“Closed until Season 2011 :(”
Reviewed October 30, 2011

We took the Knutsford Express bus from Kingston, and they had to use Chalk Hill route to bypass Fern Gully. There was a huge sign in Ocho Rios advising that Fern Gully was Closed - you could not even take a tour of the site. Hope to see it when repairs and improvements are completed.

“the driver said to proper response is yesman”
Reviewed July 4, 2011

we walked about 4-5 blocks through the carnival barkers found this guy standing on a back street in the shade. He took 3 of us for 10. bucks apiece in a 10 year old Camery. rode up to the road block at the beginning of Fern Gulley, couple of cops setting in the shade drinkning beer (probably the best thing to do in the situation). we got out talked to a few of the barkers and strolled about 5 curves up the Gulley. The driver showed us some fern that changes with the light and movement very cool and talked about rideing up the gulley as a child when his father would have to put the lights on in day light because of the darkness. He pointed out various sorts of trees and vines there as a power line running up the side of the gulley looked to be just laid on the ground. we rode aound another couple of hrs to some overlooks and the beach driver was cool take all the time you want and we said yesman, Got some jerk chicken at this joint called Mamas also very cool and some Romeo & Julliets to smoke like fat cats all and all not to shabby . The people are broke and living rough hungry for what small amounts we give them they probably are more polite then i would be in the same situation

“Fern Gully, disappointing”
Reviewed January 8, 2011

The way the tour description was written, it sounded like we would be going through and actually seeing the ferns and other plant life. I anticipated getting out of the van at some point to take pictures. Instead all we did was drive up the highway, turn around and come back. Yes, it was pretty, but not at all what I was expecting nor was it worth the money we paid for that portion of the tour.

The rest of our trip was much more interesting with a decent length visit to Shaw Park Gardens and then on to Dunns River Falls. Both of these places were worth the time and money spent to see them.
