“Gets my vote for best beach in Jamaica!”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

Despite the fact that you have to pay a $6 entry fee and $6 each to rent a chair and umbrellas, I do prefer this beach over the beaches in Negril. The $6 entry free gives you access to showers, restrooms and changing areas and there is a restaurant that will bring food and drinks to you on the beach (the mango smoothie is superb!)

The water at this beach has cascading shades of turquoise and dark blue and is typically very calm. From your view on the sand, you can also see the Jamaican hills near by which offer a picturesque scene. Top this off with a healthy mix of locals who frequent the beach and no beach service operators trying to sell you jet ski rides, parasailing, boat rides or hawking their wares of Jamaican clothes and jewelry, makes this beach much more peaceful and fun to hang out.

“Be prepared to be harassed.”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

Just walking from the bus on the street that was parked in front of the entrance to the beach, our path was blocked with people trying to sell us reggae cd’s, bracelets or just trying to get us into their stores.. After spending $40 to get to the beach, $20 to get on the beach, and then another $20 for two chairs and umbrella for my wife and I, the local drug dealer, hair braider, bracelet and sea shell merchant ran their sales pitches not once, not twice, but three times after trying to be nice an politely saying no…

When my wife and I decided to go snorkeling, we did not feel safe at all with leaving our bag with our camera in. We were constantly on guard because of all of the “sales” people on the beach. Three months later, we took our kids on the same cruise. We didn’t get off the boat in Jamaica with them. It's such a shame too. It's a pretty beach and place..

“Expected more”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

Beautiful beach but was limited to enclosed space. Aside from leaving the beach & walking the street, not a lot of exploring and wandering. Effort to keep street vendors away but weren't too successful & was consistently bothered.
