Perfect location

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 29, 2007
I would go again and it was actually my third stay, I liked it better when they had entertainment during the day and every night and the buffet but I know everyone did not partipate it could have been pricey, I had a ball, and did not have to have a tour guide to go places. Love the location and the kitchenette, the staff were great too and Dave is so special

We stayed at the Sandcastles resort in Jamaica on Main St.. It was a very missleading all inclusive resort. Also not a very clean resort and a bit pricey in comparison with resorts in the maybe not so immediate area. The really ony good thing I can say about the resort is that the employees really made my stay enjoyable. The employees gave a FIVE STAR PREFORMANCE in a two star resort. They made my stay very enjoyable in spite of the conditions.

This property has a set of units that are leased by private owners. This is the best way to stay here. Buy your own food, get a car and use the property as a private condo. This leads to a great stay. The beach is great and nurses round bar is a true and real Jamaican social stop. Moreen and her husband Garfield run the water sports at the entrance to the beach and they are very long term special Jamaicans. For private security find Liska Larwrence he is a thirty year ochi-man and is well versed on what you should do and not do. Above all remember Jamaica is a third world country, hence don,t be foolish. Enjoy the people, be respectfull and the real Jamaica can be found at this property. Twenty-seven years and over one hundred stays in Ochi leads to a great life. A smile and a good word will get you more than not. I hope to see you here. (Randy) godfather

After making the reservation and handing over my credit card number, I felt comfortable that we had found a place to take our out-of town guests on the other side of the island (we live in Kingston). No problem, mon, we've got two rooms for you, your guests, your toddler and your 3 mos old baby, and we can put a crib in the room for you.
Then we arrived after the usual 2 hour harrowing ride over the mountains of Jamaica. And, surprise, they did not have our reservation. At first they did not believe me when I said I made the reservation. So I took out my cell phone and showed them the call made to their number on that date. And then it was "So sorry, there's nothing we can do, we're booked up." They sent us to the Village Hotel, a much smaller and lesser-star place, which had friendlier and more helpful staff, but unfortunately could not accomodate the small children. I spoke with the operations manager for sandcastles later and he was not helpful at all. At least when Rooms on the Beach loses your reservation, they make it up to you; the staff at Sandcastles could not care less and make sure you know it! We had to turn around and drive all the way back to Kingston.

Had the most laid back time, chilling, without all the falseness, that come with some of the other hotels. Room was cleaned every day, staff were very friendly, I have recommended this hotel (Sancastles) to at least 3 friends, who have agreed, and even my mum, and she's fussy.

All in all, I loved it, my sister loved it, my mum (Jamaican) loved it, and I'll definately go back
