Jamaica is the best place in the world to holiday if you ask me! We’ve been twice now and anticipating another next year.

I wouldn’t choose a Riu, but a “Couples” resort. They only have four complexes – all in Jamaica. Couples Negril, Couples Tower Isle (Ochos Rios), Couples Sans Souci (Ochos Rios) & Couples Swept away (in Negril too).

Our first visit was to Couples Negril September 2009), truly amazing (the bedrooms aren’t glitzy like a Riu or similar), but in lovely typical Jamaican style. Towels changes twice a day. Beds turned down at night etc. The attention paid to everyone is second to none! All the staff are soooo laid back – they’re brilliant. It may appear to cost a little more for the initial holiday, but ALL Inclusive means just that. ALL excursions and activities are included in the price. As many catamaran trips, diving, Hobicats, windsurfing, ANYTHING as much as you like at no extra cost.

Arriving in Montego Bay Airport, couples have their own little bar where they let you freshen up and give you a cold Red Stripe before setting off to your resort. On arrival you are met with champagne whilst they bring all the stuff to complete to you. Really stress free.

It has its own nudist beach for those of us who like that kind of thing.

Big white mattresses on the sunbeds, which double up as “floaties” to take in the sea – with little holes in to put your drink in whilst your floating around in the Caribbean!

The beach is wonderful – on “seven mile” beach.

All restaurants superb.

We will most definitely go back to Couples Negril – as long as I keep the other half off the “Bob Marley’s” – a lethal little drink, which resulted in him having to be picked up out of the swim up bar and helped back to our bedroom (growing old disgracefully!) - thanks Simone :-)!

Met some fantastic people – Josh & Tracey, Mark and Dana, Courtney & Rich, Cindy & Craig, Diane and Eric – to name but a few!

No kids, no one under the age of 21 and all couples. I would recommend Jamaica, but in particular couples reports to anyone (have a look at the Couples Reports website). Everything really is “No problem mon”.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in May. We had a beachfront deluxe room, 6102 I think. We had a ground floor and great view of the ocean! There is a pond between building 6& 9 that have some fish in it.... if you can stand it they come and "clean" your feet for you! Too funny:) Room was kept very clean, thank you Veronique (sp)!! Beautiful beach and water. The whole resort was beautiful. The things that were not so great: a little too laid back for us. We are 48 and 43 no kids, travel a lot, so was a nice change of pace. We stayed at CSA last Dec. and have decided to go back there this Dec. It has a higher energy about and the food was much better there, more options as well. Bartenders were more friendly too.

We stayed at Couples Negril for four nights following a three nights stay at Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay for our son's wedding. We loved Couples Negril. It was very relaxing and laid back. The beach is absolutely gorgeous. Powder white sand and calm turquoise water. The red flag service and floats on your beach chairs were a nice touch. We were very impressed with the food and the beach party was very elaborate, and lots of fun. This is not a fancy, glitzy resort. If that is what you are looking for then it is not the resort for you. If you want a very tropical, Jamaican resort with good service, good food, fantastic beach and pool and just want to totally relax, then this is the resort for you. There are many activities included, but you do not feel pressured to do any of them. We can't wait to go back and are planning another trip for next summer. This time we plan to stay for a week.

We loved it so much, we didn't leave the resort the entire time we were there. Everything was perfect from the airport welcome to the final ride back to the airport. Room was clean and well stocked. The beach was very well maintained compared to adjacent resorts. Staff was very polite and willing to help. Lots of free activities from water sports to jewelery making to ice carving to keep you busy. Will definitely visit again.

CHECK-IN: We arrived to Couples Negril on 5/28/11. We were quickly greeted with cool towels and champagne. Check-in was quick and smooth. They tell you to have a seat, and they bring all of the paperwork over to you. They give you a quick run down of the property, all of the restaurants and such. Then the bellman and you are off to your room.

ROOM: Our room was very clean. Very basic, but it was perfect for us. We were in block 7 and had a Deluxe ocean room. They advertised 'partial views of the sea,' but our view couldn't have been better. We had a great view of the sea and both wedding areas. We did have an issue with small ants in our room, and I don't mean a couple. Make sure you do not leave any food or drink out. I made the mistake of not rinsing my glass of tang, and came back to find these little ants all over it. These little creepers were crawling all over our bags and everywhere. We asked housekeeping for a can of bug killer, and we received a note apologizing for the ants and the can of bug killer. They had also sprayed our room. Honestly, this is the Caribbean and I expected that I would see some bugs. This is NOT a deal breaker here! We moved our suitcases from the floor to the luggage rack. Armed with the bug killer, these little pests were no longer a problem at all.
-Mini Bar: This is not stocked upon arrival. You need to fill out a card indicating what you desire. It will be stocked the following day. This is not a big deal as you can easily get a drink at any of the bars. Besides, my intention of coming to Jamaica was to spend as little time in the room as possible!

RESORT: The resort is designed to have a true rustic, Jamaican feel. Many reviews indicate that this resort needs a coat of paint or updating. It is supposed to look this way!! This resort is only about 10 years old. The couples website and trip adviser photos are a true indicator of what the resort looks like. The resort has the main pool overlooking the beach as it's vocal point. All of the restaurants are in this area which we loved. It was wonderful not having to walk all over the place to find something to eat or get a drink.

POOL & HOT TUBS: Very clean. I honestly thought the pool was a little on the small side but it is said to have the biggest pool in all of Negril. You can get red flag service for drinks if you wish.

BEACH: This is where we stayed the majority of the time. This beach is fantastic. Truly the best beach I have ever experienced. White sands, clear blue warm waters. You can easily walk out for 100 years and the water is only up to your chest. The water is so gorgeous. So easy to get in as it is so warm! I LOVED that all of the beach chairs had floats attached. Being able to float out in the sea with no worries is PRICELESS! Again, they have red flag service for your drinks, if you desire. After about 4PM, sand fleas come out. Make sure to bring some DEET. I didn't, and came home with soo many bites.
-Beach vendors- "Ciiiiiigerettes, cigars, cigars, cigars. It's going to be hot, hot, hot, hot!"
"Where my ladies at, where my ladies at, where my ladies at? Cheap Charlie here! Cheaper than Walmart, cheaper than JC Penny!" There are a few that walk by. The shoreline is public property, but the beach is private property. The vendors walk along the shore offering their goods. A simple no thank you is all it takes. I got a nice sundress from 'Cheap Charlie,' for $10.00. The vendors are friendly.
-Beach musicians: Musicians also walk along the shore and play for you. You can tip them if you wish. This was such an awesome experience. Some of them are so talented. We bought a CD from one of them, he was so good.

WATER SPORTS: They offer everything you can possible want to do. Scuba, snorkeling, catamaran cruise, glass bottom boat tour, sun fish sails, kayaks, peddle boats, all at no charge. The catamaran cruise was SO MUCH FUN!! They take you to do some sight seeing, and you get to swim in the caves. Truly an experience.

FOOD: If you do not like the food served here, NOTHING will please you. We never had a bad meal. The food and quality of ingredients was fantastic. We dined at every restaurant except Heliconia for dinner. (They served mostly duck and such, which we don't eat.) I cannot say enough about the food. It was incredible.
DRINKS: They make awesome drinks. Try a Dirty Banana, Miami Vice or a No Problems!
I am going to be on a hunt for rum cream.

STAFF: The staff at this resort are phenomenal. They go out of their way to make sure you are having a good time and enjoying yourself. They like to get to know your name and chat with you. We had the privilege of a member of staff joining us for lunch one day. They really take an interest in getting to know you, which was great, as we really had an interest in getting to know them.

First time to Jamaica and Couples, but without a doubt, we WILL be back!
