Owner description: A famous Jamaican landmark, this breathtaking picture-perfect white sand beach is a tropical slice of heaven. Lounge chairs are lined along the seashore, some grouped amongst shady random clusters of hundred year old almond and palm trees, while others are arranged closer to the waters edge. Enjoy soft reggae music and great Jamaican hospitality. A large bamboo bar offers exotic cocktails and beverages, and the seaside restaurant serves tasty local cuisine.

“Worth the price of admission”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

This beach was a mile from our B&B, perfect.
$9 each for admission was well worth it.
Bathrooms and showers available.
Free seating on the beach, chair service available for food and drinks.
Bring water shoes, the first 10 feet of ocean had coral bottom.
Somewhat strong current, but great to swim.
Quiet, clean and beautiful.

“Reggae Beach”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Pretty beach, but pricey $9.50 per person to enter. They do provide beach chairs and there is a bar. It does cater to the cruise ship crowd so it can be busy.

“Careful of cheating staff...”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

The girls at the bar tried to cheat us in different ways before the manager eventually intervened.

Otherwise, the beach is pretty nice, but one has to go before or after the visitors from the cruises.

“great beach”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

In our road trip in Jamaica, we visited most all beaches both on the North and South coasts and Reggae Beach was the one that we enjoyed the best.

The beach is about a 5-min ride away from downtown Ocho Rios. It’s got beautiful waters, white sand (actually very small stones that don’t even stick), and a well-ran bar/restaurant and restroom/shower facilities. The entrance fee at about $10-12/person is comparable to other commercial beaches. Once inside, the lounge chairs are free. You don’t need umbrellas as the tropical trees that line the beach provide enough shade. The owner is a gentleman named Ilan. He personally welcomes every guest and attends to their needs – which, in our experience, is not that all that common in Jamaica. The staff is friendly, the food, cocktails, and DJ music were all great. In our two days there, the beach got busy at times but never too packed. We were told that they regularly throw big parties on the beach but unfortunately we missed them.

What we loved the most about the Reggae beach was its laid back atmosphere and the sense of exclusivity which makes it unique among the other more touristy beaches. If we had another day to stay in Ocho Rios, we’d have definitely headed for the Reggae Beach again. Highly recommended.

“nice quite change”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

after the constant noise of oco rios this beach was a wonderful change. Food was good and fresh simple nothing fancy but good. the bamboo lounges are great but a bit hard on the buttock. LOL but over all a nice empty beach more of this in Jamaica would be welcomed! The only problem was that weather but that was not their fault. Nice bathrooms and changing area.
