Over all we had a great stay, I was nervous as the reviews before heading down were mixed. Do keep in mind this is NOT the Oasis chain of resorts and the title clearly shows. (I'd place The Oasis at Sunset a low 4star)

We had a beach front "Cabana" why its called a "Cabana" I have no idea since its just a standard room like the others but located yards from the beach with a beautiful view.

Food was great, however we only ate at the Sunset Buffet once and had mixed feelings on that. The other meals we ate at the private restaurant on the Oasis side which was always great however rather slow. A La Cartes were all good and easy to book, just call or stop by the front desk and they will sort it all out for you.
Services was excellent you can tell they are really trying to separate The Oasis and make it something special. There was still minor construction going on but nothing that was annoying. However I wish the new International restaurant was open while we were there as it looked like it was going to be great. I would like to see how it looks next year.
I would recommend doing the para-sailing as the views up there are amazing. The snorkeling is awesome as well since there is a small reef not far from the shore. If you have a family the west side may be best to stay at since it is close to the water park, but if you want a quite and relaxation stick to the East side.
One petty complaint would be nothing really extra done by the house keeper, like towel swans etc, not even a thank-you note for the what I thought was a generous tip each day.
If you are looking for night life on the resort there is none. That goes for both the Oasis and Sunset side. After the nightly entertainment (which was actually very good most nights) there is nothing going on. Most people seem to go off resort to party at places like Margaritaville which is to bad since there is a pub style bar with dance floor on the Sunset side but no one was ever there.
Over all great stay and I have recommended to others.

Room Tip: East side "cabana" 1st floor is by far the best rooms. Leaving a tip in your fridge gets y...

We stayed at the Oasis at Sunset for last week of January 2014.
It was a great experience right from check in. Roland greeted us when our Taxi arrived at the resort and quickly took care of our bags. He escorted us to the reception where we were treated to a beverage of our choice as we checked in. Roland escorted us to our room and helped us with our luggage. First impression when walking into the room was WOW they had the drapes already open and the view from our Beachfront Cabana was spectacular. Not a bad start to a vacation and great first impression.

The Oasis at Sunset resort shares the general grounds, pools & dining with the regular Sunset Beach Resort but more on that later.

There are great reasons why you should upgrade to the Oasis at Sunset it gives you access to a private beach , Bar and Gardens but the best part of the upgrade is the Finest Dining around at The Terrace Restaurant.

I can not say enough about the Terrace Restaurant and it's fine staff they treated us like family and the food quality at every meal was exceptional. I would like to thank Andrew Jones and Albert Jump who manage the restaurant for they appear to be the main reason for it's success. Now I don't want to take anything away from the kitchen staff and head Chefs as their presentation of the meals was 5 star caliber. All the servers at the Terrace went out of there way to make sure you were looked after just right. Manley & Carol both made me laugh on many occasions while providing great service. I'm sorry for not remembering every name but thanks to the entire staff it was fantastic.

We ventured around the entire Sunset grounds tried all the pools including the kids waterpark & slides and found they were all looked after and in good shape. The main resort is getting quite old and starting to look dated but the staff and ownership seem to be on it and are trying to keep it in good usable condition. This is by no means a 5 Star Resort but the Friendly hard working staff make it feel like it at times.

When you go you must try the Jerk Chicken at the Snack bar located in the main entertainment centre it was great.

On Saturday night they held a big buffet dinner party with entertainment it was a blast, the food was good and the party atmosphere was lively.

We also enjoyed the adults only pool with swim up bar on several occasions it was a great place to meet fellow travellers and relax & listen to the great music of Jamaica.

We did have a few issue:

Such as the Wifi never did work in our room, but I was able to log on at the bar and lobby so it wasn't a big deal to me, I was there to relax not to work. They assured me the problem is being worked on so future guests won't have the same issues. There is still construction going on in the Oasis sections but they were good at not interrupting the guests.

The Oasis at Sunset Resort is a true 4 star trying hard to be a 5

I could go on but , I would just like to say.

If you want a Great vacation at a reasonable price in Jamaica and don't need a 5 Star resort this is the one to stay at. up grade, up grade, up grade to THE OASIS at SUNSET Resort.

Thanks I will be back

Room Tip: Beach Front Cabanas are perfect if you like to walk out directly from your room to the Caribbean Sea...

We chose this resort after a lot of on line reviewing of dozens of resorts on several Caribbean islands. We were glad we chose the Oasis in Montego Bay. Everything was just perfect for us. The Oasis is a smaller complex, and newly renovated. It is connected to the Sunset Beach resort, which is a much bigger complex, and more oriented for the younger crowd and families with children. The Sunset therefore has a lot more activities during the day as well as in the evening, but it is also a much more crowded and louder complex. The nice thing was that the Oasis guests had full access to all the facilities and restaurants of the Sunset, but they could also chose to go to the quiet beach reserved for the Oasis guests only, or have a quiet meal at it's nice restaurant.

We had a nice oceanfront room with a good size balcony on the second floor, which we liked. The first floor rooms had walk-out patios straight to the beach, but not very private, with people walking right in front of your room. Our room was very recently redone, very spacious and nicely decorated. Also the bathroom was well appointed, and had plenty of water pressure and hot water. The maid service for making up the rooms and the cleaning was also very good.

The whole complex is well laid out, and very nicely designed and landscaped. The quality and service of the Oasis restaurant was also impeccable. Very relaxing!
But the most enjoyable of the whole experience was the staff, from the front desk to the wait staff and the cleaning crew. I won't mention any names, for fear of forgetting someone. Everybody was so friendly and ready to help, without being too obtrusive. All in all, a great experience!

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet during the evening, stay away from the rooms closest to the Sunset compl...

Loved this resort for families! We were a group that included 15 children, most of them very young. The water park family rooms were perfect with the bunk beds and close proximity to both the water park and the beach. Our children spent hours playing in the water park and had great fun snorkelling off the beach and playing in the sand. The food and entertainment was also good and the resort small enough that we didn't need to worry about the older children wandering around. The beds are only doubles so would recommend anyone travelling with children to get the rooms with bunk beds. We had 6 rooms for 23 people and were able to get 2 sets of interconnecting rooms. Would love to go back!

Room Tip: Get rooms with bunk beds for children

A group of us just recently stayed at the Oasis in the beach front cabana's. I would not take anything less on a return to the Oasis at Sunset. We stayed in building E which (thankfully) was away from the volley ball court, so it was very nice and more quiet. The hospitality from the resort staff is awesome, its clean, food is pretty good and entertainment is good too. Beach area is great and offers fabulous snorkeling. We didn't use the private Oasis beach (or the "private private" beach) as didn't seem as nice, (they are improving it) even though they did purposely put a server there for us, we much enjoyed the beach by our cabana.
The cabana's are a bit small, but for a couple its great and really, do you vacation in a hot spot to stay in your room?? Lol.
Being a return guest (stayed at the Sunset/towers) I did notice the entertainment was pretty much the same, still good though. They also have a special beach dinner for return guests as well and Its nice to be appreciated as a return guest.
They also have cab drivers that will take you to the hip strip or where you please available right at the resort as well for a reasonable price. They offer lots of excursions in which we did go to the Dolphin Cove and Dunns River. Very reasonably priced. I must add that our guide "Norman" and driver "Chris" were just fantastic! They enjoyed our group as much as we enjoyed having them! Too much fun is just right!! We did want to do the Dune Buggy's, but were a bit disappointed that they only could do a group of 4 per visit.
They also have various water sports and lots to do on the resort as well.
One note is if you plan on buying any alcohol, buy it at the Duty Free Shop at the Airport! Its cheaper :)
All in all, its a great resort and I highly recommend it. I'm sure we will return and are looking forward to the upgrades as well. :D
Oh yes, the beds are a bit hard and ask for extra pillows. They are small and hard too lol.

My family visited this hotel over the New Year's holiday. I completed the online check in and asked if the resort was fully open and never got a response. When we arrived we checked into the Sunset and I knew things at Oasis were still under construction. We paid extra to stay at Oasis then extra for the Ocean Front Cabana room but used everything at the Sunset because Oasis wasn't ready. I was very disappointed. Our Ocean Front Cabana room opened right onto the beach volleyball court which was used from 10am until sunset every day, so we weren't really able to use our patio. We requested to be moved to the other side and were told we had to wait two days. We waited and were just moved upstairs in the same building.

The staff at the Oasis was great. We were treated very well. Since the restaurant wasn't open they set up a little tent restaurant which was very good but service was very slow. This was not the staff's fault as they had to run across the entire resort to get the food from the main kitchen at Sunset. The food at the small restaurant was very good, and so was the New Years Eve buffet which featured grilled lobster tail.

Been to many resorts and never had the customer service like this place from the time we checked in with Nadine and Renee who made sure the trip was perfect. Anything you needed would be looked after, Travelled with my elderly mother and couldn't have chosen
a better spot for her. She was abit nervous coming but after being here she hadn't been so relaxed in all her life. The staff was amazing with us. From the alacart breakfast and lunches. Unlimited alacart dinners as well. Food at the Terrace exclusive Restaurant to the Oasis was unbeatable.
Alfred Jump and his Crew made sure everything was perfect. Beach front Cabana Rooms well worth it to be right on the beach.
If you want the perfect white sand beach this isn't it but it has great snorkeling at a huge reef.
My mom would have liked to have a coffee maker in the room. There was a kettle with instant coffee but I don't consider this a coffee maker. Lots of great improvements being done around the resort. Many improvements by the day. Meet some great people. Cant wait to come back again because of the Wonderful Staff. Would definetly be a 5 star in my rating if the beach was a little nicer and rooms (bathroom) a bit bigger

Room Tip: Beach Front Cabana -steps to the beach and ocean
