The shops were closed on Easter Monday when I went but looked interesting. The icecream is ok but if you stop be sure to visit the bakery. The offerings there are sinfully good.

We went to Devon House in February 2012 and was introduced to the history of George Stiebel who was Jamaica's first black millionaire. Our tour guide was a lovely lady called Norma who took the time to explain the history of Devon House and how it came about. She was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed our time there. We were able to take loads of photos inside of all the antiques etc.. and we have a photo of ourselves in the Ballroom doing a Waltz.. Interestingly, there is a false ceiling in the house as in the old days if the house was raided for example because of gambling, the staircase would go up and disappear into the ceiling. There was also a fainting couch for the ladies .

There are photos of the Stiebels along with their daughter and a framed photo detailing the earthquake of Port Royal in 1692. There was also a photo of 3 African Spanish Princes and it was strange to see them in the ruffled collar of the Spaniards with spears in their hands and what looks like bones through their ears. We saw photos of the Prime Minister Portia Simpson and the Jamaican Ambassador.

After the tour we went into the "I Scream", yes, not Ice Cream parlour and had the best ice cream ever! The cost of the ice cream is covered in the entry fee. Don't forget if you are visiting to go into the Devon House Bakery as the food is delicious.

We saw a Mahogany tree, amazing as over here in England we see mahogany furniture but not the tree it comes from. We were also priviledged to see the national tree of Jamaica in flower, the Lignum Vitae and also mangoes hanging over the fence. Please pay a visit here as it is well worth it and you will enjoy it.

Devon House is a cool place to kick back on a Sunday and walk around and have some Ice cream. Devon House is a historical site so it's a good place to walk around and learn the history.

The ice cream at Devon House was good. The gardens at the House was very immaculate and beautiful. There were also quite a number of other attractions at the place which was great as you could burn off the calories of the ice cream while browsing. These curio shops however were very expensive and I would. Ot buy anything there as you could find it elsewhere for cheaper.
