A taxi drove us to the “secret side” of town near the Secrets Resort for our dinner destination. The Houseboat Grill is on a quiet bay inlet. The restaurant is actually on a boat about 20 feet out in the water. The boat was stable but I could feel a very gentle rocking. We rode a raft to get out to it - pretty cool!. We were seated up on the second floor where we could watch the sky change color. The food was good. I had grilled calamari as an appetizer and mahi-mahi for the main course. My girlfriend had a salad and the chicken. Everything was ok (the chicken was the best), but pretty boring. The food was trying too hard be upscale, but without real backing. I was surprised that there was very little attention to typical Jamaican flavors (the chef, instead seemed to be running in the opposite direction). I'd bet at least one entree could be created that would be a tweaked version that gives a nod to a local dish. The desserts, however, were great! The chocolate souffle and banana cake were excellent. What made the restaurant, however, was the ambience. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the water as we ate on a boat. The experience was pretty spectacular. The feel of the restaurant made this evening perfect capper to a great trip.

Loved this place, great location, cheap compared to what others have said.As you eat your meal, you can feel the cool breeze coming from the water as the waves rocking the resturant. The food is amazing and definitely something different as they push you across to water to be seated.

First you have to get there in a small floating platform, the place ambance is very romantic, service is good and food is excellent.
You can eat inside or on top of the boat under the stars

Our last meal in Montego Bay came at a suggestion from our driver, Chris. He hadn't steered us wrong all vacation so we let him book us reservations on Easter Sunday. We were surprised to see that it really was a houseboat located across the bay from where we were staying. The landlubber in our group had the beef tenderloin and she said that it was the best meal that she had had out during our vacation. The rest of us ordered the shrimp and were equally impressed with the taste as well as the side dishes. Our waiter suggested the baked chocolate dessert and we all splurged since it was our last night. It was worth every calorie. Compared to some of the places that we had eaten I thought the prices were in line with the quality of the food.

The food here is wonderful. Prices are a little high end . Staff very nice. The atmosphere is fantastic. The lobster is the best in town.
