash needed to be emptied. Other bar by the piazza was fine. Bartenders were not as attentive as I would have liked, and they were stingy with the liquor unless you remembered to ask them for a double. Even after tipping them a few extra bucks, the service improved, but not dramatically.

Food and restaurants were very good-- I don't think we had a bad meal. They do some fun things like serve dinner under a big tent on the beach. Servers were very good-- I think we only had one meal where we had slow service-- not bad for a full week. There was always something for the kids to eat if they were not feeling adventurous.

There were a lot of weddings going on while we were there. We talked to a few people who were there for weddings and they had no complaints.

Excursions-- we had one trip into Negril with mixed results. Suffice to say that I don't really recommend going to Negril unless you are just going to a specific location like Rick's or Margaritaville. There didn't seem to be a "downtown" location geared to tourists. We also went to Kool Runnings-- a small waterpark located across from Beaches Sandy Bay, which you can get to via a 5 minute shuttle ride.

Overall, we had close to a 5-star experience because of the great room and concierge service, but if you are going to be staying in one of the smaller rooms, it is realisitcally more like four stars.

I had read some negative feedback about Beaches Negril and found NONE of it to be true! From the minute we got through customs ,which was time consuming, we were treated like royalty. Our every need was taken care of promptly.Rooms were clean and kept well stocked. I forgot to lock up my jewelry one day and it wasn't touched .We found the food to be quite good. Activities for my grandkids were non stop ,if we could get them out of the lazy river! Loved the staff! Friendly, bright smiling faces.I could just go on and on about our terrific vacation .We came home and immediately started planning our next trip. Let me just end by saying I left my heart in Jamaica.

It did indeed. We stayed at Beaches Negril for 10 nights and we all (4 of us) had a great time.
Our girls ( 2 and 4,5 years) loved every minute of it. The kids club and nursery staff are friendly and looked after the children well. Our two girls were happy to go to the club/nursery; sometimes we would stay with them and other times we would leave them for half and hour or an hour. They enjoyed the activities and made bracelets, bandanas, puppets etc. My girls had never heard of Sesamestreet before (we live in the UK) but were best friends with all after just 10 minutes on the first day.
The Watersports team is great and know what they are doing. They looked after us and we had a great time. The first two days of our stay all water activities were cancelled but only because Tomas had just passed by. So bear this in mind if you decide to go during hurricane season or indeed in a month were heavy rainfall is expected (country is not lush and green for nothing).
The entertainment team does try to keep you entertained if you really want/need to. The evening entertainment was professional although mostly too late for us as the girls were crashed out by 8pm.
Food: well I was worried about the food as a veggie but I was pleased that the food was good. The Italian and Japanese were good (only visited ones) but the Tex mex was a burger place with all things fried. However, with two young children the Mills was actually better than I had hoped. Lots of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner ( veggie, fish, healthy, kids choices, fruit) and lovely cakes and desserts. A variety juices and smoothies and even the wine was ok. On some days the food was excellent ( especially when the hotel is full) but we had one day were everything tasted just not right. Must have been a different team in the kitchen and it was not very busy in the resort that day. I wonder if that's why the food was better when the resort was full. If you want to eat fried food then you can but there is plenty of healthy food both for kids (eg pasta, pizza, patatoes with fish and chicken, steamed vegetables, fruit salads, crudites etc) and adults.
We had a great time at the Beach Party which the hotel threw and staff worked very hard to make that happen.

There is however, a problem with security I think. Every time we left the room ( 3rd floor) we made sure we locked the balcony door but on several occasions we returned to the room only to find the door not locked. Housekeeping must have left it unlocked when they cleaned the balcony. We did not report this as nothing was taken and we used the safe throughout our stay. The safe is small but our Ipad, camera, ereader etc just fit. Laptop would probably not have fitted in.

We also had a problem with renovations in the rooms next door to us. We had to leave the room as it was not bearable. The hotel apologised but do find out before you check in because we had constant drilling and banging for two days with dust everywhere. Luckily it was great weather and we spent most of those days on the beach or by the pool.

There is also a problem with people putting towels on pool site seats at 7am and not using the seats/towels all day. This really annoyed us but in the end we just had to move the towels to have a seat. Most of the seat were not 'occupied' anyway. The hotel management promissed to look into a solution for this problem but perhaps guests can think about what they doing too.

We did not make any trips as the prices for the trips were ridiculous to be honest . We took a short taxi ride to Time Square ( 8 minutes ride, don't bother) which would have costed 60 US dollar but in the end we did not pay for the little ones. One travelbook mentioned that this ride should cost 10 dollars but the hotel set the prices and we decided not to use services at these overinflated prices. With two young children we did not want to go out and try our luck in finding alternatives tours outside the resort.

The Spa is ok, not cheap and not the best but ok if you can use the daily deals.

The beach was beautiful and after Tomas, staff worked hard to clean the beach.

Overall, we really had a great time at the resort, especially since the people working at the resort do try their best and look after you. We had 10 days of sun and I am sure that helped too. We would all love to go back and maybe try Boscobel or Turks next time

If you are travelling with children to Jamaica then this is the hotel to stay at. Everything they could wish to do is here. The Kids Camp staff are very friendly and adjust the timetable to suit the children and what they want to do. This leaves you the freedom to relax knowing they are having fun and are safe.

The rooms could be bigger with more storage, but for the amount of time you spend in them it is not a big issue.

The beach location is fantastic with one of the cleanest beaches we had every seen, some mornings the staff were raking the beach! The watersports are free and enjoyable.

We would recommend you visit all the restaurants on site as each one has its own good points, but the Burger bar does do some of the best burgers we have tasted!

The weather in October was changeable, with some heavy thunderstorms but mostly these were in the late afternoon and did not spoil our enjoyment during the day.

Everything you need is on the complex to make this a great holiday.

My husband and I traveled with our 14 month old daughter. We loved the service and found the people working at the resort to be very friendly. However, the rooms and the resort don't look as nice as the pictures on the Beaches Negril website. The buildings are a bit outdated and the rooms are not as clean or nice. I was a bit disappointed when we checked into our room. From our 'beach front room' we could hardly see the beach. When we ask, they told us 'none of our rooms face directly to the beach'...go figure.

Jamaica is beautiful and I would go back but not to this resort. We stayed here for 9 days and got robbed of $190 over the 9 days. We reported it and nothing was done. We had locked our wallets in the room safe and then put the key in my purse, put my purse in my suitcase and put clothes in on top of it all. If you are staying in this resort make sure you take your safe key with you where ever you go!!!!
