We had a great time. Our "Captain" # 40 was a great guide. He even stopped by the bank so I could use the loo. That was a task and a half....lol. The trip takes approximately 1 hour. At various stages down the river we had people trying to sell t- shirts, beer, water for your Captain and other tat. A firm no thank you and your on your way. Don't forget to tip the Captain.

Extremely relaxing, the person who controls the raft is also the person who builds the raft. Each person creates their own raft and maintains it. They are knowledgeable of the entire area around them.

“Total relaxation mon”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

Very scenic and tropical. Beautiful water and serene landscaping. The guide will tell you all about the history of the river and information on native plants/fruits/animals etc. It cost $66 american which i felt was a fair price as this included transportation. Total time down the river 1hour 20 minutes. Definately check out if you want something relaxing to do on your trip :-)

“Quiet, enjoyable raft trip”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

This was a great couples activity! Went as part of a cruise group, and got the feeling that this is a developing attraction. Enjoyed free juice while looking around the grounds (you'll pay for alcohol), then boarded a bamboo raft with our captain for a look at the Jamaican countryside. No white water here, just tranquility. A nice alternative if you've already done the falls. It was about an hour's drive from the port, but worth it.

“Most relaxing thing to do in Jamaica”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

This is the second time we have taken the Marth Brae trip down the river and we will do it everything we go back. The guide and driver of the bamboo raft was very friendly and informative. You just sit there with your drinks which you buy at the refreshment area and take down the river with you. You dont get wet unless you splash your self, so you dont need a swim suit for this trip unless you want to wear it. When you arrive there you get a free drink of rum punch and a few minutes to shop at three different stands. They are not real pushy and will deal. I likes this the best for shopping. The man with the pole guiding the raft never tried to sell anything and would not stop at the stands along the river unless you asked him too. Tell the driver to go slow. If you dont some of them hurry to get back up and get more guest to get more money. Best to go around 9 from the motel. Later they get busy.
