My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the whole experience. If your lucky enough to have Alecia as your tour guide you can't go wrong! She's such a special person, and she truly goes out of her way to make sure you enjoy yourself. The plantation itself is gorgeous. The only thing I'd add is more coffee/ honey tasting opportunities to go along with all the delicious fruit! It's a real opportunity to see what the real Jamaican lifestyle is like. Enjoy!

If you are tired of all the shopping and beaches this is a good place to start. We took this excursion from our cruise. We got to see how the living is on the island going to the plantation. The plantation had their on tour guide who was very knowledgeable about their crops. We had a real Jamaican meal which was very good too. I enjoyed the samples of banana, pineapple, and coffee that was offered. You can buy the coffee, shirts of the plantation, and postcards.

Nice place - but the talk was rather long winded!! Would be better to see how the coffee is produced, rather than an explanation.

My wife and I were in Jamaica celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We were staying at a fantastic resort and we were looking for a tour that would show us some of the real Jamaica. We were not disappointed. As Marg S said in her review we also had Alecia and Winston as our guides. We enjoyed all of the information and personal stories from Alecia. For me it helped me from focusing on the winding roads. We really enjoyed going through the local towns and seeing the community in their everyday activities. The plantation was great; Winston was very knowledgeable and articulate. My wife and I enjoyed every aspect of the tour. The views were fantastic from the plantation. The tour guides also made sure that if you wanted to stop along the way for photographs, they would stop the bus and let you take photos. One of the highlights was in fact being stuck in the school traffic and watching all of the kids getting on the transportation vans. It was indeed a unique experience. We really would have liked to have the opportunity to purchase some of the pineapple that we had sampled.

The lunch that the local workers prepared for us was very good.

We definitely recommend this tour and would consider doing it again in the following years that we visit Jamaica

We had a fantastic driver, Troy of JTL Tours, whose skills on the road were impeccable. The tour guide on the bus Alecia was very knowledgeable about local knowledge, and Jamaican history until she bored us ad nauseum for about half hour total on to-and-from trip, about how smart her son was, how smart she was, how all mothers and students wanted her to do their children's school work and on and on.

When we got there, Winston was also very knowledgeable, but bordered on being condescending and sarcastic. However he was very informative as to what berries, nuts, leaves, pineapple and other vegetation are good for you and what their medicinal benefits were.

The plantation is not what we had anticipated - it is new - only about 25-30 years old. We got to briefly see a row of coffee trees, pick one bean, have a 5 minute overview about how coffee is made, then got a tour of various pineapple plants, other trees and vegetation, taste about 4 varieties of pineapple, then we slowly went to the lunch site, got a brief overview of Mr. Sharpe, had a lovely lunch, then had the option of buying T Shirts or Blue Mountain coffee, not the coffee from this particular plantation.

There was no reference to the fact that this place had at one time been a plantation a few hundred years ago, no reference to the location of the owners' place, who the owners originally were, the workers' accommodations, how the plantation was cultivated at that time, what was grown, or any other information that I had anticipated would be of interest. There was no option to buy coffee or any other food products grown on this plantation.

The most interesting part of this tour was the traffic jam that we got into at a tiny one-street village by a school, and witnessed the most illegal overloading of schoolbuses with children. These school busses then roared by us with older school boys swinging from the doors!

So - if you want to learn about local horticulture, you will enjoy. If you think you are going to tour an old plantation with possibly an old plantation owner's home, or remnants, and learn of the history of that plantation, then you will be disappointed.
