The Ideal Villa makes you feel you are on a tropical vacation, even if you are in Port-au-Prince. It is one of the prettiest hotels in the price range in Haiti, convenient, clean and friendly. You may be serenaded in the evenings by singing from the church next door - very relaxing after a noise-filled day. The only annoyance was extremely slow meal service - plan 1/2 a day for a lunch!
I was there for almost one month in August 2004. There we suffered with no a/c or light. When went to complain I received service after 2 hours of complaining. I go to haiti yearly and this was the worst experience at ideal villa hotel. I will think hard before going back there again.

nice, spacious Hotel. It's being renovated. What's interesting is the low price , about 15 us a day, but the interesting part is that you can rent appts on a yearly basis at low prices. Very tranquil.
Ideal Villa's best asset is probably its central location up in Delmas, just minutes from the international airport, halfway between downtown Port-au-Prince and swanky Petion-Ville. Its small and unimpressive pool is a welcoming and refreshing site after a day of hustling and bustling around town. Its welcoming staff keeps the tradition of impeccable Haitian service: the food (especially the Sunday morning pumkin soup) is divine, although a serving of white and hard-to-chew lambi (counch) was a disappointment. They cleaned my room and providided fresh sheets and towels everyday. They even changed my room to a bigger, quieter one when the tv in the first one malfunctioned. They deserve their tips, and could certainly use more.As far as hotels go in Haiti, the Ideal Villa is a very good deal for the price.
Ideal Villa has been my home away from home for over 20 years. seen it at a small stage, grow into the 23 room hotel that it is today. One thing that has never changed, is the up keep of this small hotel. You can be asured that you will receive the best and freindlyess service, of anywere in haiti. It has not arrived at the stage of a proffesional hotel but then again, maybe thats what makes Ideal Villa so special to many. The husband and wife team that started this small hotel, has always been family to arrive to in Haiti. Mrs. Jose' with a great flair of decor, has always been on top of things to see that the hotel is kept clean and very well decorated. I as one quest that has always felt at home at Ideal Villa...give it 5 stars....Roger
