“Finally, just a Mommy and Daddy Trip.”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

Stayed 5-23-5/26
Our trip started off rocky due to the heavy rain at the MBJ airport. Our plane was re-routed to Kingston Airport and then re-routed back to MBJ airport. Our 3 1/2 hour travel turned into an 8 hour flight travel. My husband and I were not in the best of spirits. I spoke with Shenae at the front desk several times and she made sure our driver would wait. Driver Mr. Cecil waited the additional 4 hours us at the airport. Once we arrived Mr. Cecil drove us to the hotel with soothing reggae music that calm our aggrevated nerves. Shenae made sure we spoke with dining so dinner would be delivered to our room when we arrive at 10pm. The gentlemen in dining said our meal would be delivered 10 mins after 10...10 mins after 10pm our dinner was delivered to our Verandah. When we finally arrived Shenae said, " welcome home drop your bags you do nothing else from this point". Kingsley took us to our room. Out all the staff we encountered at the Jamaica Inn, Kingsley and Shenae left the biggest impression on my husband and I. Both were kind, calming, happy, informative...just outstanding!! Bartendar Palmer made the BEST drinks. Yolanda and Pauline from the Ocean Spa were amazing during our 50min couples massage. I liked Icolyn from housekeeping. She was polite, didn't say much, but our room was immaculate when she was done. The food was delicious, served hot everytime. Every waiter that delivered our food was awesome, every single waiter. For a first Mommy and Daddy trip with out our 3 children Jamaica Inn made it a great trip. I could go on and on, but I'll simply finish by saying Jamaica Inn is the BEST place to go.

Room Tip: The BEST rooms are the Premier Verandah Suites in the Beach Wing, rooms 41-48. We were in room #45...

We returned from a 9 day holiday feeling refreshed and renewed. We listened to the birds and the sea. There was peace and quiet on the beach and throughout the property without being "stuffy." Both staff and guests were friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed and calm.

The accommodations are totally comfortable with all necessary amenities, complete with the luxurious verandas which face the sea and are surrounded by gardens. We had two banana trees providing some shade and we watched two stands ripening. The staff keep everything exceptionally clean despite the tropical climate. Fresh flowers adorned our room, bath, and veranda. Turn down service is complete and done with care. It's traditional service throughout with the staff who smile and engage in conversation when invited to do so. The Jamaican crew at the Inn are long time employees, and are friendly and happy to tell you which tropical flowers they are bringing and about their food and culture. A delightful group to be around.

The culinary department is excellent. Care with foods and preparation and fine service combine to make each dining experience special. We felt totally pampered. Hot was hot, cold was cold. Local fish wonderful and we live on the sea in Maine so our expectations are high. Had fun going to the local market day with the chef and meeting the vendors and talking about the local spices and recipes. Their vegetables are gorgeous.

The spa was perfect. Located overlooking the sea, the therapist was well trained and my husband went three times, as it helped him to relieve too many days of winter sitting. I loved it to relieve the body after the long flight.

Every evening there were different bands which came during/after dinner for entertainment. They varied and were local and fun.

Upon our early departure, before breakfast, they left some breakfast in our refrigerator on the veranda as well as provided us with a healthy snack for the long flight home so we could avoid the airport choices.
Most appreciated and kind from every perspective.

It is unusual to find a place which pays attention to real guest satisfaction and needs. Jamaica Inn does that. They are attuned to comforts and anticipate needs unobtrusively. That is an exceptionally rare quality in the hospitality business. They are gracious without pretension. After all these years we are so pleased to have found this place and will return.

Thank you to all at the Jamaica Inn as you really do work seamlessly as a team. Well done!!!

All of the reviews you will read below are true. This Inn is exactly as advertised. We have been here twice and plan to make it every year from now on. We stayed in Room 25 which is on the beach. You just can't beat walking out your door ten feet to the beach. Guests get up early, and go to bed early. You don't want to miss a minute of daylight here. I can add the following:

Arrange airport transfer through the Jamaica Inn with Michael.
There are no bugs flying or crawling.
The Air Conditioning actually works very well in spite of the lack of actual windows.
Get breakfast delivered to your room every day.
Ask Christopher to set up your beach bed while you are eating breakfast. He's wonderful.
Eat lunch on the beach every day under your palapa.
Don't skip the Manager's Cocktail Reception.
Don't skip the Beach Barbecue.
All-inclusive was a good deal for us.

Few words about the barbecue: Many people ordered room service that night. We almost did that, too. We were so glad we went. This is not your typical barbecue. The food was delicious. They do not serve at communal tables. You get to dine in peace on the beach. It was just lovely.

We enjoyed our many chats with owner Peter Morrow. In fact, both owners were in residence while we were there. Peter walked the beach every day and greeted all the guests. They really do make you feel like you are home.

The bed linens were out of this world. Cool, tightly stretched sheets. Ahhh. If you are a light sleeper and you stay in rooms to the East you may want to bring along earplugs. There are a couple of roosters nearby who get up at 4AM.

And lastly, I would like to reiterate that this place is not really for children. We come here to get away from our children. It was so relaxing to be on the beach and not hear any shouting or loud laughing. I hope Jamaica Inn continues with their policy about not booking families with young children. This place is for grown-ups who need to unplug in luxury from their lives.

Room Tip: There is no bad room here. We like to walk out to the beach and we have stayed in Room 23 and Room 2...

We have stayed here twice, once for a wedding and then for our own honeymoon. It's been several years since then but the hotel continues to win awards for excellence. There really is nothing like this place. Service is beyond wonderful. Beach is beyond gorgeous. Food is excellent. I have never been able to unwind as much as I did at this resort. Highly recommend the beach front room. Hop over the ballestared waist high fence and you are on the beach. Truly a remarkable place. One of the only places we have ever gone back to!

Room Tip: Beach front room!

I've read a lot of the reviews. There is nothing I can add. I was here a lot in the late 60s, 70s and 80s as a very young and yuppie young person, and I went back this time because my travelling companion booked and paid as a surprise. What is there left to say? I'll add one thing to the other reviews. I travel too much on business to enjoy travel or travel destinations as an avocation. However, if there were one hotel to which I could go on a holiday for a week, this would be it. Feel encouraged to buy the best room available. Book in advance. One last point. I saw the bill. It was amazingly modest (full board) when compared to many of the fashionable "spas" opening around the Caribbean and Southeast Asia. Please, therefore, let me add one extra star for "VALUE."

Room Tip: I prefer being able to roll off the veranda onto the beach. Higher rooms may have higher views.

From the moment we arrived and greeted by one of the owners Peter and General Mgr Kyle to the moment we left we had nothing but a simply wonderful relaxing time.
Service is extraordinary. From Teddy at the beach bar to one of the waiters, Kyle Carter, to the ever cheerful and highly attentative Stretch, love that name. I have only named a few but they were all incredibly knowledgable, polite and helpful.
I have read a few past reviews that were not too complimentary of the food. I don't know where these people are accustomed to eating as it was nothing short of excellent. We had the fresh catch of the day most day's, large portions cooked to perfection.Breakfast and lunch equally good with a large variety of dishes on the menu.
It boasts one of the best beaches in Jamaica, it is beautiful. All the pictures online and in the brochures are exactly what you get.
If you enjoy an upscale small boutique type resort with not much going on apart from beautiful rooms, excellent food and service and a wonderful beach and gardens to enjoy, this is the palce for you!
We will definately be returning
