We were in Negril 14 nights and usually ended our evenings at the bar at Coco la Palm.
The main bartender, Vernon, reallly took care of us and made each visit a wonerful experience. We were actually staying somewhere else but always chose to return to Coco la Palm. Vernon even took the time to teach me some of the rules of cricket. He pours a "mean" Black Russian.
Visit Vernon. You will not be dissappointed.

Room Tip: Just commenting on the bartender. Did not stay here.

I went to Negril, my home town and needed a place to stay for the weekend and we stayed at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The front desk agent Christine, was very courteous, and welcoming, something that is missing a lot of times when you are dealing with people who feel that as a local, they must treat you less than they would a visitor to our Island. We stayed there again the following week, it is a nice little place to stay and it is close to our favorite eatery, Cool Spot.

This was my third trip to Negril and my first non-AI. Needless to say, I will be returning to Coco La Palm for future visits.

We stayed in a superior room and couldn't have asked for better accomodations. The room was large, air conditioned, extremely clean, and had a very large bathroom and shower. In addition, there was a coffee maker, sink, refrigerator, and plenty of cabinet space.

We were immediately greeted by the incredibly friendly staff and made to feel welcome.

The location of Coco La Palm can't be beat - it is right in the middle of the beach and we enjoyed walking to the many bars/restaurants along the beach.

We ate breakfast at the resort (which was very good and a great value) , but generally ate patties on the beach for lunch and went elsewhere for dinner in the evenings. They had a happy hour - 2 for 1 drinks - every night from 5-7, but their drink prices were otherwise higher than neigboring bars. However, we took a soft sided cooler and just loaded it up with Red Stripe that we had bought from Hi-Lo every morning.

The beauty of going non-AI is that you aren't tied to a resort and can really explore the area and everything it has to offer. We met a lot of great people and found many gems on the beach. As we walked every day, I kept looking for another resort on the beach where we would stay on our next visit and never found anything that compared to Coco La Palm.

On our 2010 visit to Negril we checked this place out and had some food at their beachside cafe. After seeing the property and enjoying the food, we booked our next trip. The resort has everything you need so you don't have to leave if you don't want to, so it is an alternative to an all inclusive.

This section of the beach is the best in Negril and the resort has a very wide section that is not cramped like so many other places in Negril. The food is as good as any other place within walking distance.

They have security people on the beach so you will not be bothered by the parade of vendors. It is a short cab ride to the West End, and you can walk to town if you want to have a third world experience.

If we ever go back to Negril, we will stay here again.

This will be short because I just spent and hour on a review and lost it.
Our second stay at CocoLaPalm. Hard to beat this place at around $100 a night. Safe, right on the beach, excellent staff, bars and restaurants all over the place. If you like to party, but are considerate to others, this is the best place you can stay at (Negril). We have been to Jamaica many times. Used to stay in MoBay, but Negril is out home away from home now. So here is what you are looking to know: We stayed in room #421 this time. Great hot water and water pressure. Clean room, except for some ants that were eradicated in five minutes with a spraying. Heck, I have ants in my house in the Summer. The hotel in right on the beautiful Seven Mile Beach, which is actually four miles long. Just about every hotel on the beach has a tiki bar. I like those... Vendors on the beach sell most of what you need, cigarettes, beers, banana bread, fresh made orange juice, steamed lobsters, trinkets, and other "stuff". All the rooms are fine, buy we enjoyed opening our door and seeing the ocean last week. ATM is in walking distance, but you can also take a taxi to the center of town for $10 round trip to go to Scotia Bank. Take you money in Jamaican to make your life easier. You can stop in a beach bar with no shoes or shirt, no problem mon. The beach is awesome, there are restaurants on the other side of the street for a little less money. You can have a three course Jerk Chicken meal for about $3.50 US. Red Stripes beers for as low as $1.80 US. The people are friendly and happy to see you. I cannot imagine why we would go anywhere else other then the CocoLaPalm. We have been there twice so far, but been to Jamaica many, many times. There are many glass bottom boats you can hire for $50 to $100 to go snorkeling, or like us, take a ride up the Negril River. At the end of the river you cannot hear anything at all, except birds. An awesome experience. We use Captain Kirk, who either has hit boat at the beach just east of the hotel, or is walking the beach. Fun bars that are cheap...The Boat bar with David the Bartender (tell him you read out review), Firefly, just to the right when you enter the beach for cheap beer. At the Boat Bar there is a lady called Ms. Pat who provides five 45 minute messages for $100 US. Tell her we send you. For Jerk Chicken close by, The Best of the West is across the street and to the right from the Hotel.
Being as this is the second time I am typing this, I will end it now. But, save a lot of time and check out this hotel. You will not be sorry. David the bartender at the Boat Bar can refer you to people such as taxis, etc. As a matter of fact, when he found we wanted to visit Treasure Beach, he offered to take us. The next day we were having a picnic with his extended family in the hills. Need a break from the stress and enjoy simple things and chilling, try this hotel and this area of Jamaica. Respect Mon....

Room Tip: All the rooms are fine, but this time we enjoyed room #421. All the rooms are close to the beach, an both pools.
