We recently visited Secrets Wild Orchid for our honeymoon. It was fabulous. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we had excellent service. Hopeton, the bellhop was amazing. He was more than helpful and went above and beyond to make our trip perfect. I highly reccomend this resort

Our team of 20 just returned from a long weekend at Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay, Jamaica. What a great trip and a fantastic resort.

Everything about it was first class with one exception (no free WIFI).

It's only 15 minutes from the airport, basically just around a bay to the end of a peninsula.

The resort is new (built about 2009). The rooms are spectacular, and we didn't even stay in the building with the suites.

We came in multiple planes (just in case), so our arrivals were staggered. Some took cabs and depending on their negotiating skill (or naivety), paid between $25 to $50 for a short ride to the resort. For the best rate, call Leroy "Tallpiece" Atkinson at 876-438-8481. He showed up as promised and only charge $25. Say Frank sent you.

When we arrived, the hotel staff kept our bags outside so we didn't clutter the lobby with them. Then then delivered them promptly to our rooms. They let us check in a bit early too. The rooms were spacious, with quality furniture and a well planned layout. Lots of room for luggage too. I was in an inside corner, but still had a good view of the pool right outside with the sea just beyond.

One nice thing for an all inclusive resort like this is that we didn't need wristbands. Everything was included 24/7. Even room service anytime you want. As an organizer, I had a fruit tray and bottle of champagne on ice waiting for me.

We hung around the pool much of the afternoon, then went out to one of the half dozen fine restaurants that evening, followed by drinks at the Piano Bar. We gambled at their mini-casino (more like micro-casino with a couple of dozen slot machines). I won early and quit with my winnings.

The second day, after a buffet breakfast (with lots of choices and 4 chefs cooking eggs and pancakes), we found a quiet area to fit in a business meeting while waiting for the rest of the gang to arrive. The rest of day 2 was a clone of day one with 14 more arrivals vs. the 6 of day one). We just ate in the main restaurant. Fast, friendly service with nobody pushing for tips (but happy to get them). Note, people like the doorman make less than $2 US / hour as their salary, so even small tips matter.

For the next two days, we hung around the pool, went sailing, played shuffleboard, bocce and horseshoes and drank a lot. A few of our gang had a bit too much, but all in good fun. We went out to the Italian restaurant Portofino, then the superb Japanese restaurant (best of them all).

We booked most of the seats on a Catamaran cruise and really enjoyed that, although it was only truly sailing (with wind, not power) for about 5 minutes. We couldn't visit Marguaritaville because it was damaged from Hurricane Sandy the week before and not yet repaired. We toured some gorgeous homes right on the bay with surprisingly inexpensive prices (under $1M for what would be many times that in Florida or elsewhere).

Checkout was painless and fast. No surprises either. They overcharge for local calls but that's normal for hotels. Once again, the only disappointing thing was the lack of free WIFI. They wanted 50-cents/minute at the business centre (even for printing boarding passes) and $15/day for usage. We just ended up sharing a few codes among us. In today's technology era, having access is an assumed service. It would cost them nothing and be a nice touch to add for their guests.

Overall, we loved the resort and would highly recommend it to others. We also go back, though there are so many other islands to visit so we'd likely go back individually rather than as a group - just for variety.

Room Tip: My room was fine on the inside of the "U" over the pool. Nobody had any complaints in our...

Overall, we were very pleased with this destination. Beautiful beaches, lively pools, lots of activities, a variety of restaurants and very friendly staff.

However, if you are looking for restful sleep this might not be the place for you. Four very loud wedding receptions occurred during our week-long stay each with speakers pointed directly at guest rooms, versus out to sea. Stupid. Upon complaint, staff did attempt to make concessions but the bottom line is that this is a loud place. Though, if you're planning on staying out late each night of your trip I doubt you will be bothered too much by this.

The rooms were well appointed with great views and the bed was amazingly comfortable.

The variety of restaurants was great, the food itself was hit and miss. Although it was great to find an all-inclusive that had zero limitations on food and beverage. We had top shelf liquor and lots of it--not sure of those reviewers who said they were served weak drinks as we found that completely false.

Be sure to also try the jerk chicken cart out on the promenade by the pool. Delicious!

Speaking of the pool, people get out to the pools and cabanas EARLY and reserve lounge chairs with towels and belongings so beware. One day we waited until the afternoon to hit the beach and by then, no umbrellas were available and Jamaican sun is scorching!

The spa was lovely. Very relaxing--massage and the hydrotherapy circuit both highly recommended.

One last note, while the facilities and accommodations are beautiful at first glance, the discerning eye will notice many imperfections not in line with the upscale atmosphere Secrets is trying to convey and many expect. Hard water stains and shower head buildup in the shower, mildew growing in the closet, fingerprints on the doors and other surfaces, food spattered on the walls of some of the restaurants, stagnant/stale water in the Spa hot tub, things like that. Perhaps it's a cultural difference but the staff seems to have a lack of attention to detail.

The bliss began at check in (preferred club) where we met our concierge Shydonnie. She made our initial contact with the resort pure bliss and a pleasure. Her competency, warm welcome, and upbeat, friendly personality made us feel welcomed and special the second we met her.

We stayed in the preferred club area as we generally do when traveling to these sorts of resorts. We find the preferred area of the resort less populated and more conducive to romance.

We truly enjoy the preferred lounge. The staff continuously replenishes the snacks, tidies the area, welcomes and encourages you to take part of the abundance spread of food and drink. The lounge decor (indoor and out) has a sleek modern look with tints of warmth and comfort. And just outside of the lounge are 2 computers that can be used 24 hours a day.

To access the pool, beach, and hot tub area you simply exit the preferred lounge area and walk across a small wooden bridge which covers a cute little fish pond. A few steps away is the pool area. There are 2 pools-one is heated to the optimal temperature and the 2nd pool seems to be kept a bit cooler which is great to jump into when the suns' heat gets to be a bit too much. There are plenty of beach loungers, towels, and the bar service is very attentive.

Just a few steps from the pool is the beach with it's plush white sand. The sand continues into the waters. As you walk out into the sea the plush sand is still under your feet. There are no rocks, pebbles or debris in the water. As with the pool area there are plenty of loungers and the bar service is attentive.

The hot tub is just steps away from the beach. The hot tub was a bit too large for me. You could host a small wedding in that hot tub...I wish we were able to find a more intimate hot tub. However I must say we went to the hot tub everyday and mostly had the tub to ourselves.

We stayed in a Jr. Suite on the 3rd floor. The room is modern and well kept. The bed was beyond comfortable with ample pillows. There is a large soaking tub on the terrace with an awesome view of the sea and mountains...this is how I began each day. The shower, double sink, toilet room were high quality highlighted with beautiful marble. The jacuzzi was a perfect way to relax before dinner and again, as you enjoy the jacuzzi you can see the mountains and sea.

My thoughts on the restaurants-The Bordeaux is their French restaurant and it good but it was the service that made it a great experience.

Blue mountain is the Jamaican restaurant. We've never experienced much in Jamaican culinary foods besides meat patties and americanized jerk chicken. I'm happy to post that from appetizer to desert it was delicious with excellent service.

El Patio which is their mexican restaurant was very tasty although it has a very small menu and like the other restaurants the service could not have been beat.

Portofino the Italian restaurant was a culinary disaster. The best I can describe it as its similar to an 8th grade cooking class. I would urge you skip Potifino and I would urge management to revisit and restructure Portofino. All that being said the service was beyond reproach.

We were disappointed that we could get into Himhisu. This is the only restaurant where a reservation is needed. We knew this and was told to make a reservation but we didn't realize we needed to do it days in advance. When we called the night of our last day we weren't able to get a reservation....so it's more our fault than a flaw in the resorts system. So please book the day of arrival.

The theater-the house band was very good and we enjoyed them very much. However we can't comment on the other acts since we didn't see the other acts in the theater. The theater had great comfortable seats, a fantastic sound system and prompt bar service.

All in all I have to say we were very pleased with this resort. We've stayed at several Dreams resorts and Couples and out of all the resorts this has been our favorite. So much so that I am in the process of booking our return stay in June for our wedding anniversary.....hopefully Shydonna will be there again to greet us begin another great stay.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Secrets Wild Orchid resort and had an amazing time. We would have no hesitations in returning to or recommending this resort to anyone.

The resort is about 20 minutes from Montego Bay which is great after a long flight. The resort is relatively large and spread out so it never feels crowded. The staff there were brilliant, couldn't be more helpful in anything that we needed, always very polite and happy. We were also at the resort when Hurricane Sandy hit Jamaica, I cannot emphasize enough how well the situation was managed by the Senior Management Team at the resort and all of the staff.
The resort is one of the best all-inclusive resorts I've stayed at yet. They had a wide choice of restaurants for dinner including Italian, French, Mexican, Jamaican, Japanese and seafood all of which had very good food and all included. In addition the themed nights such as Surf & Turf night were just delicious. Breakfast was really well catered with an amazing choice of food from simple fruit, cereals and pastries right through to freshly cooked omelettes, pancakes. Lunch options are really varied and again delicious. On top of all of this, we cannot forget the Jerk Chicken Trolley, wandering around the resort and beach with his famous Jerk Chicken and special sauce, a must-have!! I could talk about the food there all day so suffice to say that it was great quality, varied and delicious. Make sure you try the many cocktails that the bars all offer as well - I can highly recommend the Bob Marley and the Dirty Banana. by the way, all-inclusive is all-inclusive, it includes room service which is just a great touch.

The rooms are really well-equipped and spacious. The bed and pillows were really comfortable, loads of tv channels, mini-bar that is refreshed every day. We loved the rainfall shower and the jacuzzi bath, a great way to relax after a hard day on the beach!

If you wanted to go out of the resort, they have plenty of trips and excursions that are really well organised, we did the Dunns River Falls, Dolphin Cove, Canopy Ziplining and the Luminous Lagoon - all of which I'd happily do again. Alternatively you can hire a taxi from the resort to take you into the centre of Montego Bay for a wander. In addition, the resorts entertainment team have all kinds of activities organised that will keep you more than busy - Jerk cooking classes, basket/hat weaving, bike rides into Montego Bay, plenty of games. Also the evening entertainment is really good fun and relaxing, there is a great vibe at the Piano bar, think cocktails and everyone singing - really good fun.

Although a relatively new resort, there are some tiny little things that could be improved. Some of the fixtures and fittings were not 100% perfect, however I must be clear that there was nothing that had a negative impact on our holiday and did not bother me at all.
All in all, a fantastic place and I am looking forward to going back or to try another Secrets Resort.

We just returned from Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay Jamacia, the BEST yet! They greet you with a cold cloth to refresh yourself, just what I needed. The little touches they have make it so nice, bottled water on ice in barrels on the paths at the beach. The rooms are clean and bright with a view of the ocean. Calm blue waters, Jerk Chicken carts on the path in front of the beach for a quick bite, tastes great I had it everyday! The food was fantastic! I don't usually eat much at all inclusive's because the I'm a very picky eater but Executive Chef Jack Shapansky literally changed the way I eat! I tried almost everything on the menu, except the seafood, I don't eat fish so they don't eat we when I go swimming! My husband and friends loved the seafood! The staff was so helpful and friendly, Omar was always there with a smile and ready to help, Andrew kept the liquid sunshine flowing, they even had Grey Goose Vodka, I couldn't ask for more! If you don't try out this resort you will be missing the best place, and nicest people, Jack might even give you the recipe for the Jerk Chicken! Loved the resort! Would definitely go back again and again.

Room Tip: Room 2452 had a very good view of the ocean and wedding gazebo. The junior suite is very roomy
