“Fantastic little gem!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

I was staying at a different resort but had the opportunity to get a day pass to this resort. Let me tell you, we were so glad! This resort is currently still open to families but on Dec 24 2013 if will be going adults only. It's a small resort and each building only has two units in it. They built on stilts - so it's like you are in a treehouse bungalow. The beach IS across the street however it wasn't an issue. There are crossing guards so you can cross safely and it's not far at all. The beach is public but there is a designated area for this resort only. That means you get the privacy but also can interact with locals who are walking up and down the beach. We were serenaded 3 times and it was splendid! The beach is beautiful and the service and food at the beach grill were incredible! We really loved our time in Negril and at this resort. Everyone was wonderful and it is a GEM!

We just got back from 5 nights at SATP that we bought through Groupon. We had such a great time. I could write many paragraphs but here is the basic list:

Best Things:
Nature walk with Shorty the gardener - such a special person
Omelette bar in the mornings
All the mixed cocktails you can try
Jamaican night at the buffet
The porch daybed at the rooms
Grilled red snapper and the fish taco salad for lunch at the beach grill
The water and being at the beach
All of the kind staff
Great piano bar singer, very relaxing to hang out there at night
We had no problems with bugs but we did spray ourselves with heavy duty bug spray before going out every night; there were no bugs in the room
We had no issue with the beach being across the street - there was always a guard to help you cross and it was really no big deal
The swim up bar

Worst things:
Tree fog night noise - I liked this but my husband needed earplugs
Prices in the shop - very convenient but I found most things I bought at the Montego Bay airport on the way home being sold for less, which is annoying
The night entertainment was definitely lacking - some of it was poorly attended by the guests and so it was pretty sad. The "One Man Band" was the best one, some of the cooks even came over and sang with him and it was pretty fun.
If there was wifi in the rooms or in places other than just the lobby this place would have been absolutely perfect!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 508 which was away from the road and we had no road noise problems.

The place let you think your are in a rain forest. This rain forest wakes up and sings during the night = marvelous! That resort is not right on the beach and you have to cross the road to access their private beach. Crossing the road is ok since the hotel has a guard there especially for that (felt safe).
That is an "all inclusive" resort. From past experiences, we are afraid by the type and QUALITY of food served in that kind of resort. There, we have been very pleased by the food (and we are exigent!!!).
Finally, the staff is just very friendly and they would do all what they could to serve you well and please you.
We would go back without hesitation.

I like to think I am a well travelled man and I can safely say that this is definitely one of the best all inclusive holidays I have ever been on. It's a small exclusive hotel, nothing is ever busy. Never any queues, always a relaxed atmosphere, If anything a little too relaxed at times.

I'd like to mention a few members of staff who made our stay even more memorable;

The number one bar man for us was Kemp, he was always friendy, always smiling, always made the best cocktails, a proper gentleman.

Claudette, one of the servers/waitresses was always a pleasure to see every morning at breakfast. My girlfriend is fussy with her tea, yet claudette made it perfect every morning remembering how she has it without asking. Claudette was always kind and very attentive.

Leonardo (Leo) the waiter, was probably the cheesiest and friendliest man you could meet. Nothing is to much for him. You could ask him for anything and he would get it. A very kind and considerate young man with a mature head. He would make an awesome manager one day.

Melissa, the barmaid at the beach made awesome cocktails (its a must to have the hummingbird but be careful they are potent) and had the voice of a angel singing away to the music. She was very attentive and always very polite.

Kelvin, the night chef, Oh my god made the best toasted sandwiches in the world, just what you need after a few to many rums at midnight. Nothing was ever to difficult to cook. Whatever you wanted he was the man.

To be fair all the staff were very kind, most had a constant smile. The only thing I would fault about the hotel is that the entertainment could do with being a bit better. The rooms are beautiful (ask for a mosquito Net and remember to bring some good mosquito repellent), the maid leaves the door open sometimes. The pool is always cleaned every morning. The beach is amazing, never do you have to reserve beds, beautiful white sand, clear waters. The beach buskers (singers) are amazing especially Donovan remember to get him a rum and coke everyday. The hotel should consider Donovan for an entertainment slot at the hotel as that man can sing. Lobster on the beach is a must costs around $25-30 but wow the taste is amazing,(not part of hotel). The food throughout the hotel is alway above average, the jerk chicken, snapper, BBQ wings on the beach are all amazing. Always haves 2 starters at the a-la carte, they're one mouthful each lol.

Overall one of the best holidays me and the girlfriend have ever been on.

Room Tip: We were in room 405, it doesn't matter which room you have the noise of the insects drowns out a...

Had a great experience at the Sunset at The Palms. I have no complaints. Spent the week here. The staff were really friendly and went out of the way to make our stay fantastic. It was very cool staying in the room as a tree house. The food was excellent. The fruits and vegies were probably the best I have ever had on a vacation. Every one from the guards who helped you cross the busy street to the beach to the food staff were very nice. The singing chef had a great voice. Our room was close to the street that had a high noise level. If I were to stay here again I would ask for a room away from the street. Coffee in the morning at the coffee bar was yummy. You will not be disappointed staying at this place.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the street
