“Historic feel, great location, good price”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

Stayed two nights, while visiting Le Cap. Great spot to rest and use as base for trips to the different attractions nearby. Walking distance from the main square and in the historic district. Comfortable, old building, with all modern commodities, which seem even more so in these parts, surrounded by a peaceful garden. The pool is an oasis under the trees. Great breakfast included in room price.

Room Tip: They have new rooms but the old building has a more authentic and historic feel.

The property was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We stayed in a large room with five people, the beds were great, the staff were attentive and professional and the breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the swimming pool have nice balconies.

I really enjoyed the stay although I had to change my room because of molds. That is what one can expect from a hurricane belt or from the UK for that matter. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Internet in the rooms were a problem, and I really don't care about television although it would be nice to watch more local programme. What I cannot understand about Americans traveling to the Haiti and other places outside of the US they want US comfort and McDonald's. Then stay at home. When you travel, you should because you want to experience the local culture. On the hotel, I wish they have stronger tea, however, the kitchen steward went out back to the garden and picked me some bitter herbs which was just absolutely great. I know the herbs from Jamaica. I really like the atmosphere and with a little more training the staff will serve a little quicker.
I will go back in a breath. SPDK

Room Tip: Check shower, walls for damp or molds due to rainy season, and ensure the room is sprayed for mosqui...

I have traveled all over the world for work and pleasure and, considering the craziness of the city of Cap-Haitien, Hotel du Roi Christophe is an oasis. Beautiful foliage, birds, open air, good food and drinks. WiFi is fairly reliable, rooms clean and nice. Very cool old world feeling with modern amenities. If you are looking for Hilton or Marriott quality food and service, you shouldn't be in Haiti in the first place. But if you need a safe, clean, relaxing place -- this is the hotel for you. You may or may not have hot water -- but again, this is Haiti. Would definitely stay here again and will have fond memories of Roi Christophe!

Room Tip: I'm in room 17 and very satisfied.

1. Remember you are in Haiti.
2. The best grapefruit marmalade I have ever had was served at breakfast.
3. An Architect would love this place.
4. Great place for a fashion photoshoot.
5. Good A/C and fan as well.

This hotel has charm. I would stay there again.

My husband and I were there last January 2011.We stayed a Roi Christophe in 2008 for one week and everything was fine .We stayed one night last January to be closer to Airport and we found room were overpriced. We stayed in the older part...please avoid this section: very noisy at night, old, not complete windows so we had mosquitoes in the room all night! Very bad service at reception desk: the girl was so slow and did not know what she was doing, it took her 45 minutes to do a check-out..we missed our flight! Good chance,we were able to be re-booked for the the next flight (good thing it was same day!) .But food was very good and service very slow...but in the evening we were nut in a hurry but in the morning we were in a rush! This hotel is supposed to provide International standard and it does'nt.We found a better place to stay now while we are in Haiti.

Room Tip: ASk for a room in the newest part but more pricy.Do your check out he night before and pay cash for...

We stayed at this hotel about a week.
As we hadn't booked any room in advance, we first stayed at one of the suites in the new building. The room was very large, had a big balcony facing the swimming pool, was nicely furnished and decorated with taste, had a very stylish tiled bathroom with a rain shower, a large flat screen TV, a silent air con and a ventilator as well.
After a few days we unfortunately had to move to a room in the older building. This room was facing the street, so it was rather noisy during the day, but not at night.
Internet didn't work equally on all the corners of the hotel, but it worked well once you found a good spot.
The hotel is an old colonial building surrounded by lushy vegetation. There is a nice swimming pool and a stylish bar where you can sip a cocktail or drink a beer at night. The cocktails were excellent. There were cosy spots were you could retreat to. We too loved the rocking chairs on the terrace, where we sat in at night sometimes watching the coming and going.
Breakfast was fine and when taken on the sunbathed terrace in front of the hotel and surrounded by lushy vegetation was just great. The bread was just excellent at every meal.
Service was sometimes slow and not well coordinated.
We had dinner there twice and it was excellent (we had chosen 3 different dishes every time).

It's the hotel we liked most during our stay in Cap Haitien, because of the colonial atmosphere there and the love for details in the decoration of it.
