“Excellent service and beautiful rooms - a bit expensive”
Reviewed May 12, 2010

I stayed at this hotel around the end of April for two days and then back again for a night before my departure from lovely Jamaica.
At first, I was surprised to find out that hotels in Kingston are generally more expensive than comparable cities in the islands. I heard about the Spanish Court and wanted to stay there. When I called whoever answered the phone was not that friendly so I called the other hotels instead. My friend made reservations on line at Courtleigh and once I stepped in the lobby of the Courtleigh and met by the staff I knew this hotel, though expensive, was more or less deserving the money they are asking for. I especially say that because it appeared that they had some convention at the time, and that, in general. as far as I know would jack up the room price.
The rooms were extremely clean, comfortable and coffee and toiletries were in abundant. The room I had was facing the Hilton next door. That created a noise problem for the evening period more specifically until the party at that place ended,
That may be a problem for some if your room are facing the Hilton and its swimming pool. On the other hand, this same room gave me one of the greatest and memorable view of Kingston - the hills, the stadium, the new skyscrapers, etc...
The Asylum(?) club was not what I expected it to be. If you need a place to dance and listen to live music you may need to go somewhere else.

Perfectly fine business hotel, a bit worn around the edges.

Located on a busy street so there's lots of traffic noise. Breakfast buffet was nice. STaff was friendly. The fitness center needs new equipment.

I'd tried the Pegasus on my last visit and was not particularly impressed so I gave the Courtleigh a try this time. I stayed twice - on my way into Jamaica and again on my way out. For my second visit I was upgraded to a Junior Suite foc !! Good efficient reception, clean spacious rooms, excellent WIFI connection, great pool bar with excellent menu, good friendly staff and cold Red Stripe - what more could you ask for in Kingston.

I came to the Hotel through government agency work and got corresponding business rate which was considerably lower than what is available online (here and elsewhere). If I had to pay the normal price, rating would have bee lower.
It is clean, it offers a nice pool and poolbar, employees are friendly yet reservered.
Room was VERY large with two Queen Size beds and a nice flatscreen TV plus free internet in the room. Overall, I will come back here, especially as it is conveniently located. Room safety deposit box is a little small, a netbook might fit - otherwise only keys, passport and camera will be going in there. Coffee maker, hairdryer, fridge, all there for your convenience. Breakfast was very american, nothing fancy... DInner/snacks were ok, but not outstanding. Prices are moderate. Shiraz wine was good for below 4US$ a glas.

I stayed here for two night in december with my boyfriend who is Kingston born and bred, before going to Montego Bay.
Check in was nice and quick, staff were friendly and we got upgraded to a suite without asking! Bonus!
Room was nice with separate lounge area, King four poster bed and dressing area. Flat screen tv in the bedroom but not in the lounge but wasn't too bothered about this. Had a fridge and nice touches like candles. Toiletries in the bathroom were Bath & Body works and were gorgeous! Really nice touch! Decent shower and hot water. The room had patio door but no balcony and looked over the back of the hotel towards the neighbouring hotel but you could get a decent view of the area and its right near Emancipation Park.
Breakfast was buffet style and nice.
I chilled at the pool and had it to myself one morning! There is a tiki bar next to the pool and also a nice outdoor seating area which I think you can have breakfast at aswell if you don't want to be inside. There is also a disco/club at the hotel but I didn't go so can't comment!
On our last night we went out into Quad nightclub which is literally round the corner from the hotel and takes 2 minutes to walk. Really nice club on three levels with different music on each level. Upon leaving at about 4am we went to a soup stall on the street and had some Manish Water - spicy beef soup very nice at the end of a night out! Jamaican equivalent of getting a kebab on your way home!
The hotel is mainly used by business travellers I would say but its ideal location in middle of New Kingston is perfect for anyone.

Stayed at the Courtleigh for 2 nights in December 2009. Was in Jamaica for 3 weeks but visited Kingston as I was attending STING at Jamworld in Portmore.

Check in was swift and efficient and the staff are very friendly. For $185 USD a night the room was spacious and we had breakfast included in price. They have a strange lift (elevator) system whereby you use a card to activate it. Never used a lift like that in my life!! Also the water in the bathroom was the HOTTEST in Jamaica and possibly the world!!

You have places to eat nearby and nightlife eg:Asylum which is very popular.

If you wish to use a taxi service I would recommend "ON TIME TAXIS" They are so reliable and value for money. Paid $1200 JA to go to STING which is like £9.

Would def stay at the Courtleigh again.

The Courtleigh is a small, around 120 room, hotel situated in downtown Kingston. Placed in 'New Kingston' the hoel is ideally located for easy access to most government offices and major banks. Of the 3 hotels located in this area the Courtleigh is by far the most agreeable and best appointed. Rooms are well furnished and offer excellent views of the city and mountains, room service is fast and discrete. Wifi is provided and is fast and reliable. Pool and pool bar excellent. Restaurant worthy of particular note, quality of food is very high and the local dishes it features should not be missed. For the endless business traveler, like myself, this place is a real tonic
