“Seven year itch trip.....scratched just right!”
Reviewed February 25, 2010

Maybe not five star, but way better than most in terms of food, drinks, attitude, and fun. No kids (not that I don't like them, I have two) just, if you are looking to get away from yours, maybe someone elses aren't that great either. We stayed here before the redo so we didn't see the all the enhancements, but I definately would like to. Piano bar was a lot of fun in the evenings, pools and the Island during the day. Yes, the island.... Nothing weird was happening when we went, on the whole the people were really down to earth and friendly. No facades there:) ha ha ha Make sure you take the sunset catamaran, mountain horseback ride only if you don't mind wearing a helmet that maybe thousands of others have worn (I wore my baseball hat underneath) and riding a horse that could use a week or two at the buffet, would have liked to have taken the glass bottom boat ride but got up too late (too many chocolate martinis), snorkeling was fun too (may want to bring your own mask. Still have great memories of this trip, go go go!

P.S. Do not really recommend the Margaritaville Trip, maybe just for the youngsters, drinks suck, way over priced and a definate Gang presence in town.
P.P.S. Great beds, quiet rooms, but no mini fridge when we went in 2007.

Travel to resort:
Long drive from Mo Bay, but our driver Uncle Shorty was fantastic in pointing out highlights and answering questions (I'm a big question asker, so I kept him busy). He kept on the reggae music and was a great driver. I've been more worried about my safety in cabs in the US and Europe and felt at ease. Stopped twice- once for beers and jerk chicken (awesome) and once to take photos. We loved seeing where Usain Bolt went to high school, and I loved seeing the ports and some industry (we work in manufacturing).

Arrival: The lobby is GORGEOUS. VERY South Beach feeling, elegant and classy. I thought the couches and chairs were very cool. Our rooms weren't ready, despite arrival at around 4:00 pm. Wasn't a big deal as we were given cool towels and sparkling wine, and were walked to the pool grill to get a bite to eat, more Red Stripe, and take in our surroundings. After we ate a bit we went back and our rooms were ready- and then were given lovely rum punches. :)

Rooms: We each had garden view rooms. Ours was on the first floor, which I loved, because it was very roomy and I LOVED the patio and garden RIGHT THERE. The big downside was that we were only two rooms from the lobby and it was QUITE loud. I didn't say anything because I liked the patio enough not to mind TOO much. I was woken up several times each night and early in the am, but no one was obnoxious-just worker noise and some "happy" folks heading back to their rooms. Also, hot water was hit or miss but the temp was usually comfortable enough not to be a big issue. We had the problem with water all over the floor after showers, even when aiming the shower head in different directions. But all in all, the room was beautiful. Quite comfortable and lots of storage space. I LOVE the light fixtures and art work throughout the hotel. I didn't realize that the carafe in the rooms had ice water in them until I got home and read that on TripAdvisor. Duh. Assumed they were for coffee and never double checked. :)

Food: Fantastic! I was SO impressed with the buffet, as I do NOT like buffets. This was was terrific. I especially liked the Jamaican stations. We loved the veggie bar for lunch, delicious healthy options which made me feel better about drinking all day... :) Pool grill was delicious too. Loved the evening restaurants.

Grounds: Beautiful. I loved finding the parrots and appreciate signs telling me what the trees are and things. SO well maintained and lush.

Spa: LOVED IT. Very professional and luxurious. Liked the spas and steam rooms that were available without other services.

Staff: Top notch, of course. So friendly and helpful, ALL the time. How do they do that??!!

Beach: The weather didn't always cooperate, so we didn't get to do any water sports. It was either raining or too windy for our trip. But we had plenty of fun laying in the sun on the beach when it was available (the sun, not the beach) and loved the fruit kebobs and beach drink delivery. HEAVEN.

Overall, we had a fantastic time and would recommend this resort. Oh, the evening entertainment was WONDERFUL. That was an unexpected surprise- we are talking professional quality shows every night. Good stuff.

My wife and I booked this for a 3 night stay and it was a perfect little getaway. We visited Swept Away which is in Negril and we felt confident booking this one since it was a Couples brand. This is a smaller version of Swept Away but has all what you need, good food and drinks. Small private beach and a small island where you can strip down naked. Good water sports as well. FYI, this resort was refurbished last summer so we don’t know how it was before, but from what we were told it was huge improvement since this was the first Couples resort built. Go to the Piano Bar and you will see old photos of the resort which is interesting.

The only downside is that the entertainment was lacking. The restaurants were nice and had a good selection.

If you need a quick getaway with sun, sand, food and drinks then this is for. If you are big on entertainment then go to Swept Away.

This resort really is all-inclusive. You don't have to worry about food as you can always get something to eat. The only complaint I would have is certain restaurants are only open certain hours, so depending on when you get hungry, you may not get to eat what you want. Customer service was great and the staff was really friendly. The resort is small and it's relatively easy to talk with other people if you choose. Lots of activities were included to help reduce additional costs.

Resort was OK. Staff made the whole trip! Beds were not very comfy and at times, kinda felt like a prisoner of the resort due to safety issues wuith leaving the resort. Weather was awesome, except for one day.

My husband and I have stayed at Couples Swept Away and Couples Negril (and also a Riu In Negril) - Ocho Rios is much different than Negril. Tower Isle, while beautiful and a Couples resort which makes it a pretty much perfect vacation, is no where near what the resorts in Negril have to offer. The crowd seemed older, the "Tower Island" was NOT clothing "optional" - it was mandatory that you run around nude, or they would turn you away. This made our options for scenery change and bar options and pool options much more limited than we expected. We missed the vendors walking the beach, the men playing music on the beach, and the 7 miles of white sand as you would find in Negril.
Don't get me wrong - any stay at a Couples resort is wonderful - but Ocho Rios is not the same as Negril. I knew it wouldn't be, but was hoping for a bit more nightlife or one more bar to hang out at......
It was a great time, all in all, but we thought it important to mention these small things that would have made our vacation a bit better.

Hello and thank you for your review of Couples Tower Isle. You are right - Ochi and Negril are very different. Ochi has more soft adventure type excursions - Dunn's River Falls, Mystic Mountain, etc and a has an amazing green mountain back drop. The beaches are very secluded and scalloped. Negril has one long public beach with more action and people. Negril is more flat, until you get to the far west end of cliffs. Thanks again, we look forward to welcoming you home again soon,

Customer Service: Out of this world! Staff are sincerely concerned about your satisfaction.

Hotel: Beautiful - the redesign is wonderful.

Check-in: a little disorganized considering there were only 12 people checking in.

Rooms: Nicely decorated and clean. Disappointed that towel art was only made on the arrival day but none after that - I always enjoy returning to the room at the end of the day to see different towel art. One big disappointment: no mini fridge in the room, no bottled water, however they do leave ice water in a carafe every day.

Food: Scrumptious! Very high quality. No line ups at any of the buffet meals. Also free in-room continental breakfast every day.

Bar Service: Cannot beat it - regular service without leaving your lounge! No line ups! No tipping required!

Beach: Very clean, but very small-if you like long walks on the beach this isn't the one for you. Swimming area is small. No problem getting a lounge chair anytime of the day.

Pools: Very clean, quite cool.

Entertainment: Nice live music during dinner. Did not stay for the 9:30pm shows.

Excursions: 6 included with package - Dunn's River Falls is fun but not for anyone with mobility problems, wearing hearing aids, etc.

Internet: awesome perk - free fast wired and wireless access

Location: a bit of a disappointment - a 2 hour drive from the airport - slightly less returning to the airport because 2 10 min. stops are omitted.

Problem: One night we woke up to an extremely strong smell of something burning - we actually thought there might have been a fire in the hotel but upon checking we think that it might have been garbage being burned somewhere near the hotel.

Warning! at the airport be very careful with the weight of your suitcases - make sure each case weighs at least 1-2 kg under the max 20kg! Many people were being charged outrageous $US per kg even though suitcases should have weighed the same or less - we noticed one scale had been set to 1.3kg before anything was put on them.

Conclusion: Definitely a beautiful resort to visit.
