Some rooms are being upgraded. Mine wasn't one of them 7-265. See photos. Everything worked but a bit tired. Couldn't close balcony door so noise of some outside reggae party wafted in. Breakfast was a bit grim...the hot entrees were scrambled egg, pork sausages, boiled yam, cabbage and fish. No bacon or tomatoes?
Strange electrical thing hanging out of toilet wall.
No late check-out so will be sitting around 4 hours in suit....

The hotel is well located for most of Kingston and right next to Emancipation Park. It is in a great location if you're there for business and the Bob Marley Museum and Devon House are a short cab ride away if you're there for pleasure.

Some of the rooms need upgrading, but the ones that are done are nice but they have lost their balconies. So we chose to stay in a room with a balcony that was in need of more than a little TLC, which meant I did think it was over priced for such a worn out room. However we loved the balcony, it was much better than being stuck in an air conditioned room all night and the views of Kingston are fabulous. We hope they don't get rid of all the balconies following the upgrade as the rooms are adequately sized anyway.

The staff are helpful and polite, the 24/7 cafe is great for coffee and always has a good selection of cakes. The pool area and bar is really good, very spacious and almost always empty. A great place to top up your tan if you get half an hour.

The restaurant is alright, but the choice is limited if you're staying more than a couple of nights.

Overall would stay again and recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies are in need of re-furb but it is nice to sit outside in the evenings with a gla...

Stayed here for 5 days, visiting family and friends in Kingston. Front desk staff are generally unfriendly and cater to flight crews and diplomats only. They offer no information that would be helpful during your stay. I had a problem connecting to wifi and the hotel operator connected me to IT support in India ??!!?? Dear, JA Pegasus, citizens returning home from the US, UK, Canada use the same currencies as flight crews and diplomats. Your hotel will go in the way of the hilton unless you open your eyes and improve your customer service!

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony.

Having stayed at this hotel for well over two weeks I must say it was a sincere pleasure.
The tennis courts and pool are top class and there is even a close circuit running track.
Anne Marie Gordon was a figure in a very warm and professional welcome to the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. She was able to quickly resolve any billing issues and made our stay very comfortable with that extra special touch. For all your business hotel needs in Kingston, the Jamaica Pegasus hotel is a fine place to stay with a very helpful staff and active management.

I stayed here overnight en route to a conference in Ocho Rios and thought it was the perfect locale for a business-related trip. Breakfast was plentiful and you have the option of eating it in a dining hall or a pleasant, sun-filled indoor/outdoor patio area. We also had access to a guest "lounge" area on the third floor, where we could have pretty much unlimited drinks/appetizers pre-dinner. My room lacked a balcony but did have a panoramic view of the (pretty) pool area, Kingston Harbor, and Emancipation Park. It was somewhat spare, but had obviously been recently (well) renovated: it had an iron/board, safe, empty fridge, huge shower and flat screen tv (with Canadian as well as U.S. channels - it's rare to see CityTv and CBC in the Caribbean). Some of my travel companions complained about WiFi issues, but I didn't utilize it. My only beef was with the elevators, that are: a) slow, and b) require you to swipe a card in to get to a guestroom floor - I had to reactivate my card twice to get it to work. I understand the hotel is being renovated, so I can only recommend you ask for a renovated room. Mine was on the 5th floor, as far away as possible from the elevators, and peacefully quiet.

Room Tip: 5th Floor, far away from the elevators

I saw some of the reviews and nearly passed on this place, however after staying a week I found it did need updating and the elevator noise is distracting at night but overall it suited my needs. Very clean, excellent dining and service and conveniently located in Kingston. Probably best suited for business travel. I didn't see any construction work going on but understand they are in the process of updating the rooms. Try and stay away from the elevators, they're really loud. One small complaint, they use those curled fluorescent light bulbs in the overhead, for some reason they flash occasionally even though they're turned off. I had to get up in the middle of the night and unscrew the one by the bed. Not sure if that's true in all rooms but was in mine.

Room Tip: Highest room away from the elevator! traffic noise will be a problem in any room.
