“Beautiful landscapes”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

We purchased this excursion while on a cruise. The ride to the plantation allowed us the opportunity to actually see Jamaica. We drove for about an hour over the mountainous terrain on asphalt and dirt roads. Our local guide informed us of the local culture and history. We arrived and were offered bottled water and began the tour. Our group met the plantation owner while he was working in a nearby field. He was friendly and approachable. The grounds are beautiful and we took amazing pictures. We homeschool our child and this tour provided her with many examples of botany, ecology and farming techniques. She really liked getting to taste the different types of pineapples. The lunch provided was good and we didn't get sick (a plus). I'd like to mention how thankful the staff and owner were that we had chosen the tour. I've been to Jamaica 5 times before and did not received the same welcome. I would not hesitate to do this tour again.

“A tasty tour into the mountains”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

A wonderful trip into the mountains to a fruit plantation which lasts just over half a day (from Lucea). Winston was our tour guide and he was great!! Very entertaining with his unique style in jokes but so knowledgeable on the plantation and all that is grown there as well as being passionate about his country. Definitely the right person for this job.
The journey itself was very interesting and good to see a bit of Jamaica - the roads were rather bumpy and narrow as you get higher up but didn't feel dangerous at all. At the plantation you get to try lots of the produce grown there, all very delicious! Lunch is provided and was very tasty, you get to sit and look at the amazing views as you eat. A nice touch was the owner came and sat with the group during lunch to discuss any questions about his plantation. You must take a camera on this trip!!!

“A Study in Pineapples”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

The plantation isn't exactly in Montego Bay. LOL It is about an hour and half via windy narrow mountain roads full of blind curves. In fact, the best part of this tour was the trip from Montego Bay to Catadupa. It was a great cultural experience.

The plantation itself was very entertaining. Of course my favorite part was to taste all the different types of pineapples. It was neat. One of the most interesting parts was the fact that the tour guide was native Jamaican. Herbal medicine is a big part of their culture. Probably due to the expense of medical care, they learned lots of ways of treating different issues with local plant life. It was so interesting to hear how they use different parts of the plants such as the breadfruit.

“Although beautiful location...beware!”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

The plantation is beautiful. We tasted many different pineapples and learned of the history and plant life of the Croydon Plantation. We ate lunch on a scenic hill overlooking the plantation. We had to have security guards with us at all times due to the risk of being robbed or attacked. The buses had security escorts (equivalent to our national guard according to our bus driver) If his information had been given to us before boarding the bus we would not have went. The buses barreled through small villages quickly not even slowing down for children playing near the road. I'm thankful it was only my husband and myself. I would have been very upset if I had taken my children. I will not be returning.
