“Excellent resort for Families.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2014

We had an amazing week with our two kids 2 and 5 years during the last week of March. The staff go above and beyond to speak with you and help where possible. From providing fresh fruit for a nightly snack for the kids, to sharing a recipe for one of their amazing dishes. Food is OUTSTANDING. Have been to Dominican 5 times and Cuba 7 times and will not go anywhere else but Jamaica going forward. The Beach Party on Tuesday night is amazing as is Saturday Night's Gala Dinner. But no matter what you can't beat the main restaurant at Oasis.

Having access to the Sunset Resort is amazing as well. Every day was a different experience. The beaches, multiple pools, amazing restaurants. We were not disappointed. The trip was even better because the kids wanted to go to the daycare in the afternoon to take refuge from the heat and see their friends. Allowed us to do some real relaxing.

We will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone looking for a resort that is kid friendly.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the east side. It was quiet, facing the large garden so kids could run free in the backya...

I recently travelled with three other women to the Oasis from March 21 to March 24. With a rough check in and room issues we ended our vacation in the love with the Oasis and definitely returning at some point.

Pros:
The employees at the Oasis are some of the best I have ever experienced. Nadine Bowen went out of her way to make us happy for our short stay. She was pleasant and very apologetic for the issues we encountered.
The food was excellent, our favourite place to dine was The Terrace. The staff were as impressive as the food. Andrew, Jolaine, Denisha and fabulous Paul. Chef Conrad does a wonderful job as well. They all made our vacation special and memorable with their excellent service and hospitality. Ernest at the bar was fantastic as well, his magic tricks and personality kept us laughing. Owayne and Renae were wonderful at the front desk.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. The beachfront cabanas are well worth the upgrade if available. The view is breathtaking! The grounds are so well kept and the employees on the beach keep it spotless.

Cons:
Upon arrival we were told we would not be getting the rooms that we had paid for. I have never paid to upgrade for a beachfront room, but we all decided to pay the extra for the cabanas. It was very disappointing at first but Nadine explained we would be moved to our cabanas on Saturday night. We were first given two rooms on the family side with the pirate ship and bunk beds. We were very unhappy because we were not travelling with children. After the issues with the first room we were given, Nadine quickly made it right by moving us to the east block of rooms.

We would definitely recommend this resort to others and we will return in the future!

We stayed here Mar.22-29/14. Comfortable accomodations and excellent service. My friend went topless but we had to leave the "au naturale" beach because I wouldn't disrobe (we were told clothing was optional-not so) and a couple complained (but they complained about everybody). As for The Donkey, he was tied out in a bare field behind us with no shade or water. We bought a basin and took it water. The staff then moved The Donkey behind a fence so we couldn't see it - still with no shade or water that we know of. For shame Oasis. The food selection was limited at the Oasis but the buffet at Sunset made up for it. Howard who was raking the beach found our safe key and saved us $95. Thanx again Howard. We also met Howard the ceramic tiler who helped Vinston make (build) the beach at Oasis - excellent job men.

We usually stay at the Sandals or Beaches resorts, so we weren't too sure what expect of this hotel. Travelling with a group of friends rather than as a couple we chose this hotel. Initially we were booked into the main Sunset Beach, but a mix up with our booking (travel agent's fault not the hotel) meant there wasn't a room available for us, so we were upgraded to the quieter (and I say nicer) part of the resort to the Oasis.
I must say that it was fantastic. The food and choice of restaurants was good, the beach lovely and swimming facilities brilliant! Being at the oasis we had our own stocked fridge in our room, and our own exclusive restaurant, which was much quieter, especially as a breakfast alternative from the main busy buffet restaurant .
Although I travelled with friends, I am keen to bring my family here as the children will absolutely love it!
The only downside was the rubbish wi-fi connection (which is free to Oasis customers!).

This was our first trip to Jamaica and we went as a family. The staff at the Oasis at Sunset were all gems. We arrived 3 hours late but were greeted by our own transport to the hotel (Ward Transport) and had an awesome driver who gave us a little history as we drove to the hotel. Upon arrival we were greeting by several people and were given refreshing cool towels and a drink. We were setup in our room right away and when we discovered it was two queens with the bunk beds, we asked if they had a king with the bunk beds. They were quick to change us right away and bring us a safety deposit key. The kids enjoyed Club Mongoose and the pool! We mainly ate at the Buffet but there is an A la Carte that does not require reservations just off the lobby. They also fit us in one night into the Italian Restaurant that is at the Oasis with no fuss even though we missed the cutoff during the day. The buffet is in the sister hotel next door. There are restaurants there too but we didn't try them. The Oasis at Sunset has free wifi and is only a two story newer hotel, versus the sister hotel (Sunset Beach) is an older two tower and you have to pay for wifi. The staff was so awesome that my older son insisted on saying goodbye to all his favorite people before we left. This hotel is on a little peninsula and only 20 minutes from the airport.

Room Tip: The rooms on the West Wing are by the pool. Great when you have kids and the sound of the water run...

Our first trip to Jamaica, and this was the perfect choice. The staff was fabulous, from check-in to check-out. Meals were so delicious. This is part of the larger Sunset beach resort, but far different. You're on the other side of the complex, very quiet, have your own private beach, yet have access to everything at the larger resort. Definitely going back.

My wife and I have been to Cuba and the Dominican Republic a total of 13 times. Will we go back to either, never!

The The Oasis at Sunset was fabulous. It was our first trip to Jamaica; it will always be a memorable one.

No delay checking in and at screening at Hamilton Airport. Beats Pearson hands down. The CanJet flight was perfect, both ways.

The airport staff at Hamilton and Sangster Airports were great. My wife has mobility issues and was in a wheelchair. Not a problem what-so-ever. Assistance couldn't have been better.

The short private taxi ride to the resort was a very nice touch. No crammed tour bus. Check-in at the resort was quick and relaxing. On arrival we were welcomed with open arms by Nadine Bowen, the head concierge. This lady is absolutely amazing. I'm positive she never takes a day off and is always there ready to please the guests and make their stay an enjoyable experience. There was a hiccup getting our assigned cabana room on the beach. Nadine gave us a temporary room immediately, W115. She personally came and got us when our cabana room was ready, E106.

BTW - smoking is only permitted in designated areas. The rooms, restaurants, pools, bars are all non-smoking. You smoke and get caught, it's a fine. Other resorts could take lessons from this policy.

The entire staff at the OASIS are friendly, very helpful and above all aim to please. Always a smile and a hello and no language barrier. If you need something you will get it, almost immediately. Never the old come back tomorrow stall routine.

The food, the room, the resort, the grounds, the beach, the service, better than anything we have experienced in the past at a high volume resort. The OASIS at SUNSET did not seem like a high volume resort. It was so relaxing and quiet.

Yes, as noted in other reviews the bathrooms are small, but how much time do you spend in a bathroom. The rooms were clean, housekeeping staff do an excellent job and the beds are very comfortable. The room fridge is stocked daily.

If you enjoy eating your meals at a buffet, you'll have to go next door to the Sunset Beach side of the property. The OASIS does not have a buffet. It has a sit down, linen table cloth, menu driven, personal service, open air restaurant; the "Terrace". It takes a while to get your order but it is well worth it. Albert and his staff will take good care of you for sure. If you don't see exactly what you want from the many menu choices just ask.

There is 1 International a-la-carte on the OASIS side that serves dinner only, by reservation, but quite frankly we liked the Terrace so much we didn't really find a need to go to the a-la-carte more than once.

For those who like to have a midnight snack, the snack bar is open until 2 am. The menu has a plentiful variety. From bacon cheese burgers, cheese dogs to jerk chicken and jerk sausage, it's all very good. The french fries are fantastic.

The beach is great. The sand is raked frequently. The water is warm, calm, clear and green/blue. There are plenty of chairs and palapas but as with most resorts there are chair hordes who stake their claim at 7 am and don't come back for 4 hours. Word of advice, use plenty of sunscreen.

Will we go back. Most definitely.

Anne & Bob
Hamilton, ON.

Room Tip: Chose a Cabana room in the east block if you want quiet and direct access to the beach.
