Like the title suggests, the people are very friendly. However, they can be slightly "assertive" when trying to make a deal. We went to a smaller market venue to do the shopping, which was nice because it wasnt full with tourists. We had a hard time refusing some of the store owners because they were friendly but we found some great items at reasonable prices. They will negotiate on the prices but be reasonable with your offers; you don't want to insult them and they are trying to make a living.
All the little huts have similar items so dont buy the first things you see. If you walk around and check out the other stores, you can haggle better with the shop owners.
