“Safer swimming near Levera”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

As the beach at Bathways is protected by a limestone reef, the sea is much safer to enter than at Levera. However, it is still quite restricted. Alot of local people go to Bathways, but mainly sit in the water and chat - it's not really for proper swimming. The seas on the the Atlantic side of the island are rougher than the Caribbean side, although we were told that seas in December are particularly rough, so it might be better at other times of the year. Also, do go to Aggie's if you get the chance - it overlooks the beach. Aggie is a real character and cooks great local food. The fried lambie was much better than I had eaten in an expensive hotel in the South

“Good to see but not the best beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

Great BBQ at one of the shacks on the beach, levera is much prettier than bathway, but you do pass it on the way there so worth a stop for the view.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2012

This a lovely beach to chill take a swim or have a bite to eat, BUT BEWARE cars have been broken into here, so never leave any valuables in the car and park where you can see it. Please read my review on Levera Beach you will be shocked !!

“don't miss Bathway Beach!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

Totally worth the drive to the north of the island - this beach has a natural reef that blocks the waves, leaving you with an amazing lagoon area in which to swim/lounge. Definitely a locals beach which was a nice change from Grand Anse. If you head up to Bathway for the day, definitely have lunch at the Heights, which is close by near Sateurs. There are a couple bars on the beach and I think you could buy bbq as well. Be sure to walk north where the beach is desserted and there is an amazing rock formation / secluded coves for your exploration!

“Nice beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2010

Do not expect a great bathing beach! Quite well-suited for young kids but for me the water is shallow, and swimming is restricted to the very middle of the beach due to offshore currents. Nice day out though. Small roadside shacks sell varying qualities of food including barbecue chicken and fried fish. There is also a small but excellent restaurant, "Aggie's" across the street. Bathway has public showers and toilet facilities and a small souvenir shop as well as housing the visitor centre for Levera National Park.
