My wife and I have travelled extensively in recent years in the caribbean and mexico at 4 and 5 star resorts. This one ranks in the top 5 for us. If you are leaving the kids behind, these adult only resorts are the best because the food, drink, and entertainment are geared for that smaller segment of travelers rather than exspending resources on family and child activities.
CSA: Food- very good, Beach- very good, service- very good, amenities- very good
Beverages- good, entertainment- good, Rooms- large with nice easy feel but updating would be a good idea. We don't mind the older, worn look as it really helps us slow down and not take things too seriously but then again, we also like the highly polished look of newer resorts. Live music at breakfast was great. I agree with reviews that say the entertainment is too spread out and would have liked more live music at all times of day and into late evening. We enjoyed the friendly faces of all the staff and check in and out was a breeze. WE have been to Montego Bay twice and if we return to Jamaica we will definitely consider CSA again over the resorts in MoBay.

Room Tip: We could hear the street but it really did not bother us much. Loved the large porch in our garden s...

Spent a wonderful week at Swept Away from 1/4-1/11. Service was as good as it gets. Accomodations and food were above average for an all-inclusive. The beach is beautiful, great for swimming and every variety of water sports, which were available to explore free of charge. In addition there is a fantastic health and fitness complex with an enormous lap pool and numerous tennis courts. Hats off in particular to Norston, our tennis instructor, who really instructed-he was just great. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Just returned from a one week stay at CSA. It was fantastic and relaxing - we will absolutely return. The location on 7 mile beach is in a word amazing. I am not sure if I will be able to check out the other Couples on the island because the beach at CSA and our ability to walk the 5 mile stretch instantly won us over. Rather than sing the same praises that everyone else has, I will just focus on a few items:

- Vegetarians be warned - you will gain as much weight as the meatatarians because there are TONS of options here for you. Not only at seagrapes but all of the restaurants have vegetarian options. The falafals at seagrapes were my favorite at lunchtime. I did find them a tad too oily from the grill, so I just cut off the top and bottom crust and ate it more like a hummous sandwhich. But spiced amazingly with a great jamaican kick.
- The flag service for getting drinks at the beach is very fast - likely the quickest I have seen.
- If you don't like a reservation schedule, the palms and patois' food in the evening is fantastic - you don't feel like you are at a non-reservation restaurant at all and we never had more than a few minutes to wait to get seated at either. We never ate a lemongrass as my husband is not really a thai fan. Feathers was amazing (had the lionfish - sooo good) but quite cool so ladies take a cardi or shawl just in case. Definitely try the dessert sampler for two here.
- At any of the restaurants if you are hungry and would like to order extra they are more than happy to oblige. This is useful to know for plain eaters like my husband that usually doesn't like the salad, soup or the appy courses.
- My husband claimed the best massage he ever had was at the CSA spa - he was just a bit off so I suggested one day at 12:30 that he go and see if they could fit him in that afternoon. They fit him in at 1:00 for an 85 minute swedish massage.
- I never ever once felt that awkward "should I or shouldn’t I tip" delay. At couples not tipping truly means no tipping.

There are a few items that I wanted to mention that perhaps could use some improving - I am saying this not as an unhappy Couples client, but moreso as we will be back and noticed a few things that could be a bit better:
- The pools/jacuzzies at the swim-up bar are in need of some TLC - they are just starting to look tired and worn and a facelift would make that area look so much nicer. The jacuzzies aren't working properly (some jets work sometimes)
- I found some (not all) of the vendors that were on the CSA property to be even pushier than those on the beach/off resort on 7 mile. There were a few that I would be sure to completely walk around as a no thanks just didn't seem like enough.
- It would be awesome if the Cabana Grill at night would have some popcorn or nachos available rather than just diner food (hot dogs and hamburgers). Just a bit of salty snacks would be great for after those nightime drinks.
- I am not a fan of the "open only to some" events (like repeaters dinners) - it makes newcomers feel excluded. Couples is not the only resort that does this and it has always bothered me. Also, I found there were a few repeaters that were boasting about it.
- There feels like a disconnect between the evening nightlife - when the entertainment ends at the palms you need to trek all the way to the other end of the resort to Aura. I think that people would mingle more and enjoy the nightlife more if it was more centrally located.

Finally, the staff are some of the best we have seen. A big shout outs to Franc at the Dive Shop, Rose at the evening Pasta Bar at the Palms, Comical Cecil at the swim-up bar and Mark at the palms who made the best mistake ever by bringing us Banofie pie rather than lemon merange. It ranked top 10 desserts of all time!

We arrived at the airport at 6 pm Friday evening. Our bus to the resort was there right away. Unfortunately, we arrived during a rain storm and this, combined with the waning light of day, meant that we didn`t see much of Jamaica on our drive (this was our first trip to Jamaica and indeed to any place in the Carribean). When we got to the resort the beach party was already under way which meant that there was a skeleton staff to greet us upon our arrival. However, while we missed the cool towel, we did get our glass of champagne.
The rooms were just as they looked on the website. We had a second floor beach front verandah suite which we loved- much more privacy than the ground floor and way fewer stairs to climb than the third floor. We had a picturesque view of the ocean through the palm trees, and were able to view the beautiful Jamaican sunsets with no problem. I have heard complaints about such things as the number of hangers (really plenty), the hardness of the bed( we prefer firm anyway), the bathroom (plenty of vanity space for us and there is always some wear and tear on fixtures in warmer moister places). We really appreciated the excellent cleaning - with all the sand- and the quantities of towels available. The two towel rule for beach towels is not really an issue as you can exchange them at will- just remember to return them to the boat house at the end of your stay and get a receipt so that you`re not charged.

We ate at all the restauraunts. Our favourites were the Cabana Grill for Jamaican fare, and Feathers for a higher end meal. We were fortunate to eat at the latter twice and the menu had changed by the second time around. The Palms serves buffet style so it is reasonable to expect buffet style food. But there were plenty of choices for every day and every meal. Yes, some items were always the same (think salad bar and fruit platters) but the entrees always changed and a few different Jamiacan food items were featured for each. Patois was also a favourite- while it features more American food, these were usually enhanced in some Jamaican fashion and the quality was excellent. Seagrapes was also good- the sweet potato chips and the snapper were always excellent (can`t say enough about the pumpkin jalepeno dip!). Lemongrass was our least favourite but perhaps beacuse they err on the side of mildness with the heat. But it was still very good food.
The beach is as beautiful as we are led to believe. There was one day when a palapas was claimed and no one showed up all day, otherwise they were at least used by those who claimed them early in the morning. We never bothered as there are plenty of loungers and plenty of shade as well. Also, if you have excursions or spa treatments booked you don`t really need them all day anyway. We used a jacuzzi once, but after the ocean the chlorine was a little overwhelming so we just avoided them.
Check out was easy. We checked out at 10 am then went back to our room to finish packing up. We were still able to use the facilities while we waited for our bus to arrive. I don`t blame them for removing luggage promptly as rooms have to be turned over for frshly arriving guests. This also meant that our room sometimes wasn`t cleaned until 4pm. No big deal to us since there were other things to do.
As well, I have to commend the staff for always having smiles on their faces, no matter what idiotic things we tourists say or do. They were always interested in hearing where you were from, and in wishing us a wonderful vacation (along with exhortations to return!).

Our only complaint was the wine - which has been mentioned before. We got tired of all the sugar from rum and fruit and juice so would have liked to have had the option to drink a decent wine. But their room wine is TERRIBLE- and we are not picky wine drinkers. Fortunately, the sparkling wine is available in the rooms and at the bars so we could always have it instead (at breakfast, lunch and dinner!).
Overall we had a fantastic holiday and will be going back.

Room Tip: Beachfront all the way if you can afford it.

Beautiful setting. Nice resort. Wonderful food. I truly believe the number of complaints you may have about this place directly correlates to how happy you are to begin with. Looking forward to planning a return trip.

Just back from CSA and can't say enough about it. The food was excellent! Seagrapes Cafe has wonderful healthy choices you wouldn't expect, and the buffet was far above any we've been to. The beach is beautiful and the water is just perfect for floating on the rafts provided. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Great Steel Band for entertainment one night and most of the other nites were enjoyable too. Our room was comfortable and had a great balcony to enjoy. We loved leaving the doors open. Sunsets were gorgeous! I would definitely recommend this resort.

Room Tip: We had a ocean verandah and although the ocean wasn't visible thru the palm trees I loved the lo...

Returned from a short stay at Couples Swept Away Negril and it was not worth the money. Beware of the check out time. We were 20 min late only to find our bags had been REMOVED from our room and taken to reception. They cleared our belongings out of the room. We were literally treated like dogs being thrown out of our room! Having spent over £900 for 3 days this is the treatment we received.

Before our trip I emailed the hotel asking for non smoking room and let them know we would be arriving early. We were taken to our room which absolutely smelled of stale cigarette smoke. It was vile. We were taken to another room which wasnt much better.

Rooms badly need a refurbishment, they are tired and old.
Food disappointed in the buffet restaurant because the menu is the same 2 days in a row. Lunch menu the same as dinner menu.
Location is good
Staff very friendly particularly beach and bar staff
Managment a joke!

Room Tip: Ensure you are not located infront of the main road because the noise will keep you awake. Dont exp...

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for choosing Couples Resorts and providing us with helpful feedback. This will allow us to prevent similar future occurrences and ensure customer satisfaction.

Regarding ‘check-out time’, there are pamphlets/binders in every room stating that check-out time is 11:00 AM. Requests for late check-outs can be submitted prior to check-out, we recommend 24 hours in advance. Additionally, guest’s belongings are never touched unless authorized, only packed luggage is transported to the lobby at check-out time as a standard.

In response to smell of cigarettes in room, all of our rooms are smoking optional. However, our housekeeping department ensures that every check-in room smells appropriately fresh for next guest arrival.

All rooms are being renovated this summer for next season.

In terms of dining, we have 6 restaurants that provide guests with 4 choices for lunch and dinner in addition to a weekly Mediterranean and beach party buffet.
