First off, this was the first place we visited last year when we left the hotel. We asked the cab driver to take us somewhere with food, a bar and beach access so he dropped us here. We actually made a friend in one of the "hustlers" on the beach who was our guide for the duration of our trip. This year we went back a few times looking for him. We had lunch one day and it was ok for the price. We went during a concert one night and had a good time even though I was hustled into buying something called JB & Boom by one of the "friendly" locals we were briefly hanging out with by the bonfire. It was all the rage to these guys so I followed one of them to a little stand (not a part of Bourbon Beach BTW) to buy a small bottle of over proof rum and a bottle of Boom (like Red Bull). Ok, not bad for $10. We get back to the fire and he proceeded to pour all his buds up a shot and I end up with one small drink. A $10 shot and a lesson in friendliness versus gullibility. I knew better and still got charmed lol. It goes to show that these people are charismatic and charming but not always well meaning. No fault to him though as it worked for him! This takes nothing away from Bourbon Beach for me though because it is a great place to hang out! We did find our friend on the last day and he was as happy to see us as we were for him! i guess my point about hustlers is this, some are bad apples but most are just making a living. Some are just more genuine than others so if you're in Negril one day and you meet DJ Greggory, trust him!
