“Middle of the road”

Reviewed February 1, 2013

We walked a good 20' from our beachfront hotel to book, following the reviews. I can't know for sure, but I wonder if the good number of alternative "glass floor boats" we passed on our way may have provided a better service. Our party of 5 was joined by a nice couple in a smallish pretty run-down boat. The snorkelling at the reef was really nice, save for the equipment supplied: reeking of gasoline and no available sizes for my 5 yo (this in spite of having informed Cap in advance). Boatsmen (2) nice and laid back, neither them our us made any fuss about them enjoying a joint whilst lunching in the island. Paid a very standard $25 per (5 yo free) for a rather sub-standard service, but OK in the end.

First time in Negril. They were conveniently located on the Seven Mile Beach. Very affordable and flexible with price. Took us fishing and snorkeling and to Booby Cay Island. Even after fishing, we got to enjoy the fish which was cooked by Captain Clarke over a fire...delicious!!! All staff was friendly and respectful. Captain Clarke himself and Leroy aka Police made sure every experience was fulfilled. Definitely got our monies worth!

As frequent travelers to Negril, we wouldn't use any other snorkeling service but Captain Clarke/Sundance Tours! Located in front of Legends and Kuyaba's resorts on Seven Mile Beach, no reservations are needed - and more often than not, you may find yourself in the boat with 1-2 other couples at most, and never jam-packed with tourists like some of the other companies. The reef is among the best we've experienced in the Caribbean - full of colorful fish, huge starfish and other sealife; and the shallow, gentle and crystal-clear waters will even make it comfortable for non-swimmers and first-time snorkelers, alike! The snorkeling runs about $25 per person (with gear and/or life jacket, if you need it), but we highly recommend pre-negoiating a multi-day package price, which they are happy to do. The main Skipper, Leroy, is a typical jovial, friendly Jamaican, who will make sure you have a blast! If you're into other watersports - i.e. fishing tours, jetskis, banana boats, or even out-island lobster cookouts - Captain Clarke/Sundance Tours is your one-stop source, with the best prices in Negril!
