The sand was nice although it was a little rocky. Non motorized water sports was ok. Had to sign up and wait a while to use equipment as they only have 1 of each piece of equipment on hand

As in other places in Jamaica, the beach actually 'closes' at 4-5pm. We had to coax the security guard to let us in. The beach was very good and accessible. The bathrooms were amazingly clean, given that it is a public beach with local access.

The Ochi market is nearby and you can get a good price from the locals on souvenirs.

The prices for diving, snorkeling etc were pretty expensive given that the prices were in USD.

a little annoying getting stopped by one person and then once you leave them someone else wants to sell you a day out

First, I've had better beach excurisions while on cruise. My problem was not with the beach, it was clean, we had fun, and the staffing was good and respectful and provided a nice atmosphere and lunch.

Tip the restroom attendant, drink the coconut rum, but make sure you ask for more rum.

Our primary problem is that Jamaica hasn't seemed to embrace tourism like the Bahamas or Fiji or a number of other countries. I'd serious suggest that the Jamaican Tourism Board send a delegation to Nassau and Suva, Fiji to see how their governments set up tourism. Both make sure that who ever interacts with the tourists, the areas they go to, etc. they feel safe and also get a balanced idea of where they are. We came away from Ocho Rios thinking we'd never be back.
