“Amazing Honeymoon @ Jamaica Inn :)”
Reviewed August 23, 2010

What an amazing place!!! We rented cottage 3 during our stay and we had the best time our lives (other than our wedding day, of course!) From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a spectacular place to enjoy our honeymoon. Everyone at Jamaica Inn, welcomes you with arms wide open & you feel that you are at home while on vacation. Cottage 3 was beyond what we could imagine it to be: private entrance, private balconies/terraces, private plunge pool, private outdoor shower, and your own private entrance to the Ocean! It was a dream come true for us! The food and service were of exceptional value & the manager, Mary, makes sure that you are enjoying your stay! We also had the pleaser of meeting one of the owners, Eric Morrow, who was down to earth and also made sure that we were enjoying our stay! To us, this was a tropical paradise, tucked away alongside a beautiful stretch of a private beach - where you could truly enjoy the meaning of a "relaxing vacation"! We look forward to visiting Jamaica Inn again & again & again :)

Truely the best vacation I have ever had, I came home and felt reborn and new. This tranquil resort offers so much ....so simply....from the most spectacular beach ever...to some of most stunning veiws from private rooms that are well appointed, bringing the lush beauty of Jamaica in to every vista...we fed the abundant tropical fish right from the veranda from our room which was situated right on the reef and ocean...being able to enjoy the comforts of home.. while being so close to the natural tropical setting was astounding!!! The attention to detail with food preparation and quality was above 5 star...every meal was spectacular in taste, freshness and presentation, and the service and attention from the amazingly warm and genuine staff impecable.....wine and beverages were top notch as well....peaceful, serene, accommodating and quality food , this resort is a delight to all the senses, from the amazing tropical grounds and beach to the warmth and beauty of the azure blue carribean sea, to the Inn's immpecable and delightful dining opportunies... and a spa which is sure to delight and renew even the most weary of sprits....a great destination to wed, honeymoon, or rejuvinate your inner peace...quiet... private... stunningly beautiful....

Been to 5-6 islands and resorts in Caribbean over the last decade. This was by far the best resort i have experienced. We went for our honeymoon for 6 nights in the White Suite. If you are looking for a loud party scene this is not your place (try one of the Sandals chains...). This place is beautiful. the prettiest beach in Ocho Rios (much larger beach than other resorts) and hidden from rest of beach by rocks in both sides. Very large spacious property with only 47 suites. the best thing about this place is the personality. This is not a corporate resort. All employees Jamaican. Manager and Owner both walk the property daily, make a point to speak to and get to know every guest. Restaurant was very good wide selection of fish, great lunch as well. Very relaxing beach bar with Teddy and Rupert. One thing that speaks largely about this resort is
1.they dont advertise and dont need to
2. every person you speak to has been coming there every year for the last 6-10 years and is there yearly vacation.
There is not a bad room in the whole place. The White suite is truly awesome, your own peninsula extending into the Carribean, but really isnt needed (all other suites are great as well).
I research many resorts and enjoy traveling. The service and atmosphere is truly special. Restaurant, beach bar, and main bar are great. If you are a work out buff, the fitness center is nothing special.
This place is one of a kind and wish there were more resorts like this in the world and will be returning next year.

As always our stay at the Inn was amazing. Every time we return, I find another reason to return for our next visit. This visit marked our 4th time to the inn in the last 5 years. There is always something that draws us back to what we call "Home".
Could it be the Staff, it might be the transportation with the cold beverage from the airport, or it might just be the fact that Mary welcomes us with a smile and her boys by her side. Every time we are at the inn we have not been disappointed, and this time was no different.
We finally did not have to split up our stay and had the white suite for our 8 day stay, which was still too short. The pool has been redone in the white suite since our last visit, and it was just perfect. I finished a whole book one day while just floating in the pool or sitting on the steps relaxing. The new wood deck that covers up the old stone at the point is helpful as now you can walk out and comfortably use the double chaise lounge.
I love staying in the White Suite with all of its history, and the fact that it is very secluded and private. I could go on and on about the room all day. No room or cottage is bad at the Inn, and everyone is treated equally by the staff. You never have to fight for a beach chair, kayak, or snorkel equipment.
I will have to admit that it is the Staff at the Jamaica Inn that keeps us coming back. Each and every person on staff at the Inn is what makes it such a special place. The Jamaica Inn is one of the few properties on the Island that’s staff is made up of all Jamaicians, and these people take pride in their work. Every morning and evening our room was perfectly tended too, from housekeeping (thank you Sadie), to gardeners, to the pool being taken care of and fresh towels placed on all our lounge chairs and by the pool. The refrigerator being restocked by Georgia when asked, or a musquito net being put over the bed so quickly. While we were there the inn was named #1 jamaica hotel by the readers of Travel and leisure, and #3 in the Carribean. I am telling you people this is the place to stay, just say no to the Big chains like Sandals and trust the private inn. Give it a try.
I would rather be the person that people are staring at from a crammed full boat ride from snorkeling, then to be stuck having dinner every night with over 200 people and sharing a beach with them too. Jamaica Inns beach is private, clean, and not loud.
When we needed a drink it was off to the beach bar to see Rupert and Georgia who took care of us quite often. Even when my stomach was a little under the weather Rupie made me a special drink to help settle it and boy did it help. I felt much better and enjoyed the rest of my day. Teddy was not there during our stay, but he is always a joy to see. Gray, Donald and Robert took care of our lunch orders right at the beach bar, no need to walk up to dine. My husband would then stay for a croquet match with Rupie, and sometimes Marvin (who helped secure the win) would show up to play.
Some people complain about the dress code for dinner, We enjoy getting dressed up for our evening out with a nice cocktail hour and then a great five course meal. Patrice always made sure our cocktails came right after we found a seat, and Richie always greeted us with a smile. You never know when you sit down for cocktails what time you will make it down for dinner but we never worried we always had a table and the service is the same if you sit at 7:30 or 9:00. The dinner staff is all there to serve you and they do not disappear just because you may be the last table to sit.
We had a few days that it rained, but that is o.k. We were there to relax and spend time together and that is just what we did.
It was sad when we had to go, but we were lucky enough to share a ride with some special passengers to the airport. Thank you Mary for letting us travel with you and your boy. He made me not want to go, but gives me a good reason to return again to see him. I love I&I and his son Zion, and can't wait to see them again and our Home away from Home again.

Jamaica Inn was one of those places that sticks with you for a long time-- in a land of huge all-inclusives, this place gets the personal touch just right. Each suite feels like a private home with gorgeous amenities and the outdoor veranda-- and ice cold water and candles!-- make it so easy to just sit, relax, and listen to the hummingbirds call out at night and the waves crashing. This is easily the best private beach we were in in Jamaica-- calm, secluded, explorable, and so fun to swim in at night by the moonlight! Met some amazing people at Teddy's beach bar, and the staff and management-- Gant, Sherlene, Mary-- all went out of their way to make you feel welcomed and at home. We'll definitely be back!

Upon entering the premises, you might actually bump into the GM or owner and carry on a happy, casual conversation with them (possibly even as you are checking in with the staff that shares this personal touch). This sets the tone for a wonderful and peaceful hotel complete with a private beach and hammock (a most important attribute).
Go to the beach bar and ask if Teddy, a 52-year member of the staff, will make you a delectable Dirty Banana and sing "Donna," or "Lady in Red" for you because all of the returning winter crowd often demands it. After frolicking in the ocean and swinging leisurely on the hammock, you can get yourself one of the largest breakfasts you might have in Jamaica. Note: only order one. The fruits are fresh, the eggs are fluffy, and the ackee and salt fish...c'est la guerre. The ice cream is extremely affordable, despite the 25% service charge (get used to it, it is all over the island). I suggest a scoop of chocolate and rum raisin. MMMMMMM.....
The room offers a comfy bed, candles (another important attribute), and an open-air living room complete with a desk and sofas that make each night relaxing as you look out onto the croquet pitch and pool, which was not open often enough for my tastes, but the ocean is just steps away for a late night dip.
Overall, this is the best place to stay if you want peace, quiet, and beauty.

We had to make last minute changes to our vacation when Sandals called us to cancel our reservations 10 days before our departure date! Frantically, I began looking for viable options that could take us for the same dates, as our airfare was nonrefundable. After what seemed like an endless selection of unappealing options, I found the Jamaica Inn through Trip Advisor, and from the first moment, I knew it was everything I had dreamt of. The staff was very accommodating, and booked us on the Honeymoon package with such very short notice. We spent the first 3 days of our trip in the White Suite, which was an incredibly historic and aesthetically pleasing compound which included its own step ladder into the sea, private pool, and incredible location. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend staying in any place other than this room. It had been previously booked for the second half of our stay (due to the last minute notice) and we were moved to the comparably priced yet inferior cottages. Although we had the best cottage, which came with an infinity pool looking out onto to the ocean, outdoor shower, and more modernized accomodations, we had trouble enjoying them as the location was plagued by mosquitos.
The service was good throughout the week, although we found it to be better in the White Suite- possibly because it is closer to the main buildings and restaurant. The staff was very accommodating and helpful- particularly the front desk, who set up all of our sightseeing excursions for us. The food is very high quality- I would rate it on par with some of the better restaurants I have eaten in- however, they do tend to focus their energy on dinner- the breakfast and in-between menus were more mediocre. The chef does an amazing job of incorporating local Jamaican flavor and traditions into an elegant fusion cuisine.
Overall, I would say that the service is of a quality I rarely see anymore, and there is a very familial atmosphere- when my husband and I spent most of the time in our room, everyone commented that they never saw us and missed us at the evening cocktail hour. The accomodations in the premiere suites looked somewhat small, although all are pleasantly situated, and the classic, azure building is soothing in itself. Another bonus for us about this hotel was the quiet atmosphere- we were happy to avoid the crazed partying and tacky atmosphere of most of the other resorts we saw while there, and happy that the room didn't include a TV or computer access, so we could really re-connect and enjoy each other. One downside if you are looking to work out- the "Fitness Center" is somewhat of an afterthought which is really hidden in a converted suite with one treadmill, one elliptical, and a few weights. Also, it isn't air conditioned! My husband and I tried to work out once or twice but gave up!
