“Great Expereince”

Stayed at the Kalinago Resort in September 2013. When we got there the receptionist was very warm and welcoming, we even got our room upgraded without cost because it was my birthday weekend. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.Absolutely a great hotel to stay at, mainly because of the gorgeous view from the room as well as its directly on Mon Rouge beach, which is one of the best beaches in Grenada. My bf and I got up one morning, and went snorkeling, which was absolutely breath taking as the fishes there were very pretty. A must stay if you are looking for Grenada as your next visit.

the hotel is right on the most beautiful beach of the island; staff is very friendly and helpful; room was clean and obviously with an amazing view. It's great that all rooms have a balcony and sea view. Would love to go back soon!

We stayed here at the beginning of a two week trip in Grenada, and were happy with it in almost every way. We made the decision to book here based on previous reviews and most of them were accurate. This was also our fourth trip to Grenada, so we had some understanding of what to expect.

Rather than repeat other reviewers remarks, I just want to highlight the features of this hotel. First, it's really convenient. Right on the Morne Rouge Beach, and I mean ON it, not near it, close to it, within walking distance. Also about a 10 minute walk to the southern end of Grand Anse Beach, and a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Spiceland Mall. I, too, don't understand some previous reviewer's complaints about walking up the back hill. I can't even imagine how someone could think that was the only way to get around.

We had a room on the third (top) floor, with a great view. One of the things we really liked is that even though the rooms had a typical sliding door without screens onto the porch, right next to it was a window you could open that had a screen in it. So you could leave a window open at night (even if you ran the A/C like we did :) and hear the ocean without worrying about mosquitoes.

The rooms, while not fancy, are clean, and everything--A/C, hot water, refrigerator, etc. worked like they were supposed to without any problems.

The beach itself is great, not crowded at all except when the mini buses dropped off cruise ship passengers late morning. So if you are there in peak season, the trick is to use the beach either before they arrive or after they leave, and it will be virtually empty.

The only minor bump is that right now the food in the restaurant is not fabulous. It's decent but nothing to write home about, although it does seem from a couple of small conversations we had with the staff that it might be in transition right now and could change. The restaurant staff, as well as the office staff, was extremely helpful and polite.

The hotel has various beach gear which they allow you to use at no extra charge.

Nearby are two other restaurants are Sur la Mer, which is a beach bar that also serves local food. The food is pretty good, although if you go there when the crowds from a cruise ship are thronging the counter, expect to fight to get the attention of one of the staff and wait a while for your food!

A couple of doors up is a relatively new restaurant Sangria, whose staff is primarily Venezuelan. The food is pretty good and puts a mild Latin spin on your typical seafood, but the highlight is their view and terrace, which is extremely pleasant (and not crowded) for a drink at sunset or a meal later.

The Kalinago is definitely a good place to start or end a trip to Grenada, or spend a few days at, due to it's comfort and reasonable cost, and it's closeness to the airport.

Room Tip: We liked the third floor, best views.

This hotel is in a secluded area on Mourne Rouge Beach. There is only one other hotel on this beach and several nearby making it a great place for families. Breakfast and lunch were good and fairly reasonable. Only one non-hotel restaurant nearby-the Sangria which has a limited menu with excellent food, good service, and a great view of the beach. This hotel requires a taxi to get any place including shopping centers and St. George. The rooms have a balcony with chairs. This hotel is right on the beach. Water is warmer than the pool. Taxi fares will vary so check with the hotel. Service at this hotel was excellent with good air conditioning with adequate draw space. The negatives-no elevator so if you are handicapped make sure you ask for a room on the first floor, lighting could be better. Make sure you ask for a refrigerator for cold drinks from the supermarket.

This was our first time in Grenada. We came across this hotel and it was recommended by some of our friends. We arrived on the 8:30 p.m. flight and the hotel is 10-15 minutes from the airport. Check in is welcoming and the rum punch is a nice treat. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. We had a second floor room with a spectacular view of the beach. The bartenders Donella, Nikisha and Harry were all very friendly and accommodating. The beach is very nice and quiet and great for relaxing. The prior reviews talked about the walk up the hill but if you walk the beach and go around it is not that bad and you can be to Grand Anse in 10-15 minutes and the scenery on the way is very nice. You can see across the bay to St George, many great photo ops along the way. The IGA across the road from Grand Anse in the Spice Island Mall is the place to go for supplies. There is a restaurant on the way called Sangria very nice for an evening sunset meal. We have no complaints about this hotel and would go back in a heartbeat. We met so many people, locals and tourists and all were friendly and helpful. Also have to recommend Tom Sanderson at Grenada Land and Sea Taxi and Tours Services for a trip to all the sights around the island or even a taxi to a local restaurant. He is very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating, just ask the hotel to get you in touch with him. We also took the bus around very inexpensive and interesting, you just have to have an adventurous spirit. I would say the only thing would be to avoid St George on a Friday as things can get really busy and traffic does get congested. We also went to fish Friday, Tom being our guide and driver very nice local event with reasonably price seafood. This is also something that should be done if you have the time. Thanks Again to the Kalinago Resort for a great vacation as well as all the wonderful people we met along the way. We hope to come back to your hotel and the wonderful island of Grenada.

We found this beach last year on a day trip from a cruise, loved it and on our return booked it for this year.
Kalinago does exactly what we wanted it to do. Excellent room, well air conditioned, immaculately clean and the staff were so helpful.
Having looked at trip advisor we decided to B&B. We ate out most nights which gave us the opportunity of seeing the Island, however we did eat in the dining room and returned 5 times. They have a new chef, Max, and he is good. The barman Harry was very very obliging, Donella was charming and so helpful, in fact all the staff made our stay perfect. Little things like online check in and printing out boarding passes just makes the holiday more relaxing. Thanks go to Julia & Jalil for managing our Top Spot….we will return.

Room Tip: We had a room on the top floor simply for the best view over the bay. All rooms face the beach and a...

A wonderful place to stay in what must be the best location on the island. The staff and locals were great and the atmosphere in the hotel very friendly. A fairly steep slope to and from this location keeps out most of the masses from grand anse so it is generally very peaceful but unless you are particularly unfit or infirm you can walk to the shops in about 20 mins. I had conversations with the owner and her family who run the hotel fantastic people and very knowledgeable about the island in particular and the world in general. Just a final point, I cant quite understand some of the negative reports on this place (we have all met people who you just cant please) and think it is best to ignore the illiterate ravings in some reviews
