“Great for a basic beach hotel”
Reviewed January 10, 2006

Coco la Palm is great for what it is. It is not a luxury resort, but a really cute hotel right on the beach and close to everything in Negril. Here were my impressions of the hotel:
Staff: Amazing! Super friendly, accomodating, you couldn't ask for better.
Grounds: Beautiful foliage on the grounds, palm trees, flowers--it was really pretty. Pools and hot tub also very nice; well maintained.
Beach: Gorgeous and well-maintained by staff. Also, just a few steps from the room! I walked up and down the beach in both directions from the hotel and thought that the spot right in front of Coco la Palm was among the best.
Food: Pretty good. I'm a vegetarian so there weren't many options, but my travelling companion liked some lobster dish they had. Also, good breakfasts. The beachfront location of the bar and restaurants was perfect.
Rooms: Ok. We had a 'deluxe' room and I would say it was pretty basic, but we had no major problems. Bed was comfortable, bathroom big. Some water damage on the ceiling in the bathroom, but really no big deal. Maids were great, kept it very clean.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel. This was my first time in Negril so I can't really compare it to others in the area from personal experience, but from what I saw Coco la Palm looked a lot better than some places, and really good for the price (relative to the prices of hotels in the area generally).

We stayed for 4 nights. This was our 5th time to Negril and the positive reviews on the board made my decision easy. We got a standard room and it was very basic, which is fine but the bathroom was DISGUSTING. The tile was filthy and I wore my flip flops in the shower. The celing was stained brown in the bedroom ( water problem?) and the dresser drawers when opened smelled like mildew so we couldn't unpack . There was also a brown stain running from the outlet in the bathroom down the wall. We heard that the hotel had bought another property next door and I think we were in that unit which had obviously never been remodeled. I would recommend the hotel based on the beach and location but the room I had was not worth almost $200.

This is the first review I've ever posted, but I had to let everyone know how wonderful CoCoLaPlam is!

Stayed at CoCo 3-10 Dec 05. What a fantastic place!

We got a good rate for one of their beachfront rooms and we were in heaven! We had a small frig for our red stripes (go to Hi-Low to stock up), coffee maker with complimentary blue mt coffee for on our patio in the mornings and a great bathroom (always had hot water!). The view from our patio was to DIE for!!

VERY nice beach still there after the storms. Excellent security. The guards there kept any unwanted beach vendors away, which was really nice! The entire staff at CoCo was fantastic!

Since it was the holiday season, they had all of their xmas lights up, and the property was simply beautiful!

They have an adults only pool (never used) right on the beach which looked really nice, another wonderful pool and a fantastic huge hottub (secluded area). We got to use the hottub once, tried 2 more times and it was too hot! Hope they've turned the temp down, but we didn't complain....too many other things to do!

They have internet service connection for a fee in the office ($10 for an hour during your stay). They only had one functional computer, but it was nice to be able to stay in touch without having to rent a phone.

They had plentiful lounges and nice towels available at all times. There is no need to get up at dawn to try to "reserve" a lounge chair or "space" as we've expereinced at some A/I's! Wonderful!!!

We watched a wedding on the beach one day, and it was simply beautiful! CoCo did a fantastic job on that!

Please try Firefly (a few properties down) for breakfast, great omelettes or pancakes! Say Hi to Shawn.

DO NOT go to Country Country for bfast, at 9:45 one a.m. they were out of everything! I don't know why we even stayed to eat....

Do try the sunset cruise on The Wild Thing....great!!!
Free pizza (don't know where it was from, but was great too!) and drinks and you can swim to Rick's if you like...I did and jumped off a "wimp" part of the cliff to get back....great fun! Wish we had had more time though, as I would have liked to try the slide on board!

There is a really nice dinner and show Sunday or Monday night a few doors down from CoCo towards Margaritaville (close).
Dinner at a table on the beach (the snapper was wonderful) with a nice raggae show.

Don't miss "The Best of the West" right across the street for their fabulous jerk chicken with bread! Also, there's a little market two doors down, DO get some of their bread and cheese to keep in your frig for b-fast/snacks!

Also, please try a side order (specify side order or you get a full meal) of ackee and saltfish for b-fast at CoCo's restuarant.

This was our 3rd trip to Negril and by far the best place we have stayed!

Can't wait to get back to CoCoLaPalm sometime in 2006!

Check out [----------------] as they have excellent pictures of the resort (and a great map) and are a great travel agency to book through!

One more thing, please try to make it to Selina's for Sunday brunch and try one of her bloody mary's!
I think I had at least 2, but wasn't counting! and hubby had b-fast that I shared, which was wonderful as well!

"The Cowboy" sings for this and he is the greatest! We bought one of his CD's on our trip last year.
We're upset cause we didn't get a pic of the Cowboy's beautiful blue eyes!
It is across the street from the Merill's resorts.

There is a live webcast at that time where you can (thanks to Rob, the webmaster) say hello to your friends back home LIVE! Just tell them to go to [----------------]. on the Sunday you'll be there!

Hope everyone enjoys Negril (and CoCo) as much as we did/do!

CocoLaPalm was the best place for the best value. We got a hot deal along with great airfare and had the best time. The rooms were clean, nothing fancy, but were happy with the accomodations. We like to spend our money on diving, tours, eating and drinking, so we were so pleased with what we were provided. The staff at every point in the resort were very friendly and accomodating. The grounds are kept very nice and pleasing to the senses. There was seaweed the second day we arrived, and the staff was immediately on top of cleaning up the beach. Joan from the Salon gives a great massage. The food was good and service was excellent. The location of the resort on the beach was perfect. Just right in the middle so we could walk to other bars very easily.

We spoke to many visitors who had stayed at the All-Inclusives and although the accomodations were good, the food was less than fair. We got to enjoy all the local cuisines, jerk chicken, curried goat, ackee, callaloo, yum. Eat at Norma's for breakfast and have the Caribbean Benedict. The best jerk chicken was just across the street from CocoLaPalm at a little place called the Best in the West. Also Kubaya was great food for a nice romantic evening.

We can't wait to return again to CocoLaPalm in Negril!

We thought the Cocolapalm was a great place to stay! Beverly at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Dr Rock is the best bartender on the Island. The staff on the beach were very friendly and will get you anything you need. The food was good and the beach was the best weve been to!! Are room was very nice and the maid service was great. We had fresh flowers on our bed ever day after it was cleaned are door was always open and nobody took anything out of our room or off our patio. We had problems with our airconditioner but it eas fixid right away and we had no bugs. The security on the beach was great and they kept away everybody trying to sell you something. Cant wait to go back we wouldnt stay any place else!

We (my mom. sister, and 2 kiddies age 2 and 8) stayed at CCLP at the end of June, we had two double rooms. The rooms were very comfortable...the staff were friendly and polite ..Rocky who tended the grounds, and all the staff in the restaurant and at the grill outside (which has the most delicious jerk chicken and rice and peas). The beach was gorgeous and kept very clean...The hot tub and the pool were so relaxing...even the guests were fabulous....what a great 3 days ...I would definitely stay there again....just PERFECT!!!!
