“Great location, but at a price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013

The food at this restaurant was good, but not astoundingly good considering that it was one of the most expensive meals we had during our trip to Jamaica. While the attempt to create a menu that creates a fusion between traditional jamaican cuisine and haute cuisine was a good one. The result was that neither form of cooking was really done justice. Bamboo Blu's location, which allows for dinning on a large deck right on the beach, was the best part of the experience. Hearing the waves lap at the shore while a musician played some acoustic reggae tunes definitely made the price of the meal a bit easier to swallow (no pun intended).

Thank you for your review!

"Jah Happystone" is our guitarist and one of the main reasons guests come back over and over again! We're glad you enjoyed his music :)

“Excellent Experience!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013

We stumbled upon Bamboo Blu after walking the beach out of the RIU resort in Ocho Rios. What a hidden gem. At first glance it just looks like a outdoor, beachfront restaurant, however, when the cruise ships are not in and the place is not busy with tourists, it is a great place to relax. We heard the food was amazing but only got to sample the wings (they were great!). What sold us most was the outstanding service and drinks made to order. We absolutely fell in love with the young, fun and eager to please staff. We miss you already. If you get the chance to visit make sure you tell Clayton, Andre' (bar tenders) and Keceme and Kim (waitstaff) we said hello. Just when we thought the atmosphere could not get any better Mr. Gladstone (older Rastafarian) played and sang Bob Marley on his guitar. Between the outstanding water front views, amazing staff, good drinks and authentic Jamaican music this place seemed like a Utopia. A wonderful place to get some R & R.

On cruise ship days our property is usually busy with guests and it's a very fun and exciting place to be! Other days it's a more relaxing and laid back atmosphere, which you seem to have enjoyed thoroughly :)

Thank you for your amazing review & we hope you return to try the rest of our menu!

“Let's just say "Wonderful"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

My husband and I were in Jamaica July 8-12th. We were within walking distance of this restaurant. We dined initially for dinner but we enjoyed it so much that we returned the next 2 days for lunch & dinner again. The service was wonderful. The food was wonderful. The atmosphere was wonderful as well. After dining we relaxed on the comfy beach bed & listened to & watched the beautiful sights and sounds of the Caribbean Sea. If I ever return to Ocho rios Jamaica the Blu Bamboo is a must visit on my list. It's like it's own all inclusive. Great food, atmosphere & entertainment all in one. Be sure to visit this spot--it really added a special memory to our vacation getaway.

The food was delicious. My husband had a huge lobster that just melted in your mouth, and the festival that was really good also, I had stuffed crab that was good as-well.

“Bamboo Blu was just awesome...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

Eating @ the Bamboo Blu is a must especially if you are staying next door at the RIU. Despite our pleasant stay at the RIU we wanted to get a away for 2 or 3 evening meals. First up...Bamboo Blu as recommended by TA.

The location on the beach is spot on beautiful. I had walked over the day before to make reservations @ 7 for a table on the outside deck. When my family of 4 arrived we were seated close to the beach...which set the tone for a terrific evening.

Drinks and food were excellent. The service was outstanding thanks to Olivia. Pleasant attitude...brilliant smile and she adorned the kids. We left with a new friend.

As the week passed we were looking to head to Scotchies, but it presented a few challenges for my small children...so we headed back to Bamboo Blu. Olivia was a main part of our decision to head back...in fact she was suppose to leave at 7 but the restaurant was super busy and she stayed to wait on us.

Again, another fantastic meal. Ribs very tasty as well as the festival. Key Lime Pie is highly recommended.
