Merrils Beach Resort II

I was booked for Merrils 3 ; when I got there ... guess what ? no room at merrils 3. I had to go to Merrils 2. The receptionist said that Merrils 3 is closing soon and the rooms were all filled. Whatever. I'm now at Merrils 2. I had to pay 18.00 US for a safe key that did'nt work. They had to get another key and mr. fixit to come up to show me how to jiggle the lock to make it open and close. Through all this I missed lunch. Thanks !
The room was fine 2 beds. clean and a good view of the dining area and the sea. Not bad. Great location on the beach, great location on the street. convinience store nearby and lots to eat on the beach. The food at Merrils is terrible. very bad. The staff is inexperienced and indifferent. No hot water one day and the water pressure is very weak. I only stayed there for 3 nights and that was quite enough.

If you're looking for a vacation to lovely Jamaica on the cheap then this is the place for you. Great beach, lots of vendors( they're very nice) lots of Jamaican home grown and plenty of gigolos. Just say a firm no if you're not interested and they will move on. All in all I love Jamaica, but I will not stay at merrils again.

Yes they charge for wifi and 1/2 the time it did'nt work. I heard complaints from some guests.

Room Tip: The rooms closest to the beach are best.

This was my second trip to Merrils II, but it had been 12 years since I traveled to Jamaica. We were so glad that we went back. Staff are wonderful, food was good and met a lot of great people while we were there. Don't expect a 5 star resort when you go but you will always be treated like you are at a 5 star resort.

Room Tip: Small resort no matter what room you get you are only 150 ft. from the water.

Stayed at Merril's II Feb. 2 - 9th and would definitely go back. Rooms were very clean & quiet. There was no electric outlet in the bathroom though. Food was decent. And if you don't see something you like, there's lots of food options on the beach. And with the price being so low to stay at Merril's you'll have extra money to support other businesses on the beach !! Even though Merril's III has been sold, we could still use all 3 resorts. There is a $3 a day fee for use of the safe. They have an internet in the lobby for $2 for 20 minutes. I really don't think there is a "bad" room on the property. Being such a small place, you're only "steps away" from the pool, buffet, and the road - you won't hear the cars though. We're from the U.S., and don't speak any other language, so we really couldn't communicate with others staying at the resort. But had lots of fun with the bartenders - Taneesha & Rocky @ Merril's I, and Fitz and Wayne / Elwayne and Jason at Merril's III. While on 7 Mile, we did a sunset cruise on the Tortuga catamaran for $50 - well worth it. Only 14 of us on the boat, with an open bar, and fun staff !! Also did the "One Love Bus Tour", also a fun time. Free bus ride to 6 or 7 little bars on the road to the cliffs, ending with a sunset :) Had an excellent week on 7 mile beach ~ looking forward to our return trip.

Room Tip: We were in 702 and were very happy with the location - I don' think there's a bad room on th...

Merrill II was nice, and a good value. The food was good, not super gormet, but good basic cooking. The drinks were fine. All the staff were friendly and helpful. II has the least beach, but you can go to I and III, a couple of minute's walk either way. I would stay here again!

Merrils II was a great resort! The food and drinks were tasty and since there are three Merrils resorts along the beach we were able to go to any of them for dinner or drinks. Our room was clean and there were relatively no bugs - we encountered some ants off and on, but they weren't too bad. The staff was friendly and they were helpful in getting us a cab to go up to Rick's Cafe (which I suggest everyone does!!). Overall we had a great time and have recommended it to friends of our planning trips to Jamaica!

Room Tip: Since Merrils was less expensive than other all inclusive resorts we were able to stay in an ocean f...

This is a Jamaican owned all-inclusive. It was well run, if somewhat slow service housekeeping sometimes, there was great variety in the food. Our rooms were clean, no bugs, the staff was attentive to cleanliness in the room and on the grounds. Jamaica is a developing country but the British-influenced service was very good. We sat on our balcony at night and played cards, walked to the local malls to buy tshirt souvenirs etc, and went across the street to Miss Pearl's to get fresh squeezed orange juice every morning. We were never worried at night as security was good at both the street end and the beach end. We got up and got our seats at the beach early every day, had breakfast then hit the beach. Lots of Italians, Germans, almost no Americans. We are Canadian and appreciated tea in the afternoon. Loved the BBQ chicken and Jerk food, the fresh fruit, the omelette every morning. We are going back in 2012.

Room Tip: This year we are paying extra for ocean-side rooms, Ask for rooms closer to the beach because the s...

Visited Merrils in July with my sister. We had a great time and the beach and sea are lovely.
The people are very friendly and we were able to relax with plenty of Rhum drinks and good food in this family run all inclusive resort.
Great for getaways.
