“Love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2009

We got married at Coco Lapalm. It was beautiful. Its on the best part of the white sandy beach. Very laid back, relaxing, and low key. Staff was very accomodating. Made my day special! We were looking for a place to get married in JA and settled on CoCo Lapalm. I'm glad we did because the other hotels didn't seem nearly as intimate. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We had the honeymoon suite. LUV the tub! I have some incredible memories that wouldn't have been quite as nice at another hotel. Sure its not Sandals or RIU, but if you are looking for laid back, boutiqish type hotel on the beach. This is the place to go. Beautiful gardens very kept up. And the Best is the West across the street has the best jerk chicken in Negril! Just don't eat it in your wedding dress ;)

We spent a week at the Coco La Palm in Negril this past july and enjoyed the hospitality and location of a great jamaican hotel. We stayed in the old honeymoon suite above the bar area with a great view of the water from the balcony. the room was spotless and had a great ceiling. besides the tapesties being a little dated it was large, roomy and had a fridge, sink, and coffee maker.

the people at the coco are wonderful, everyone we met on the grounds and at the bar/restaurant was so kind, helpful and genuine. it was great to be at the coco because it has everything you need but is not an all inclusive so you are free to roam around and have experiences outside your hotel-- a must!

I've stayed at several properties in Negril. Coco La Palm was great! The two pools, jacuzzi, beach and Jamaican breakfasts were great!! I received the complimentary continental breakfast, but upgraded each morning to the Jamaican breakfast options. The breakfast food was amazing and worth the value! There is an excellent jerk shack across the street, which was extremely convenient and yummy for a low-budget meal late at night. Nothing like a cold Red Stripe and jerk chicken. The shower was huge with EXCELLENT water pressure, which was a nice treat! I loved the almond, sea grape, breadfruit and ackee trees on the property. The gardens were well kept and lush. The service was excellent as all staff members were very friendly and customer service oriented, which isn't always the case in Jamaica. I would definitely stay at Coco La Palm again!

We have been going back to CoCo every year for many years. Can't say enough. It's our home away from home. My family and I are so excited to return in December. We are counting the days.

We must be the only people in the world who would check out of a Beaches Negril Grande Lux Beachfront room and opt for a local small hotel like Coc La Palm but thats what we did. I know Jamaica well and booked Beaches simply because they had a single parent special and I am a recent widow and thought it woud be a fun place for my tween daughter. I didn't meet any other singles or even couples to talk to and for the price of the room there were only 3 drawers and a total lack of a beach view. We checked out and went to Coco La Palm and loved it. The staff is delightful and helpful. The othe guests were very friendly. Our room was inciredibly spacious and right on the beach. There was no hogging chaise lounges in the shade, and they did everything to help us explore even if we weren't going on one of THEIR tours, Some things were a bit lacking at Coco La Palm (a/c in one room of our suite didn't work well even after being "fixed" but the main a/c was so strong it did the job) and the restaurant is so-so for dinner. Our room was very pretty, with 2 bedroooms, living room, beachfront, fridge, tv and a huge patio. Everything was clean and comfortable. I would not describe it as elegant but the rooms are attractive and the grounds are lovely. Both the poolside rooms and beachfront rooms look nice. The second floor poolside rooms have huge balconies with chaise lounges.First floor rooms have patios with table and chairs. Everything is so convenient that I am not sure i would pay to upgrade to a beachfront room again but after the 3 nights at Beaches (aka Hotel California because they made it hard to check out) I really wanted my beach view. We would definitely choose Coco La Palm Again, Great beach bar and manager's cocktail party with live music too and within waking distance of good cheap food as well as some of the more upscale restaurants in Negril such as Norma's and the French restaurant at Charela Inn.

I stayed at CocoLaPalm for 3 nights and it was very sad to leave. We took the Knutsford Express Bus from Kingston (roundtrip for two - $7000 Jm), it was very comfortable despite the 4hr drive. Upon arriving at Montego Bay I should advise that the local taxis ridiculously overcharge tourists, so its much better to arrange with the hotel to send a driver to pick you up. The 1hr trip by taxi from Montego Bay to CocoLaPalm in Negril was $70US one way. When we got to the hotel the staff was very friendly and welcoming, we were shown to our room - a Deluxe room, king size bed, cable, small fridge, air condition etc... We were very pleased that the rooms were very very clean. The hotel is located right on the beach and there were always at least 2 security guards along the beachfront to rush away the hustlers. The beachfront, the view, the sunsets were absolutely fantastic. The hotel food was very good and reasonably priced. Across the main road from the hotel are a number of car rental places. It would be advisable to rent a car rather than to take a taxi when trying to move about Negril since the local taxis are ridiculously priced. We got a sedan from Elvis Car Rental for $45US per day. I'm an avid scuba diver but I would advise that diving in Negril is disappointing. The reefs are damaged and being exploited by the locals, even our divemaster from Negril Scuba Centre killed fish on each dive for his dinner! It was really really horrible. Sunsets at Rick's Cafe is a must see, the dinner was okish but the atmosphere really made you feel like you were on a holiday, they also have a really nice clothing store, and dont forget to look out for those crazy cliff divers- definitely make your heart skip a couple beats. We tried horseback riding with Rhodes Hall Plantation located at Green Island - (which is not an island) - it is about 30mins drive from CocoLaPalm Hotel and definitely worth checking out. They have 1 1/2 hr tours on horseback through the entire plantation - bushes, hills, on the beach, in the water. And the last part of the tour you're actually swimming with the horses, lying on their back while they swim... it was our first time horseback riding and it's something im going to try to do more often now! Alas my short stay in Negril ended, and it was really sad to leave such a beautiful place, the hotel arranged a really nice taxi back to Montego Bay for us where we got the Knutsford Express Bus back to Kingston.

Cocolapalm is right on the seven mile beach - what more can one ask for? It is a boutique hotel and there are good deals on expedia. My Jamaican friends suggested I stay there, so you will have a mix of local and international tourists.

It is worth it to stay in the deluxe or cabana rooms - the standard rooms are far below standard. We stayed at the deluxe room for $100 a night which incl breakfast (of danishes and coffee). And this room was what I would call standard.

The location is very good, close to lots of restaurants albeit over priced many of them. We really liked eating at Bourbon Beach for its amazing jerk chicken and Norma's was also worth the price. Forget the Italian and French places - they are bad and expensive.

Keep your eyes out when on the beach for the Patty man who sells the BEST patties and coco bread off his bike when we walks on the beach each day. His food is tastey and cheap! Another quy to look out for: Peter who does interesting off-beat tours around the area for a reasonable price. Cheaper than the hotel!

On staffing - some people have mentioned they are great. With the exception of Carlene in reservations and the security guards on the beach, we found staffing quality mediocre. Front desk is lacking friendly skills and always seem so busy and rushing you. And the restaurant staff will only be motivated if they get tips - otherwise, they are barely professional. The amazing beach location makes up for the poor staffing.
