Brian and I aren't your typical backpackers. We arrived with 2 pieces of large luggage ( because our daughter was being married in Ochos Rios the next week and we carried alot of wedding dresses and accessories with us. ) We arrived 13 hours late due to weather and technical delays so we were tired ... a little grumpy.. unsure of where we were going. But Sue, you made us feel welcome from the first moment and helped us get over our jet lag in record time. The coffee and sweet condensed milk was amazing and reinvigorated us .
The gardens were absolutely beautiful with flowers, butterflies everywhere and hummingbirds with local songbirds. The neighbourhood was a typical Jamaican rural setting with resident roosters, chickens and goats feeding next door. Sue acquainted us with the local merchants and where we could go to beach bum for a few days.
Our stay was only made more special by Sue's wonderful stories, the other backpackers world experiences ( while there we shared space with a people from America, Quebec, Australia, Argentina and Morocco.. ) We felt totally safe there with Brownie, the guard dog and Martell the local security guard who watched out for any strays who might try to access the Judy House property. The next week we stayed in a 5 star hotel and were invaded by hotel security guards one night who were "checking" our room without knocking...Judy House beat them hands down for feeling more secure.
We really enjoyed New Years eve on the ocean at the Canoe resteraunt and bringing in the new year with friends we had made at the hostel. Sue I must apologize for Brian taking the towel from his room. He thought it was his from home.... we promise to return it the next trip we make ! Thanks for making us feel at home and welcome. We will make Judy House a destination on our next trip to Jamaica.
