Did the kids love it ? Yes. Did the parents enjoy it ? Yes. Did we get our money's worth, doubt it. Very simply, Beaches Negril does not live up to the price that it charges. Our first clue that Beaches did not have its act together appeared at the airport in Montego Bay. We arrived at the Beaches/Sandals lounge after clearing customs. It was nice and air conditioned and we had a cold drink. We were only there about 10 minutes when a beaches representative told us our transportation was ready. We were escorted outside in the heat to a waiting area where some jamaicans were playing dominoes and yelling. We sat there with our two young boys (ages 3 and 5) for about 35-40 minutes in the heat before a bus arrived. Why we were not allowed to stay in the lounge is a mystery and my kids were a little frightened by these very loud jamaican men arguing at each other. The food at Beaches Negril is OK. The bufffet at times was very good, but it seemed like the same food over and over. For the most part we survived on the Pizza. For the price we paid I was expecting the sort of variety of meals one would find on a cruise, but we were disappointed. The Kids Camp was a nice and the kids enjoyed hanging out with other kids, but most of the staff did not truly interact with the kids. One Kids Camp counselor did interact well, but the others just stood around and watched. We were very disappointed with the Sesame Street characters, which appeared rarely and were used mostly for photo opportunities with beaches photographers so they could sell you a picture. There was only one character parade per week on Friday night, but our vacation was Sat-Thurs. There should have been at least one other character parade during the week to accomodate those with less than at full week's stay. The other shows at Beaches were mediocre and lacked production quality. A Beaches Negril Staff/Visitor talent show is not my idea of a great entertainment. We enjoyed the water park which consisted of two water slides and the not so Lazy river, but we found that it closed much too early in the afternoon - 4:30pm. In addition, they closed down the water park from Noon to 1pm. I did speak to several visitors from the Northeast, who complained that the resort restaurants should be opened earlier than scheduled for Supper. Most opened at 6pm Central. If you're from the eastern time zone, that's 7pm. In conclusion, we did have a good time, but we would not stay at Beaches again.
