“Great relaxing day”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Labadee offers a very relaxing experience for RCCL and X passengers. This complex is isolated from the rest of the island by a big fence and this kind of makes this a paradise in the middle of hell.

“The private cabanas on Labadee (Barefoot Beach) - Celebrity Cruises”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

As a suite holder on Celebrity's Silhouette (sailing from Ft. Lauderdale January 2013), we were privy to the cabanas of Barefoot Beach Club at our Port of Labadee Haiti. This was our favorite day of our 7 day voyage in the Western Caribbean. Our private cabana attendant provided excellent VIP service from Red Stripe beer to floating mats and snorkel gear. Celebrity provided the BBQ buffet within the confines of this private beach area. Cabanas options were available (hillside, over-water, beach front,) but ask early upon embarkation as there are only about 20. It really was a grand day. I would offer, however, the initial transportation from the pier to the exclusive entrance was poorly organized and the wait was too long. Had we known it was just a short walk, we would have just walked.
Each cabana has bottled water provided for 4 guests, electric outlets, and a ceiling fan. The restrooms are close by and an armband gains you re-entrance to the area. While there are MANY things to do on the island (zip line, coasters, shopping...) we never left our cabana beach! Cannot wait to visit again.

“Malfini Bay - Labadee - Perfect seclusion”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

My wife and I just returned from a RCC cruise and the only excursion we got through the cruise line was this one to Malfini Bay. It was $65pp and included the boat ride there, a fruity drink upon arrival, a chair and a floaty. We chose this trip after reading other reviews on Labadee as a whole and seeing that if there were several boats in at once the RCC compound could get quite crowded. We wanted something with fewer people...

This excursion had a limited amount of people on it by design, around 30-40 people. We had a very small beach to ourselves. The beach itself is completely secluded. It was surround by tall cliffs of green mountains. Absolutely gorgeous all around us. There was no music at our location, but we could hear music from a distance at another secluded beach spot. That was enough for us. They had plenty of local beer for $3 called Prestige. I guess it won a best beer competition last year in 2012 and also about 10 years before that. They also have other drinks, but I'm a 'local beer' drinker so i only got that.

I would not recommend this for those with kids. They will get bored. This seem to be best for couples. You could come in a large group to party to see if you could get them to run out of beer if you like, but you may get bored too. It's very very mellow.

“Labadee Tips and Important Information”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Our Royal Caribbean cruise ship stopped here last week. Here are some time-saving tips.
1. When your first walk off the boat, you will cross a concrete walkway and in thru a gate and then you will see a few small shops. Then you walk to the beach. You will start seeing the water, and lounge chairs. DO NOT stop at this first beach. It is fine just for laying out, but DO NOT attempt to swim here. The water is filled with very sharp rocks that will cut you. Just keep walking. You will then pass a large area of outdoor shopping, which is very nice, if you can stand all the locals trying to sell you things. Then you will see a big sign that directs you to several areas. This is a large place, don't be fooled into thinking it's just a small area. Read the sign and follow the directions to "Columbus Cove". It is less crowded here, has a great view of the ship, and has white POWDER SAND beaches. We had a terrific time here snorkeling. We saw hundreds of little fish and bigger angelfish. We wish we would've found this area first, instead of wasting time at that first rocky beach.
2. Bring your own snorkel and mask from home if you plan to snorkel. We did this. it was so much easier than wandering around looking for the rental place. Plus, you never know how well they clean those rental snorkels.
3. Bring lots of sunscreen. We couldnt find anywhere to buy any.
4. Bring some cash for shopping, and also tip the guy who will bring you a lounge chair. There are no ATM's there.
5. Don't forget your SeaPass. You can use it at the bars to charge drinks to your room. But the Seapass is not accepted by the local merchants selling souveniers.
6. Don't miss the buffet lunch! It was so good!! Yum!
7. Don't worry, it is safe here. We were kinda worried about going to Haiti, but this area is completely secure. Everyone who works there is an employee of Royal Caribbean. Except for the local merchants.
8.We were so impressed with this area. We did not do the zipline or the roller coaster, but everyone said its great.
9. Don't bother booking shore excursions, unless you don't like going to beaches. We met people who said their excursion was super duper boring. Plus, for some reason you are only there a short time. The boat lets people get off at 9 am, but you must be back on board by 2 pm. I don't know why this is.
