I really enjoyed my stay at Bar-B-Barn. The staff is wonderful and nice, the atmosphere is absolutely wonderful. Clean rooms, good breakfast, perfect location. I'd definitely go back there!
If you don't enjoy late evening concerts, you may be disturbed by the music coming from the next door club. It didn't bother me at all cause I LOVED those reggae nights.
When you book your transfer, ask for a shuttle bus, it's only 25$. If you book a cab even through reception, watch out and ask for a 60$ transfer (per car, not per person) cause those drivers will make you bankrupt. I paid 80$, some people paid 60$ and some paid 100$ and more for their airport transfer one way. So be careful!
On the whole, it was a wonderful stay. Nice people, perfect location, lots of activities within walking distance. Perfect weather...
Mike, the security guy, is very nice. So are the guys working at the bar. You may ask Mike for contacts of people who can arrange tours for you, he'll advise you on some nice tour guides. Do leave a tip for him, he's very good at getting those beach chairs out every morning for you and putting fresh flowers on the breakfast tables. He even chased away rasta men and hustlers from me))) thank you, Mike!
yes, there's hustling on the beach but they just ask you if you want fruit, juice, shells, etc and if you say no they will most likely leave you alone.
Be careful going back from concerts at night though. Some rasta men get kind of pushy and aggressive so try to walk back with a company, not alone and pretend you don't speak any English

Room Tip: for some reason flat-screen TV next door didn't work. Mine was not a flat screen but worked perf...

This small gentle place was recommended by a friend's mum - and we enjoyed it too. The location was good - it is on the beach, opposite a mall with ATM, and a few doors down from the Knutsford Express coach stop. And it has wi-fi.

All staff were helpful (the manager particularly so), there were pretty plantings along the path from Reception to the accommodation and beach, and the beach is lovely! (note: the sea is shallow, totally flat (no waves at all!), no sea-weed, and white sands...). Yes there was noise from next door (reggae), but I think that was largely tied to the Independence celebrations. Anyway, for us that was all part of the experience, and we didn't lose any sleep.

Swimming in the sunset was a memorable experience, as was the huge ray that came along to swim in the shallows one evening, following a storm. During the day I was grateful for shade of Bar-B-Barn's palm parasols, their recliners, and the presence of Bar-B-Barn staff, who made sure that altho it was easy to talk to many beach hawkers if you want to, they were never a hassle.
Found the jetskis zooming up and down the beach noisy and off-putting - I wanted to swim beyond the small marked zone, but wasn't convinced I'd be safe. That's not a Bar-B-Barn issue, that'd be the same wherever you are on that beach.

We had a room with 3 beds, fridge (on request - was really useful), tv, properly-working a-c (nice!), and bathroom. Was basic, but clean, and fun (had a mural on one wall) and that's all we needed. Would've been helpful to have hooks for mosquito nets.

Breakfast (included) was good, but service was v slow...not a prob for us, but worth knowing. The Jamaican breakfast (ackee and saltfish, callaloo and festival) was v oily, but tasty. My Teenage sons tried various options (usually involving bacon), and enjoyed them, but always needed extra carbs.

Thank you for a great place to stay, and for arranging our driver for Rick's Cafe, YS Falls, and the Appleton Rum estate.

Our friend knows the owner and we got an amazing deal, so I am very greatful for that.
We got a chance to see Negril, and the ocean was beyond amazing. The room is small, but we did get a fridge upon request, and we had cable TV. The A/C did not work very well, there were a lot of bugs, and the sink area was very small. The Reggae club next door kept us awake all night long, and there are tons of hagglers on the beach trying to sell you anything from vegetables to crafts to drugs. I would prefer something a bit more private. There is a gate man along the street, but anyone could walk in from the beach. The breakfast was decent, and included with the room. It was hard to get extra towels from the maids, and "Dr. Mike" was "trying" to help us (by rolling the batteries around instead of replacing them in the A/C remote), but he actually knocked on our door when he was leaving for the day to make sure he got a tip from us. We are glad we got to experience Negril here, but we would prefer to stay in Ocho at Chrisanns again if we come back to Jamaica. Oh, we also drove to Ivan's for dinner one night at Catcha Falling Star Resort - which seemed a little nicer.

Nice small hotel with a great location on seven mile beach. Only gripe about the location is Bourbon Street next store. Reggae till all hours. If you’re a light sleeper and don’t keep late hours, definitely a consideration. Very pleasant staff, can’t recall a long face among them. The breakfast is not bad at all. Omelets, bacon and eggs, fruit plates and a Jamaican style breakfast that my girlfriend loved, she had it 4 of 5 mornings. Angelas Italian resturant on site has a pretty fair pizza, I fair bit of variety on the menu, but we just had the pizza twice. we just had the pizza twice. I checked out some of the other hotels on the beach (not much else to do) and yes you can find nicer, but you will have to pay up for it. The rooms were clean and adequate not to mention spacious; but certainly not fancy. The AC worked well, no issue there. I think you’ll be hard pressed to find better for the money. Sorry BBB about the slam on the Reggae, but I had to be honest.

Beautiful beach hotel at the 7 mile beach,well- maintained, but nothing fancy . Location is great, walking distance from Negril downtown and not far from Rick's cafe ( with taxi). the staff were very friendly and helpful. free breakfast was good ( try Jamaican breakfast). these were two security guards, one in the beach side and the other in the street side, very friendly and nice. Just try to talk to the to the hotel front desk if you need to go to the river or YS falls, we went there in a big bus (just us) cost us $55 each for transportation.

Went here for breakfast every morning as we stayed in a unit opposite, food and service very good, went there for dinner but won't return again due to the attitude and miserable face of sharine who worked that shift, never met another Jamaican who was so rude. Other than her the service and food was good with reasonable prices.

Just got home from a week long stay at the Bar-B-Barn. Was the best time of my life. The entire staff was excellent, the food was amazing, and the beach view is breathtaking. We literally ate a few feet off the beach and every need we had was taken care of by the staff with a smile. The bar is one of the most relaxing beach bars you will ever sit at and Cherice and Tracee make amazing Pina Coladas. The security guard Mike was a tremendous help in finding us excursions to go on and ended up becoming a close personal friend. Overall the stay was amazing and when we left it felt like leaving family. I am a repeat customer for life and am looking forward to an extended stay next year. I would recommend Bar-B-Barn to anyone who is looking for a beautiful relaxing island vacation.
