“A wonderful experience”
Reviewed February 8, 2006

We just returned on Tuesday from a 5 night stay at CSA. It was an amazing time starting with our airline trip via JA.
The bus ride to the hotel was great, driver supplied a few Red Stripes. Having someone meet you with a cool towel and a glass of champagne is wonderful.

We stayed in the old side. The veranda and room were incredible. A picture perfect experience. The beds were great the two man hamoc was enjoyable we ended each evening together on the veranda cuddled up on our hamoc listening to the tree frogs. Slept like babies, walked the beach every day.
The food was delicious, the two fine dining restaurants were delicious and I had fresh fish for every meal, including breakfast. The buffets were great and the drinks were plentiful and top rail alcohol.
We went to the Sports Complex for the Super bowl expecting a large crowd and a small TV. They had set up two big screens, delicous appetizers. We thought that was going to be it. Well, they cleared out the appetizers and replaced it with a huge buffet. A very impressive display.
The water sports were well organized. We snorkeled and sailed the hobies, all great.
The only bad experience was the Catamaran Sail, which really wasnt a sail they put up the sails and ran the engines. It was a very windy evening, and at a couple points we were very concerned for our safety. The staff on the Catamaran were very rude. It was not a good experience. It is also not a CSA operated boat, they sub it out.
We cant wait to go back soon.
It was everything we had heard and much more than we expected.

My Cousin and I were at CSA from 1/23/06-1/27/06 celebrating our 40th birthdays along with our husbands. We had a fabulous vacation.
We enjoyed a cold Red Stripe at the Couples lounge then it was on to Negril. The bus ride was approx 1 hr 30 min. with stop along the way at a roadside souvenir/bar. We were greeted by friendly staff at CSA who smiled and said,"welcome home." While waiting to check in we were served champagne and a cold towel.
Room:
We stayed in a garden verandah suite. We were assigned Rm#4304 third floor right up against the construction, we could have passed the workers tools. The construction should be completed by April and the area with the new pool and restaurant will be beautiful. We asked to be moved and a few hours later we had a room one building over....what a difference. We had a lovely view of the gardens and ponds. The vegetation is not as lush as the old section but it is filling in nicely. The rooms are tasteful and clean with white walls, wood trim and white linens. Mini bar and couples robes are a nice touch. The garden verandah suites are along the road so you can hear traffic noise especially early morning. It would be nice to upgrade to an ocean view or beachfront, but I would stay in this room category again.
Beach:
The Beach is beautiful. Plenty of palm trees and lounge chairs with floats provided. Powdery white sand. The water is beautiful turquoise and warm. The ocean was pretty calm most of our stay. There are two beach bars with flag service. There were also a few beach vendors but they were not a problem at all. We went parasailing. That was fun.We also used the Hobie cats and went snorkeling. We didn't try Scuba but it was available.

Food-- We enjoyed the food. For an all-inclusive the food is excellent. Breakfast and lunch at the Palms are buffet, but with live stations. The made to order omlettes are delicious. We didn't enjoy Feathers like some people do but we only tried it once. To our surprise we liked Lemongrass, the Thai restaurant. Sea Grapes Cafe and Veggie Bar are a nice option for lunch. The bartenders make great drinks. Pina coladas, dirty bananas, hummingbirds etc. All blended fresh...yum

Entertainment: Happy Hour with Ultimate Chocolate at the Piano Bar is a must. Great martinis. It is also a fun way to meet other couples. After 10 pm things start to quiet down but we enjoyed dancing to the Reggae band Jam Messengers on Tuesday Night. The entertainment staff does a good job with activities until around midnight. Of course it's more like being at a wedding reception than spring break but still fun.

The Sports Complex is across the street. We didn't play sports but we did get a couples massage. The massage was nice but the building is right next to the tennis courts and you could hear people playing tennis.

In closing, what made this vacation truly special was the hard-working staff at CSA. Service was Excellent. The staff work long hours six days a week and do an outstanding job. We can't wait to go "home" again to Couples Swept Away.

I can't say enough about this place and its WONDERFUL STAFF! We were there on our honeymoon from Jan 25th-Feb 5th(11 night stay) and can't wait to go back.

We had looked into many destinations for our trip, but heard so many good things about Negril and the Jamaican people we narrowed our choice to Negril. Looking over reviews and talking to people and agents, everyone had nothing but praise for Couples resorts, so we chose them > only way to go in Jamaica.

Swept Away is a paradise, a picture-perfect location. This is a report on our trip, the resort, and importantly the staff, as they are vital to what makes this place a paradise.

ROOMS: It is hard to get a bad room at CSA > even many of the "base" garden rooms are really nice with wooden shutters, crisp white linens, wonderful shower stall and all the hot water and pressure you desire. We stayed in the Atruim rooms in the older section and would never stay in anything else (unless given an upgrade to the older beachfront rooms).
- The Atrium rooms we stayed in were amazing > all had king size beds with comfy pillows galore and clean, soft sheets. Mattress was great as well > slept so much better there than home. The room has screens outside the wooden shutters, so you felt like you were staying in a tropical treehouse > got to hear all the sounds of paradise at night due to no glass on windows > it was amazing, I will have to buy a CD of treefrog songs now at home. Rooms had CD player alarm clocks too, so bring a few from home to listen to. What sets these rooms apart from other resorts (including Couples Negril) though, is the balconies and verandah's > they are all huge! We had a hammock on ours, along with a ceiling fan, and a comfy outdoor benchseat/couch as well. We spent many a time relaxing and enjoying the view and sounds of nature around us. Every rooms also includes the use of CSA's own bathrobes (you have to try these on after a shower > I don't EVER wear robes and ended up buying a set of these from the gift store > really added to the comfort of our stay. To boot, every room has included with cost the service of ordering breakfast in bed, delivered to your room every morning if desired. You have no idea what it is like to wake up and find a beautiful tray of food awaiting you > the perfect start to a day in paradise.

FOOD: Food was very, very good overall, especially for an "all inclusive" resort after hearing many mixed reviews for them in general. FEATHERS, their upscale rest. had amazing food > especially the beef tenderloin. LEMONGRASS - their Asian rest. had delicious entree's and app's as well, especially the Asian noodles > yum! They also have a less known about a la carte breakfast which has the best banana-stuffed french toast on earth, among many other choices. The PALMS (main dining room) had decent buffets for breakfast and lunch (never went to the dinner ones) and the a la carte dinners we had there were also very good - the Marlin and blackened Mahi-Mahi were to die for (ask for a waiter named Arden if you go, he is an amazingly professional waiter!). SEA GRAPES (the seaside cafe) was a favorite for beachside lunches - jerk chicken, fried sweet potatoe chips w/dips, grilled marinated red snapper sandwiches, chicken and pineapple salad pita's > just to name a few fav's. What we really miss was strolling out along the beach late at night and then stopping by the BEACHFRONT GRILL (which Sea Grapes transforms to after 11 pm) and snacking on probably the best grilled hot dog I ever had. I can taste them still if I think about it. The waitstaff did a wonderful job > always had wine flowing, drink refills, and never felt rushed. They serve you with an attidude that can't be described or compared to here in the states (where they work for tips) - with the Jamaicans, it is like you already tipped them big in the past, and now you are a favorite returning guest.

BARS: What a variety of bars at this resort! They have 1 at the main dining room downstairs, which is always pumping out drinks from 10 am till the last person leaves at night - Tibzy, Omar, and Julian were awesome tenders there as well. Upstairs from there is the piano bar where after 6 pm, you can get some of the finest upscale drinks and martini's on the grounds. Andre and Clyon were awesome guys to get to know there > very friendly and entertaining! Try the chocolate-cherry martini after dinner, watch out though, they go down fast and easy. SEA GRAPES bar - this was a unique, non-alcoholic bar that serves up fresh fruit/veg. smoothes and drinks/juices - we really didn't use this at all so can't comment, but saw our far share of guests enjoying it during our stay. Now our favorite > the TWO full-service Tiki-style beachfront "SUNSET" bars - literally RIGHT ON THE BEACH, 15 ft from the water's edge. This is where we spent a lot of our time chatting with other guest and getting to know the bartenders. Nothing like getting ready for an amazing sunset while throwing a few back with "friends". The frozen and shaken tropical drinks here were unbelievable. Duke and Julian worked the far, smaller one often and were good for a friendly smile and laugh > but where we really miss going was the larger one - the "hang-out spot at CSA. A big shout out to Warren, OBrien, and especially our buddy KURT - this guy will make your trip. And we can't forget about the underused SPORTS BAR next to Feathers in the sports complex area > this place had some of the best bar food apps we've ever had (must try the onion rings, spicy wings, and mozz sticks w/Jalp poppers!) Bar area is neat too, flanked with pool table and TV. The evening bar tenders Saskia (warmest smile at the resort) and Dwayne (jokeman/trickman/entertainer/bartender all in one) will really make for an evening. Dwayne showed us some of the coolest bar tricks we've seen, and I used to be a bartender! Not only that, his jokes are unreal. BAR STAFF WAS INCREDIBLE > what a hard working bunch of people.

DRINKS: Never had a bad drink, from the first Red Stripe we got at the Couples Desk at MJB airport to the last one we had the night before we left. They have an expansive menu to choose from, but will make you whatever you tell them. They had top brands to use as well if desired. A few favorites were the Salty Dog, Cliff Hanger, Tantilizer, Amazing Grace, Coco loco, Pina colada, VX and Pepsi, Red Stripe (and RS light wasn't too bad either), Hummingbird, Daquiri's, and chocolate martini's. So many to choose from though, it is hard to pick! Advice, try as many as you can, don't just stop when you get to the first one you like (as it likely will be either your first of second!) Also must try the Bob Marley shot if never had it.

STAFF: The front desk staff is very courteous and helpful here. Nadia Gibbs helped make our honeymoon the best trip of our life after a bit of trouble on check in day > she straightened everything out and made us feel like royalty. The guest relations/entertainment crew here will make sure you never are wondering what to do > all four were great people, especially Big-D, Robert and Debrah who we got to know very well. Housekeeping staff did an excellent job of keeping our room clean and in order > ALWAYS made the bed perfectly and then turned it down in the evening > always brought a full pitcher of ice everyday, left funny CSA cards with a Jamacian saying on them on our pillows > never had a towel problems at all. The watersports team here > WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE to thank > but Floyd, Marshall, FitzMaurice, H. Shaw, Ogannah, Delantin, and a few others whose names I can't recall (like the guy & girl who ran the hut and took reservations for excursions) clearly but faces will always be familiar. The Jamaican with a british accent Scuba instructor was a cool guy as well.

ACTIVITIES: What couldn't you do here, especially if you like watersports > The WS crew are a hard-working, friendly bunch who will take you sailing, skiing/wakeboarding/kneeboarding at will, show you around on the glass-bottom boat, take you snorkeling 3x a day, and also teach you and take you out on a scuba dive which was a highlight of our trip. The snorkeling was a blast too > saw a bunch of cool things, including a big spotted eagle ray that wasn't more than 7 ft from us! Beach volleyball was a blast too. We did the Sunset/Booze/Catamaran twice while we were there and had fun with Rasta Ralphie on board, as well as diving off the cliff at Pirates Cave and off the slide on the boat. (I was the guy in the "Couples Camp - Diving instructor" shirt who did some crazy dives off the cliff). We didn't do a lot of the other daily activities though because it was hard to stay off the beach. The BEACH PARTY (Monday night) was a fun time as well - great Jamaican food and entertainment was enjoyable (Kool-Kat and his bicycle, Wonderman and his fire-breathing/balancing acts, the Steel Drum Band was awesome, and Madonna the limbo-queen was freakishly amazing to watch get low. The bonfire on the beach was our favorite night there, because they had a Jamaican singers who played an acoustic guitar and sang > he was unforgettable. Movie night on beach was neat as well, and they even had popcorn machine going on beach! We skipped the disco at Sports bar and the Jungle night club trip - would have done the disco but were exhausted.

EXCURSIONS (off resort, not included) > the tour desk here offered a lot to do in Jamaica, but we ended up only doing Mayfield falls. What an awesome trip - get to see a lot of the real Jamaica on the car ride there and back, and the falls were incredible. Actually got to walk up natural mineral spring falls for about an hour and then take a nature hike back when reached the top of the falls. This is a highly recommended trip for the ACTIVE/no knee or ankle problem crowd. Would do again when we return. Other offerings included jungle canopy tours, Appleton Rum estate tours, tourist shopping trip to Market Square (which I heard bad reviews from others staying at resort that went), horseback riding trips, etc. A Lot to do. We also never made it to Rick's Cafe, but many said it was a great place and we planned to go but never made it. MargaritaVille is just down the beach from the resort (8 minute walk or so) - looked fun but we didn't stay. Vendor guys on beach ("Elvis") will offer jet-skiing, parasailing, etc for additional costs.

BEACH: The BEST BEACH IN NEGRIL (and all of Jamaica I would wager) > went on for every from one end to the next (and it continued on both directions at the ends of the resort - literally "7-mile" beach). The sand was clean, soft, and white. The ocean was warm, and the perfectly clear carribean light blue, contrasted with darker blue patches in the distance. No debris or glass ever, numerous hammocks (20-25), tiki huts (15 or so), and beach chairs with comfy cushions that double as floats! The green flag drink service worked just as it should > need a drink, stick flad up in sand and a waiter would come over to get your order. The beach was hand-raked and organized everyday by the staff, so before you got there in the morning and before you went to dinner in the evening, the beach looked like it hadn't been used. Also, here is a tip, stay sitting at a Tiki hut just after the sun goes down in the evening and watch for the beach crabs to come up - very cool! Best spot we found for consistent action was the Tiki hut 2 down past the big beach bar (so heading 2 huts down towards new construction side). We stayed at Couples Negril for a night on this trip and left to go back to CSA because we missed this beach > no comparison at all to it. Sure it was nice, but once you experience the best, why settle for less? They didn't have a full-service bar there which we really loved (just had a cart with 5 bottles of booze, a cooler of ice, and a soda machine to serve yourself > however they had the red flag drink service as well so getting any drink on the beach was no problem, just no atmosphere to go along with it).

SUMMARY: Can't wait to go back, we miss it so much and can't think of a reason to go anywhere else in Jamaica, much less the Carribean for that matter. The Jamaican people and their culture are really what set this trip apart from everywhere else we have been. A hard-working, kind-hearted, genuine culture, which many Americans could learn a thing or 2 from. They work like dogs SIX days a week, for a fraction of the pay here, and receive little support/funding much less "free" healthcare from the gov.; unlike here, where you can get it all and don't have to work. Bless you Jamaica.

Like I mentioned earlier, we stayed a night at Couples Negril - had a good time, wonderful meal, and appreciated the resort and staff (Karen - GM is a wonderful person) for what it had to offer, but it just wasn't what we were looking for > CSA had everything we ever could ask except for the not-yet-completed swim-up poolbar (due to be complete by end of March 06). I could go on forever I'm sure, but will let you go and experience it for yourself. Until we come home again, just remember at CSA, everything is "no problem mon".

Also, booked with a wonderful Couples Prestige Travel agent for our trip that V.I.P.'d us prior to arrival. She has been to CSA over 40 times and knows the staff well. Saved us a lot of $ as well, but it was the level of service and connections to the staff at this resort (she is known as "Mrs. Swept Away" there) that made this trip hassle-free and carefree. Would book again with her in a heartbeat. Email me for info/referral.

We were at Couples Swept Away Jan 21 to the 28th. The resort is outstanding. We had absolutely no problems with check in or check out. The food and food choices was good, better then most all inclusives, however, would have liked to seen more shrimp dishes, also lacking in non-sugar items, only diet drink is pepsi & ice tea, and not sugar free desserts. The water sports center was our favorite place the workers in this area are very happy and helpful, we enjoyed all the water sports including the water skiing in the morning. Evening entertainment was good. The band and dancing was a lot of fun, the dancers got right out there with you and helped with new moves.
Rooms are lovely, we were near the hiway and had no problem with noise, only heard the road noise if the bathroom window was left open.
I would highly recommend Swept Away and am looking forward to going back.

My husband and I just returned from Couples Swept Away. I am a travel agent and have the opportunity to travel often. I loved Swept Away. Fromt the white sand beaches, turquoise waters and beautiful romantic sunsets to the resort villas set amongst the most beautiful lush gardens to the first class service and food. This resort is a must for anyone who seeks to get away, relax and spend time with a loved one. Their fitness complex is 5 star too. If you play tennis this is the place for you. Many courts to choose from. Raquetball, 50 meter lap pool. Very impressive complex.

The weather- i have been to Jamaica many times. We did not have rain at all for 6 glorious days! We have never had that lovely experience.

If you have any specific questions you can email me.

Go and enjoy, you will love it.

My husband and I stayed at Couples Swept Away Jan.21-Jan.28.We traveled Air Jamaica out of Newark. This went great! Upon arrival after clearing customs we were taken to the Couples lounge and offered drinks and then taken by a small bus to the resort. All this was perfect. The had about four other couples and the ride was pleasant as was the company of the others on the bus.We reached the resort and the lobby was packed. It was 12:pm and our room was not ready so we changed in the bathroom, went for lunch and headed to the beach. At 5:30 pm they finally had a room for us.
The front desk of CSA needs a lot of improvement. They are very friendly and seem to mean the best for everyone. However, everytime we were in the lobby we heard nothing except people complaining. They just have no organized system. However, once in our room we forget everthing except that maybe we found a little piece of heaven. We stayed in an Oceanfront Verandah. (Suite 3312) The room was not overstated just simple white sheets and bedspread. Very relaxing. We had a great view and we were close to the beach and the hot tub. We slept with the verandha doors open each night and could hear the ocean. The beach is one of the best I have ever seen. Very white sand, very clean and the water clear.
Yes, there are some venders trying to talk you into buying things. However, not like some other places we have stayed. The staff at CSA is perfect! We felt like they were almost family. Breakfast was wonderful. Our favorite was having Gladstone make us one of his perfect omletts each morning not to mention he was always so happy to see us. Our favorite waitress at breakfast was Peaches.
Our coffee was alway filled. She also was just delighted to greet us with a smile each morning.
Sea Grapes was a good place for lunch. You can get burgers and fresh fruit. Our favorite waitress was Katia. I felt sad to say good-by on the last day to her. All the restaurants have really good food. Our least favorite was Lemongrass. However, maybe it was because we just don't enough of that type of food even when home. The entertainment was always good.
They had something fun planned every night.
The Catamaran trip was awsome! The cliff divers are amazing to see! And the snorkling trip was also good. I especelly felt good that the snorkling captain seemed to put our safety as his first concern. This trip left three times a day. Both trips are included in the package.
I must say this is a TRUE all inclusive resort.
It had many extras not included in many all inclusives. We have been to the Carribbean 9 times
and felt this resort worked the hardest at keeping guests happy, had good service and was safe. The bars are good. Top shelf liquor. Our favorite bar was the little one near the end of the resort. Duke being our favorite bartender. He is always happy to see you and no drink is hard for him to make. He made the best Rum Runner I ever had. Also, the waitress on the beach. She works very hard making sure you always have what you need. Never did I once see her not greet someone without a smile. So, service gets an
A plus. The Beach an A plus as does the taste and quality of the food. However, things changed when it came time to leave. We put our bags out as told at 11:AM. We checked out and went for lunch. Our bus was to pick us up at 2:pm. It was 1:45 and no one ever took out bags or the bags of the room next to us to the lobby even though we had asked the front desk 3 times. My husband who has very bad knees ended up RUNNING back to the room and carrying all our luggage down from the room.(three flights of stairs) This took three trips. He flagged down a baggage crew who actually passed him two times.
The lobby was just one mass confusion. The front desk again NOT handling the situtaion. This made me feel bad because they are generally real sweet and caring. However, again totally lacks management skills in
the whole check in and check out experience.
Would we return here? Yes, however we would have only one small suitcase and a carry on.
This place is very romantic. This resort may not have marble halls or fountains, but its grounds does have a calming serenity, friendliness, a beautiful beach
and many good memories. June and Tom

We spent two weeks in Jamaica in January, the first at Couples Sans Souci and the second at Couples Swept Away. If we hadn't just come from Sans Souci we probably would have liked this resort better but SS set the standards extremely high. The first night we were bumped to Couples Negril due to overbooking. When we arrived we were given an upgrade to the beachfront suite in the old section. While I can see how it would have been beautiful at one time, it has really been let go over the years. The toilet did not work, the air conditioning leaked all over the floor and the room was in general disrepair - I certainly would not pay for this again and it was definetly not a 5* room in my opinion, more like a 3*.
The food was ok but nothing spectacular, I expected more from the fine dining restaurants such as Feathers. The service did not compare to CSS. Some of the staff were rude, such as one night when we sat a table at the Palms after waiting 15 minutes to be seated, the waiter very ignorantly told us to leave as the table wasn't ready. We went over to the bar and had a drink where we were supposed to wait and no one ever came and offered a table so we left.
The beach although beautiful was overcrowded in my opinion. Everyone was on top of each other. I think too much expansion has occurred at this resort and with the addition of 72 more rooms - this will be very crowded in the peak months.
The sports complex was impressive and we spent most of our afternoons there as it was not crowded like the beach. Very nice facilities and a nice, quiet bar where you could always get served.
We did enjoy ourselves and don't mean to sound nitpicky but this was the most money we have ever spent on a vacation and were expecting a lot more. We have paid much less in the past and had better rooms, resort and much better service. I think the problem here is the amount of expansion, as we walked through this resort 10 years ago and it seemed to have a much nicer ambience at that time.
