“Good ol' cooking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

Very near the airport, Scotchies is not much more than a sturdy shed with a hot fire. My wife wasn't impressed with the cooking, but I appreciated the chicken sausage, pork sausage and chicken. We also had the fish and of course Red Stripe. This no-frills establishment met our goal of a quick, good meal at a reasonable price.

“Kick back, grab a Red Stripe (or two) and be patient ... try the chicken sausage”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

The ultimate in casual dining that fits in perfectly with island fever. We've been going to Scotchies for years and compared to the many overpriced eateries here, this is a great time, a great value and great food. Don't expect fast service though, especially if you hit busy times like weekend lunch or dinner. Just grab a Red Strip or two and chill.

My recommendations try the Jerk FISH and Chicken sausage ... they are the best things on te menu. I'm also a fan of sweat potatoes ... oh and don't forget the hot sauce. Enjoy.

“Delish!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

Our cab driver recommended Scotchies when we asked for Jerk Chicken, and it didn't disappoint. One thing you have to learn in Jamaica is to let go of your worries about germs! When you see chicken that is sitting on logs, covered with a piece of tin sheeting, you might wonder "how DO they keep that clean?"... LOL. Just eat it, and the first bite will have you forgetting about all that stuff, and enjoying the food and the atmosphere. I enjoyed the pork more than the chicken, but both were fabulous.

“Worth is but depends on the location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

I love jerk chicken and you should too! It is a must to try if you visit Jamaica. I tasted chicken at the Kingston and ocho rios (near discovery bay) locations.

They service is Extremely slow. The chicken was the best in Ocho Rios. Make sure to get some festival and try the conch soup. I think the guys on the road side selling pan chicken are better.
But the decor at Scothies allows for family seating, parties or even just date night. Try it and let me know how you like it!

“Just what we were looking for”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

After fairly unimpressive jerk chicken at the resort where we were staying (Half Moon), we took a trip to Scotchies, and it didn't disappoint! Very low key atmosphere, cheap food, and authentic feel. We were warned the jerk there was extremely spicy, but none of us thought so. The green sauce definitely has kick, so use with caution, but if you just eat the chicken straight up, it's not very spicy at all. The flavor, however, is excellent. The sides I had were pretty basic (typically over-cooked corn and rice n' peas) and nothing to write home about, but I wasn't expecting much anyway. We ate at the bar and enjoyed the place immensely. The kegs converted to stools fit right in as well. (Grab some good cappuccino coconut ice cream at the shop next door for dessert...)
