Had the opportunity to stay at the Banana Shout for 7 days. Needles to say it was the best 7 days ever. Milo and Marianne made us feel welcome the second we stepped in the door. My buddy and i stayed in the Red Rooster, which in my opinion is the most relaxed spot on the west end. With a perfect view of the sunsets every night and the ability to jump in the ocean whenever we wanted we couldn't have asked for more. Located close by is Ricks cafe and LTU Pub which were both great places to hang out and chill. We found it much more fun to sit and relax at the Banana instead of going where every tourist was. Plug and Jerome were more than happy to help with anything and everything we needed. It was great relaxing with them after a long day of laying in the sun, sharing stories and drinking Red Stripes. I cant express enough how relaxed and comfortable we were when we reached the Banana Shout. Just out the gate there are plenty of local shops and food huts waiting to be tried out. Getting in touch with the true local feel of Negril was the best part the vacation. All we had to do was walk out the front gate and explore. Cant wait to return to Jamaica ! It will definitely include a stay at the Banana Shout.

Thank You!!
Jim

This was my husband and I’s 6th trip to Negril and our second stay at Banana Shout and once again it was a wonderful experience. As soon as walked through the big yellow gate and saw everyone, it felt like we had come back home.

What we love most is the vibe at Banana Shout. Milo and Marianne make you feel at home the moment you arrive. If you want to experience Negril and the local flavor, this is the place. Do not expect anything fancy, but their cottages have everything you need and most importantly the most amazing views and proximity to the water. Yes, there are other properties with more amenities and we have stayed at them, but Banana Shout just has a wonderful laid-back feeling.

We returned to Dolphin Bay for 3 nights and then moved over to Tree House. Dolphin Bay is a quaint, rustic cottage on the edge of the cliffs with outstanding views and the most comfortable bed around.

Tree House is set back behind Dolphin View and the accommodations are on the second floor (no one below you to worry about) with a beautiful view. Tree House is completely unique and unlike any other cottage we have ever stayed in. It literally is like having a big Tree House to yourself. The balcony is huge including 2 comfy hammocks and a table set. The large bi-fold doors open up completely so your entire little cottage is open to the sea.

I spent many hours in the hammock at Dolphin Bay and Tree House chilling with a great book (Sunset Negril) and an ice cold Red Stripe or two. At night my husband and I would chill on our deck, listen to the waves crashing against the cliffs and play card and dice games all night. We do not go on vacation to watch TV. Love just listening to our iPod and being together.

Milo is a great cook and loves to cook for his guests. The jerk chicken dinner was excellent and his spaghetti lunch was amazing.

Marianne is a sweetheart, wonderful hostess and someone I consider a friend. My husband and I could stay anywhere we wish, however, the great rustic cottages and Milo and Marianne are why we return to Banana Shout. Plug, is a wonderful caretaker of the property. He takes pride in Banana Shout and it shows. Plug works from sun up to sundown and will accommodate you in anyway or fix anything that needs fixing. Negril’s own McGyver (McPlug). Oh and we just love hanging out and talking with him.

There are plenty of places to walk for a bite to eat and a convenience store right across the street.

Rick’s is directly next door and Ivan’s is a must for at least dinner one evening. LTU Pub is a couple doors down and Shark’s has great jerk chicken.

We spend 4 great days at Banana Shout with Milo and Marianne. Banana Shout is truly a unique experience. We felt like we were part of a family staying there. Once walking though their gates, you are secluded from the hussle and bussle of the Negril streets. Since there are only 4 cottages on the whole property, it gives you privacy with the ability to get to know the other guests. Banana Shout is next door to Rick's Cafe, therefore there was no need to go there, we could sit in peace on the cliffs over looking the sea, watch the sun set, and listen to the music at Ricks', while drinking our own Red Stripe. The staff at Banana Shout were wonderful, Plug seems to know everything there is to know about anything. He was there from dawn to dusk everyday, always willing to help when someone calls. His doctor experience was much appreciated when treating my b-friends feet after stepping on sea urchines. They call him Dr. Plug... Thank you Plug for everything. Milo & Marianne, the owners are wonderful people. We spent our last afternoon with them, seeing things off the beaten path and touring Littlebay. A little dune-buggy activity on the beach was fun.
Outside the gates are many places to eat within a short walking distance, experience the real Jamaica outside the all inclusive resorts. It is a truly wonderful place, talk to the local people and support the small businesses, you won't be disappointed.
On a final note, we stayed in the Tree House, perfect for a couple. There are basic cooking facilities, whatever you might be missing you can get from the communal kitchen. It has the best view on the property and the largest porch with 2 hammocks. We were given the chance to upgrade to one of the cottages closer to the cliffs, but preferred where we were. I can't say enough good things about Banana Shout, it was a wonderful place to stay with a personal touch. We hope to return to see everyone again soon and wish them all the best.

Gord & Tammie

Room Tip: The Tree House was paradise

If I could own my little piece of Jamaica, this would be it.
A bright, breezy bungalow, just feet from the water and
cliffs, with a backdrop of lush greenery and flowers.

You are almost forced to relax. We felt so comfortable
that we actually canceled some plans, just so we could sit
and take in the view. Watch the fisherman work their traps
just offshore. Keep a lookout for crusing dolphins. The water
here was so clear, you could clearly see the bottom, even by
moonlite. Dont pass up the snorkling.......and the sunsets. Wow!
Its no wonder the west end is famous for sunsets, and you cant pick
a better spot to see them.

Skip the the sterile all inclusives, and the boring buffets. Just outside
the entrance are many great local places to eat with real Jamaican
cusine. Rub elbows with the locals, they are warm and friendly.
Check out the local bars, and try your hand at a game of dominos.

Some reviews say that your are treated like family. I think its better
than that....more like lifetime friends. Milo & Marianne and staff are
fantastic. Plug (the busyist man in Jamaica) took my wife (a flower freak)
on a tour of the gardens, identifying, and explaining the local uses of
individual plants. All the staff would take time to simply chat with you.
Its amazing what you can learn about Jamaica, and its culture.

Get Milo to cook for you .....fantastico!!!!!

Thnaks Milo & Marianne for the highlite of our vacation. We will be back.
And Milo...........you better marry that gal quick, before some good looking
guy discovers her.

Second time here in two years, all around great experience. You are treated like family and the price is great (offseason) for what you get. We spent a few days on Negril beach in addtion to this west end location, and next time we shall not even bother staying at Negril beach(because you pay twice as much and its a total tourist location). Stay at Banana Shout in the West End of Negril and you will have a more relaxed and true Jamaican experience all around. Then just take a taxi to the beach if you want a bit of sand under the toes.
