“Amazing Anniversary”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

What an experience! Beautiful property and staff to match!
We have been all over Montego Bay hotels , we have had a wide variety when choosing our stay, from 2 star hotels to 5!. I can say that Secrets Wild Orchid has won our vote. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and they personalized our visit with Champagne breakfast, even an aromatherapy bath with rose petals and champagne!. The staff was awesome from our beach bartender Keneisha , to Orlando our singing lunch server...to our wonderful dinner at Himitshu courtesy of our cook ROOSTER ( he is a must see!). Make no mistake it is a beautiful resort , and all the friendly staff from the Bell Men to the housekeepers made this trip one we will NEVER forget..Thank you SECRETS we WILL be back!

Room Tip: everywhere in that hotel is beautiful, so don't worry to be fussy about your room!

When my wife and I got displaced from Secrets Wild Orchid and forced to go to Secrets Maroma Beach last year for our honeymoon due to Hurricane Sandy, we immediately knew we would try and get to Secrets Wild Orchid for our 1 year anniversary. It was the first time to Jamaica for the both of us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As soon as we stepped foot in the lobby, we were welcomed with open arms and of course, Red Stripe and Jamaican Rum. Our room was not ready yet, so the staff got us a drink and told us to walk around the resort and grab some lunch while Housekeeping finished getting our room ready. We did and before we knew it we were settled in and our week of rest and relaxation could begin.

We didn't spring for the Preferred Club because we had it for our honeymoon and we didn't really utilize the amenities so we decided we weren't going to blow the extra money on it again for this trip. We had a basic Junior Oceanview Suite in the main Secrets Wild Orchid building, Room 2226. I was a little disappointed when we got to our room and saw the "view" or lack thereof of the Ocean. Anything on the first, second, or third floors seemed to have an obstructed view of the Ocean due to all the palm trees. If you want a great view to wake up to every morning, these floors are not for you. I suggest trying to get on either floor 4 or 5 if view is important to you. For us, we were up and at the pool by 8 AM every morning and out and about at night so view wasn't that important to us.

The location of this resort has its good and its bad. Its good because the airport is extremely close to the resort and its nothing more than a 15 minute cab/bus ride in order to get to the resort. Its bad because if you are looking to get off the resort and do excursions in either Ocho Rios or Negril, its about an hour and a half to two hour ride to get to either of those places and that's where the majority of the excursion worth doing are located. We really wanted to do excursions but my wife and I weren't crazy about being on a bus for that long and luckily we were able to find a zipline excursion about a half an hour from our resort that was absolutely amazing.

The resort itself is absolutely incredible. The lobby and buildings are beautiful. The palm trees, parrots, wild cats and peacocks add to the incredibly exotic nature of this resort. Each resort has two pools a piece with one of the pools being strictly for the Preferred Club. We spent all of our time at the regular Secrets Wild Orchid pool and it was so much fun. There is a pool bar that opens at 10 AM every morning and you never have to get out of the pool to drink. We spent the most of our time in the other half of the pool which required a cocktail waitress in order to get a drink. This is where we met Kedeisha. We highly recommend looking for her because she will get you whatever you want and get it quickly. There were times that my wife and I hadn't even ordered anything and she just brought us another round of what we were previously drinking. If you get the honor of meeting her and having her as your waitress, be sure to take care of her because she will never let you go thirsty.

Get to know the Secrets pool staff because they made everyday and every night so much fun. You will NOT forget their names because the majority of them don't use their actual names rather funny names that you cant forget. For those who use their real names, you wont forget their names because they are amazing people. There was Bon Jovi, Fresh Prince, Happy Feet, Cornflakes, Sparks, Cassie and Bruce just to name a few.

Don't kill yourself over what restaurant to choose for dinner every night because every single one was amazing. We highly recommend doing the Hibachi one night (reservations are required) as well as Blue Mountain, the Caribbean themed restaurant. The majority of the restaurants have outdoor seating and it may seem like a bad idea to sit outside eating in Jamaica when the temperatures are high and the humidity may be up, but some of the restaurants provide immaculate views of sunsets as well as a view of the outdoor stage that has shows mostly every night. We went for 8 nights and we made sure we ate at each restaurant at least once.

I have filled you in with the good, but unfortunately our trip has a very unfortunate ending. This review would've gotten an Excellent if it wasn't for what happened on our final night there. During our last day there, while we sat out and enjoyed the pool and company for the day, someone at the resort decided that they deserved the money that was in our safe more than we did. We had to contact security and fill out paperwork documenting the incident and rather than coming home with money, we unfortunately did not. I would highly recommend to double check your safes each time you leave to remember exactly what was in there and double check whenever you come back to the room to make sure all of that same stuff is still there. It may seem a bit obsessive but trust us, you do not want what happened to us, to happen to you.

Two final things... Approximately 12:30 PM EVERYDAY... Jamaican Jerk Chicken cart makes its way to the pools. MUST EAT!!! We had it everyday and actually were able to come home with the recipe for the Jerk Sauce. Cant wait to try it out! Also, it may seem a bit unordinary, but occasionally they have Hermit Crab Racing... MUST SEE!

Room Tip: Rooms on the fourth and fifth floors have better views of the pool and ocean. Preferred Club rooms...

Can highly recommend this hotel. The service was so welcoming. The rooms were beautiful. Pool quiet (club pool) beach/sea picturesque, and best of all the food. For an all inclusive the service was outstanding, you were really encouraged to indulge which is so nice. Staff made us laugh everyday! Did do much outside of resort as it was too good to leave but hotel is a great distance from airport (10mins). Would recommend upgrading to club rooms as pool is very quiet, view is much better, check in much quicker.

Greeted by a very friendly and professional staff. Our concierge Omar was very attentive! The restaurant staff and baristas services were awesome and always with a smile. The staff did not make you feel as though you owed them a tip, YOU wanted to tip because of their excellent service! Be sure to tour with Esan!! She was amazing and made the tour enjoyable. Very protective of her customers and made sure we weren't harassed by overzealous locals. Finally, our AMResorts sales representative Latoya was professional and cared, no pressure! Big shout out to Latoya for a job well done!! We're now members! YEAH MON!!
Best - The staff, the comfort of our room, the food and well kept grounds. We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment and picturesque views on the resort!
Least - Though the rooms were well kept, touch-up paint around the shower stall and deep cleaning around the toilet would perfect the room!.

We had a fantastic trip, the hotel is very nice and clean. The rooms preferred club were just beautiful, loved the shower, and the spa tube in the room.
The fridge was stocked with water, beer and soft drink. We also had a full bottle of 3 different spirits
I am an early bird, so I wake up at 6.00am, it is impossible to find a good up of coffee in the resort so early in the morning, the baby coffee machine in the room, just doesn't cut it. So, the day I left they told me I could have ordered room service. which is 24/7. I know for next time, and now so do you!
Had very good breakfast, you name it they had it, including Bloody Mary or mimosas.
We were there in Sept. so it was off season, we had the beach more or less to ourselves. It was very quiet, but that is exactly what we wanted.
The preferred club has a help yourself bar with premium alcohol and nice wines. There was always something very nice to nibble on as well.
We did take a taxi to the resort 20 min, which cost us 35 dollars one way. The driver had us write in his book our name and time/date we were to be picked up, to return us to the airport. Others I spoke to said the bus was 20 minutes, and a little cheaper.
The people were very nice, drinks in the bar were great, they will make you what ever you want.
I tried the spa, very nice, but it was the same price as you would pay in the US.
They gym was very nice and clean.
All the places to eat are very good. The best meal with entertainment was the Japanese the chef there had the table laughing, singing and a lot of fun. The waitress there was also awesome. She was the best. She totally took great care of us.
Overall great trip

Room Tip: I didn't see the other rooms, so I cant judge how they are, but I was very satisfied with the Pr...

My husband and I stayed at this resort for 7 days during our honeymoon and it was impressive! The food, customer service, and setting were all wonderful!

The nightly activities are fun and charming without being too corny (check out the piano bar!) and the restaurants were all above par besides El Patio (mexican, just skip it). Staff members from each part of the hotel were amazing from the maid service to the spa to the pool waiters.

We opted for the romantic candlelit dinner and our waiter (I am so sorry I can't remember your name!) was wonderful!

Contrary to what some people have said, the staff does not walk around with their hands out for tips! We tipped some staff and not others, only those who we felt went "above and beyond" what is expected for customer service in a 5-star resort but there were a lot that did!

Would highly recommend and cannot wait to go back!

Room Tip: Not a big difference between "regular" and "preferred" status at this resort but...

We loved the Secrets Wild Orchid! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Sheronie at the front desk of the preferred side was always a smiling and helpful face as were the other girls that worked down there. Joseph was always over the top friendly, funny and his enthusiasm was exceptional. Oshane was our server at our candlelight dinner and he was so kind and professional. Tanesha was our server on the beach and she was prompt, kind and exceeded our expectations in getting our drinks. The candlelight dinner was beautiful and well worth it. The entire experience really was amazingly fun and relaxing. There were so many details that made it such a great vacation. We even came home from dinner one night to a bubble bath full of rose petals! The food quality and variety also exceeded our expectations. We loved Jamaica!
