“So worth $20/pp”
Reviewed November 12, 2011

My husband and I did this excursion together and loved it. I wore my own five finger water shoes and he had on sketcher tennis shoes, which meant he had to rent the water shoes from one of the booths at $7/pair and they were truly ugly. Better to make sure you bring/buy your own ahead of time. Be forewarned of the vendors that will try to sell and push items on you before and after the trip. One guy put two coconut necklaces in my husband's hand and said "free, for your lady," then said, "$10 donation." They are very sneaky. We also ended up buying the $40 DVD---not worth the money since they stop filming halfway up the falls, and the group is usually so large you're not on it much, ours is about 20 minutes long. Then you tip the guide and videographer too. But back to the falls, they are absolutely beautiful, the hike is easy for 7+, and you do get wet. Do not bring anything of value that can't get wet. We had on tank-tops and shorts over our bathing suits and we should have taken them off before going. There are a couple of parts during the falls where you end up underwater---if you wish, a little rock "water-slide", and a place where you can fall backwards into a pool of water-"Jamaican bapitism" as the guide stated. Fun, but surprising since I was the first in line. All-in-all, we had a great time and would do this again in a heartbeat. There were no lines/waiting the day we went, we walked right in. We came in from a resort, so there were no cruise ships there that day. Our taxi guide said that those are the days when it is super crowded. Next time we would wear less clothes, not buy the DVD and avoid all vendors. HAVE FUN!!!

“Natural beauty - Destroyed by Greed.”
Reviewed November 12, 2011

The Falls themselves are nice. But I would not go back due to the pan handling, beggers and aggressive barkers.
They turned a beautiful natural resource into a dirty tourist trap.

“Something to see!”
Reviewed November 12, 2011

We did the walk up the falls tour and it was a lot of fun. Most least expensive excursion to visit in Jamaica ($45 pp). It is quite the hike up & tricky finding your footing in some of the water areas. And you do get WET, do not bring anything you dont want wet. Make sure to have good water shoes or even tennis shoes as the water off the falls in some areas is gushing. Also make sure you have "secure" swim bottoms or trunks (they might fall off). This is not for small children or people having trouble walking. Falls are about 80% shaded so no need to worry about sunglasses or much sunscreen. Be aware of when your're finished as the exit leads you out to pushy vendors. They also offer a walk up the side of the falls where you will not get wet & can still see everything. However, I think that might be kind of boring.

“A must do your first visit at least”
Reviewed November 11, 2011

The only thing we didn't like was they really wanted you to buy their video and there was some very pushy people at the top of the falls wanting you to buy souvoniers.
