“Excellent choice for relaxed stay”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

If you want to avoid busy hotel life Jenny's Place is the place to stay. Very private, spacious, well equipped rooms. There are different categories, all have more or less self-catering facilities. All have big balconies or patios towards the garden and the sea. There is a quiet little restaurant and bar at the hotel, right at the sea front. An apparently necessary fence is disturbing the view which is otherwise fantastic at sunset. You can take your drink and step to the beach. The personnel is very helpful and friendly. Security is good, there is a watchman during night on the premises. Bus stop very close. Next restaurant at Grand Anse beach is a 5 min. walk on the beach, the Coconut Beach which is also recommendable. Swimming at Grand Anse beach is phantastic, but not really in front of the hotel, but after a 5 Min. or more walk.At peak season there are cruise ship passengers transferred to the beach from St. George's, then the beach is very busy during a few hours. At 4 in the afternoon, the beach is empty again and you can watch the sunset almost on your own. We came here the second time and no regrets............

We were delighted that you chose to visit us a second time. Thanks so much for your kind comments. The fence to which you refer is as you say "necessary" to maintain security on a relatively busy beach. We look forward to your third and fourth visit.

Thank you from Management & Staff.

We stopped to have a couple of Gin & Tonics on our way home from a hot day @ the beach. My husband ordered, paid for and received small change for 2 drinks. As he was sitting and enjoying the drink the woman in the back, we assume the cook, came over to him and said the bartender had not charged us enough. He was asked to return to the bar and pay a little bit more and was quite annoyed; we promptly prepared to leave. But to get it off his chest, he told the woman a customer shouldn’t be treated like that and made to feel small. She said it was the bartender’s fault but wanted the few $EC anyway. Since he is a businessman himself & deals with estimates, the customer is always right & if you have to go out of your way once in awhile it is worth it to make a customer happy, then there is return business. I don’t know if the bar/restaurant is under separate ownership/management or not. I met Jenny several times years ago on the beach, talked to her and was really was impressed by the lovely way she came across in our encounters. That woman behind the counter really should be taught to smile and interact with customers, not made to feel like they are the fortunate ones to be served.

Also missing are Jenny's photos and the lovely sign on the gate that was always a welcome sight!

Tired of standard restaurants? Then take a break and go to Jenny's for a break from standard dishes. Jenny's is a must on every tourist's travels for simple but basic food. I found it when 'walking' Grand Anse Bay and thought 'just a shack' on the beach - but approach from the dirt track road off the main road and you get a totally different view of a small but delightful restaurant serving excellent simple food from a short menu. The staff are delightful, concerned but not intrusive.
A truly excellent place.

Hello Scorchin:

Glad you found our restaurant which is, as you say, somewhat of a secret when compared with the other bigger and better known ones in Grenada. Our emphasis continues to be quality local and international food. Our staff will be very encouraged that you enjoyed the cuisine and recommend the Oasis to other prospective guests.

Thanks for taking the time to let others know about the Oasis restaurant at Jenny's Place. .

Hoping to see you soon again.

Our January 2013 stay at Jenny's Place was a pleasant, relaxing experience. The room was large and comfortable. The location at the north end of Grand Anse beach is superb. It is located near a minivan stop that will wisk you to St. Georges or south toward Lance Aux E'Pines in just minutes. Ann, whose official title I do not know, is a marvel of multi-tasking and doing whatever is possible to make you comfortable. Each evening she brought us breakfast of a plate of fruit (ripe and delicious), cheese, cereal, bread for the toaster, butter and milk. There is coffee and tea available in the room. She also found us a terrific taxi driver who we booked for one entire day and went to Belmont Estate, Grenville nutmeg plant, River Antoine Rum factory, Annadale falls, Grand Etang and the funky Mr. Rome's Museum. Ricky was both a good driver and very informative.. Oh, and did I mention the view from the balcony of our Hibiscus suite was to die for. All things considered, a stay at Jenny's Place is sure to satisfy any traveler.

Room Tip: If you don't mind stairs, the three upstairs rooms have ocean facing balconies high enough to se...

Small and friendly B&B apartments with steps onto Grand Anse Beach. Apartments are spacious, with fridge, microwave and TV, our first floor room had a sea view. It’s also ideally located close to St Georges, Port Louis and the Airport.

Ann, Dottie and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helped us make the best of the stay.
The restaurant served delicious food and the menu changed regularly, there were also nice restaurants along the beach.

In summary we found Jenny’s’ Place an ideal spot to relax after a couple of weeks sailing.

I’m a Montreal writer and sailor and a first-time “snowbird” – that breed of sixty-plus Canadians who escape Canada’s harsh winters for warmer climes. After dismissing the usual venues of Florida (too boring) and Arizona (no sailing), I decided on the Caribbean, where many years ago I’d spend six months sailing and exploring the Leeward and Windward islands.

For this winter’s getaway I decided on Grenada, recalling my fondness for both its super friendly people and its diversity (white beaches, great snorkeling, rainforests, waterfalls, and interesting historic sites).

But where to stay for the next four months? My main requirement was that it had to be a reasonably priced fully-contained apartment on the beach, and with internet access. After some searching, Jenny’s Place seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been here only two weeks now, and it has proven to be even better than I expected.

Jenny’s Place, at the north end of Grand Anse beach, is relatively small (compared to the high-priced resort hotels further down the two-mile beach), but superbly operated under the management of Ann, a delightfully cheerful Grenadian who, with her equally cheerful assistant Dottie, immediately made me feel at home on this beautiful property.

My spacious Bougainvillea apartment is a mere 150–foot stroll through a well-tended garden to the beach. A short barefoot walk down the beach brings me to a dive and sailing shop where I occasionally rent a Hobie Cat to satisfy my sailing craving. A further hike down the beach brings me to an access road where, donning my shoes, I walk a few hundred yards to the Spiceland Mall shopping center that boasts an IGA supermarket rivaling almost any at home - the exception being that this IGA also carries wines and spirits.

To the north of Jenny’s Place is the Grenada Yacht Club, immediately south of the town of St. George’s. I can either walk there (40 minutes) or take the local bus for a buck. The club is a fun place to hang out, gaze at the multi-million-dollar mega-yachts across the way in the Port Louis yacht basin, have an inexpensive lunch, and trade seafaring yarns with fellow sailors from all around the world.

After a late lunch there and a stroll through parts of St. George’s, I return by bus to my base at Jenny’s Place and the waterside Tiki bar where the specialty is their potent rum punch and where Sheryl can make you a drop-dead Piña Colada. The adjoining restaurant also serves lunch and dinner. I’ve had only two meals there (so many restaurants in the area to choose from). Both, cooked by Abigail, were scrumptious.

Perhaps my one complaint about Jenny’s Place is that it’s a venue far more conducive to relaxing, socializing and exploring than to disciplined writing. I’ll have to work on that…… mañana.

Room Tip: Any room with an ocean or garden view (which is almost all of them)

We are really pleased that you are enjoying your stay at Jenny's Place. Our Canadian friends are particularly welcome and we feel very honoured to have a resident author as a guest.

Your descriptive note is particularly welcome as it may answer many of the questions about Jenny's Place and also about Grenada and its people for other potential guests. Grenada does offer a different experience for many persons. Some would describe it as unique.

I take this opportunity to wish you a productive season of writing and continued enjoyment at Jenny's Place.

Kindest regards.
