The Resort is a smaller intimate resort which has service which far exceeds the RIU's located to the east and west of this resort. The beach is pure sand, not "pit run" which the other 2 resorts have. Smooth check-in and out. No long waits for anything. Free shuttle to Xtabi to see the sunset, less crowded than Rick's Cafe. You can take you swim wear and dive off into the ocean there and have a good meal as well. The beach may be across the road, but my wife and I have been to 5 star Gran Bahias, RIU's, Grand Palladuims, and Iberostasr and walked further even with beachfront rooms. The Buffet breakfast are out of this world, lunch is very good as well, supper excellent, but the Beach bar has the best Red Snapper and Jerk Chicken I've had in sometime. The a-la-cartes were some of the best I've ever tasted, The Beef Tenderloin is mm good, suggest adding Lobster m(extra $30 U.S.) , with the meal, they are 10 oz tails! If you want a good tour book, "John Wayne", he'll take you "Doggystyle" Jamaica, lol as he calls it, the backroads through the country side and to the Lighthouse. If you like Jamaican Patties go to Jucy Patti's in Negril, they are excellent. We went for a 10 day tour and loved every minute of it, staff were excellent, helpful, and informative. The only room for improvement would be better beach lounges, which 99% of resorts have yet to replace the green, blue and various striped ones. Take floating chirs or anything floatable, the ocean is waiting there calm and refreshing. Hope you enjoy as much as my wife and myself, this was our third anniversary and this trip was made extra special. pictures to follow......

We just got back from Sunset @ the Palms in Negril. It was such a beautiful place, we loved every moment of it. The service is amazing there, all the staff are super friendly. The beach is second to none really. The fact that they built the hotel on the opposite side of the road allowed them to keep many of the trees neighboring hotels tore down. It allowed everyone to have plenty of shade from the hot Jamaican sun. I'll keep this brief because if you're like me, you want the short version so here goes:

The Good:
The Beach!!
Rooms were beautiful and comfortable
Staff
Drinks - they have plenty of frozen concoctions to please anyone
Grounds - they were beautiful
Pool
The people - we met a ton of great people staying at the hotel who were super fun. Everyone was really friendly which I loved.
Musicians on the beach (buskers) they are awesome

The not so good:
Food - it's okay, nothing to write home about. The a la carte restaurant was pretty good, some of the dishes anyway.
The bugs! They are vicious, bring spray
Night life @ the hotel - it was okay, I wouldn't say it was bad, I would just say it's not great. It's what you make it.
Walking past the hotel on the beach toward the vendors, you will get a bit harassed. Just don't make eye contact. I would have bought something or at least looked at several places if the vendors weren't so freaking aggressive in that section.
If you go to the Office of Nature, do so when there are plenty of other tourists around. If you don't you get all the attention and it's a bit overwhelming. The food was good and it was an experience for sure, but they are hustlers there so just keep that in mind.

Tips:
-If your a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. It's basically like sleeping outside with the sounds of nature. It kept me up a bit the first night but after that I got used to it.
-ask for another pillow if yours is no good, that contributed to our sleeping problems, but a simple fix
-Make friends - everyone's in a good mood when on vacation so don't be shy!
-bring plenty of singles to tip with. You don't have to tip every time, but it's nice to tip your bartenders, servers and buskers (musicians). No need to exchange to Jamaican if you have US dollars
-Pack plenty of sunscreen and a hat
-Bring your own bar cup/mug, otherwise you'll have to refill the small cup they give you a lot. You can also buy one from the gift shop as a souvenir.
-Bug Spray, pack it!
-Don't be afraid to explore outside the hotel. Jamaicans are mostly very friendly and love their tourists. We hit up Roots Bamboo and had a great time, even though it looked a little dicey at first.
-Bring a couple large water bottles and fill them up in the gym-we did this a lot.
-If you don't want to buy weed, just tell those who ask that you aren't interested, if you hmm and haw they will continue to ask.

Enjoy your trip! The Sunset is a wonderful place to stay while in Negril.

Room Tip: We stayed in 411 and it was great. We didn't hear the road noise at all and could only hear the...

Stayed 4/24-30th (too short!) Let me first say that we travel a few times a year and never go back to the same place twice...that is all changing! LOVE SATP!!..and Jamaica Felt at home immediately...smooth check in and our bungalow (410..great but 415 looks perfect) was exactly where i had requested and the fridge was waiting. Do online check in, it's quick and easy. We were at the beach within 20 mins of arriving! As said many times, not a party resort but lots of fun and interesting people to talk to if you are so inclined. We loved the night sounds..used the AC once because we did not know how to turn the ceiling fan up (behind the bed) -- other nights we were comfortable with the breeze. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Housekeeping did a great job. All the employees were so helpful and genuine. Respect Mon! Shout out to Christine and Cap'n Kirk! Girls at front desk helped me out of a bind..Thanks
Took two tours of our own making with Eric Pleasure!--you'll find him outside the gate~reasonable price, clean van with AC..felt very safe,,,we went off the beaten path and to the usual, Ricks etc. FANTASTIC!!!
Buffet food was a great mix- tried some new things..yum Dove, chef at Lotus is really great, food was wonderful every time we ate there. Nicely equipt gym too..husband got a massage and raved about it.
Beach is set up perfect..lots of sun and lots of shade..gotta have the red snapper!
Tried to hit all points and can't remember names of all staff but everyone and everything suit us perfectly.
Wish i were on my raft, drink in hand floating...ahhh see u soon SATP :)

Room Tip: 400-415 looked best to me..barely heard road noise..view of mountains..ask for a fridge too!

For our 1st trip to Negril, we chose to stay at the SATP between April 20th and 27th and never regretted a minute of our choice!
From the welcoming cocktail and hand towel to the final goodbyes from the reception staff, we truly felt we found our little island paradise. We took the tour with Shorty the gardener around the grounds allowing us the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the wonderful vegetation surrounding this paradise!
Everything is a short walk away from your room; be it the pool; buffet; bars and beach. The room itself could use more lighting both in the main part as well as the bathroom. We asked and were supplied with a mini-fridge to store medicine. We also could have used a net in the bedroom to protect us from the mosquitoes. The windows have screens and not glass and I’m sure some came in that way. Otherwise, it was most pleasant to fall asleep and be woken up by the sounds of the birds, toads etc. that surround the lush grounds.
We chose to only eat at the buffet and beach restaurant and found the food to be great. A good variety of choice, fruits and vegetables. Every night there was a different ‘theme’ in the buffet ranging from Mexican to Asian to Italian to Caribbean. We found it impossible to be bored with the choices as there was always something to try every day. Breakfast had everything you could want as well.
We were extremely happy with service provided by everyone and felt they really cared when they asked how your day was going. From Shemoy, Christine, Shannon at the buffet to young Leonardo at the Coffee Bar (who will be going places fast !) and all the many others that we were lucky enough to have met!
The beach was our preferred spot for most of the day and we were happy not to have to return to our room to change for the Buffet and thus enjoyed the convenience of the Beach Restaurant. Again, the offerings were wide enough that there was something for everyone.
Other than the first afternoon, the weather was picture perfect; fantastic sun with little wind; calm waters and a great ambience. Our favorite spot was waiting for us every day as the staff at the beach quickly recognized and greeted you every morning.
The best part of the beach (for us) was people watching; from the cigarette/cigar hawkers to the musicians. We and others quickly found ourselves waiting for the morning and afternoon performances by Donnavon Dalrymple. A great acoustic guitar singer! If you can, grab one of his CD’s as they quickly sell out as we aren’t the first place he starts his performances from. You can sample his performances on you tube as well.
A respectful ‘no thanks’ and most of the time, the hawkers will leave you alone from either your beach chair or, when you tend to walk from one end of the beautiful beach to the other.
As time was running out, we wanted to do a quick tour of the Negril area. The usual drivers were at their spot in front of the resort but as this was last minute, most were booked. However, one of them offered to find another driver for us and we were lucky enough to have been introduced to Michael Anderson @ Yandy Tours & Taxi Service (1-876-377-2841). The cost was very reasonable. We told him our plans and he offered up ideas of his own and was never impatient or in a rush while waiting for us. A very friendly, careful driver and highly recommended if you need one!
There always has to be one thing ‘wrong ‘with a resort and for us it was the mosquitoes. Either they loved our cold Canadian blood or, we didn’t apply enough mosquito repellant. The worst time evidently was at sunrise and sunset and we recommend a spray repellant over a cream one.
We are already making plans for our return to the SATP resort next year and can’t wait!!!

This beautiful Balinese style boutique beach resort earns a lot of repeat clientele. The staff is still casual and personable. Some lack professionalism. The bbq jerk chicken is delicious. The beach is beautiful.

With the expansion that we saw on this visit, we learned they are building more cabins. Will require another restaurant now. Facilities must increase. This wasnt a problem while we were there but it will be. They need to plant more greenery for continued lush grounds throughout the property - not just in the old section! We were dissapointed to feel they're still using the same inferior bed linens. Brought our own flat sheet and it helped to make it just a bit more breathable.

We love Negril. This hotel is a true gem. Love Sunset at the Palms, it is fantastic. We hope they will continue to implement ongoing improvements so that they can rise to that next level of excellence!! Can't stop, won't stop!!

Regardless they still offer an experience far better than most hotels. I will continue to recommend this property whole heartedly. For the price, there isn't a better hotel in Negril.

Sunset at the Palms is a dream come true to those who wish to have a relaxed easy going vacation. We were privileged to be able to stay for 14 days from April 6-21. This was our first time to Jamaica and we are glad we chose the best resort in Negril.
We celebrated our wedding/honeymoon there. The Staff is exceptional, friendly, and gracious and always looking to make your stay more pleasant, we felt right at home. We got to know quite a few of the staff members and made friendships that will carry on. I would like to mention some of the Staff members names but we became friendly with 36 of them just too many to list.
The resort is absolutely beautiful, the grounds are kept pristine and the flowers and plants are simply breathtaking. The ground keepers do an exceptional job. Our Tree house suite was nicely decorated, very clean and private (room 710) The Housekeeping staff is wonderful and do a great job.
The Buffet had always lots of variety to please everyone and everything was always fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed all the fish that was being served and had some every day. The Wait Staff is very attentive we really appreciated all the Waiters attention to detail, and efforts to get to know all the guests. The Lotus Leaf restaurant was a special place, very romantic and the Lamb was the best we ever had. Thank you to all the Chefs and Waiters. Do eat at the Beach grill, as we did so many times there is always friendly smile and the best Jerk chicken EVER!!!

Our Wedding day was more than we ever could have dreamed of. We started with a few hours soaking up sun on the beach then a massage which was so relaxing. We married on the beach at sunset which was beautifully decorated for us. The bouquet and boutonniere were very nice. We had a private Dinner in the Gazebo after our Ceremony it could not have been any more perfect. The Staff once again went above and beyond to make our day extra special a great big THANK YOU to all for making our day unforgettable.
The Beach, oh how we miss the Beach, the bluest water and the sand is kept very clean there is always someone to get you a chair or anything else you may need, I think we spent most of our days there as we are beach bums.
If you plan on doing any tours and wish to get away from the crowds and see the REAL Jamaica then go and find Randy aka John Wayne Tours, he is parked on the street in front of the Resort. He is honest, reasonably priced (cheaper than most) friendly, informative and tons of fun. Most of all he will teach you about Jamaica and its people. We fully understand “ONE LOVE” now and hope to practice it more often in or day to day lives. Randy took us to Roaring River, Dunn’s river falls, Nine miles and an excursion through Negril and the mountains. Randy is professional and will always ensure your safety. I highly recommend John Wayne tours and we will even get him to pick us up at the airport next time. We miss his big smile and think of him fondly.
There really are no words to sum up what a special place SATP has in our hearts other than to say “Keep up the good work and don’t change you have a special place and special people working for you and we will see you again”
