“Beautiful setting. Wonderful Caring Staff”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

This was our 2nd visit to Grenada as we are keen divers. D20 (Devotion 2 Ocean) who are based at Rex Resorts picked us up from Kalinago Beach by boat and took us diving. Resort is well situated for some brilliant dive sites. You will not get a better dive team than D2O some really diverse diving and lots of fun with the staff.

We chose a smaller hotel as we decided we wanted to get more of a taste of Grenada than you do being in a large All Inclusive hotel. The Kalinago Beach is in a lovely setting the rooms are stunning with gorgeous views, all the staff were very helpful and friendly. Plenty of restaurants around and not far from Grand Anse beach if you want to explore. Towards the end of our holiday I broke my ankle whilst on a boat. We got moved to a ground floor room right next to the bar and pool and all the staff were so attentive which made it possible to enjoy the last couple of days.

Room Tip: Top Floor rooms are the best

We have visited Grenada on a number of occasions as we have family living on the island. This time we decided to stay at Kalinago as we have visited BBC beach many times and know what a fabulous location it is. We were not disappointed. Kalinago Beach Resort lived up to our expectations. The location could not be bettered with the sea lapping just 30 metres away from our ground floor room. Our balcony area opened up on to one of the prettiest lush gardens full of red and yellow beautiful flowers. I spent many hours watching the humming birds collecting nectar and the stunning emerald coloured lizards of all sizes basking in the sun. Other interesting wading birds could be seen on the beach as well as frigate birds gliding overhead. The swimming pool was just a stone's throw away along with the pool bar which has a swim up section. BBC Beach is very popular with locals and although quiet during the week comes alive at weekends and public holidays. It was buzzing on May Day and we had a very lively time. There is also a small bar at the far end of the beach set back amongst the trees. This only opens on Saturdays and Sundays and is run by Rocky who's a great character. It is safe to bathe and there is plenty of (much needed) shade from the trees. From the moment we arrived the service at the hotel was exemplary with everyone from reception to housekeeping etc going the extra mile to help. All the staff were so friendly and would smile and wave everyday. Some people might find a hire car useful but we were happy to take on the steep hill and walk over to Grand Anse and to the shopping mall - both of which are accessible to reasonably fit people. The drinks prices are a little expensive but there are plenty of other options on Grand Anse or around the island. There is a small coffee maker in the room and coffee, milk, sugar etc are available from reception. There is also a small fridge. This is useful for making your own breakfast of fruit or whatever. I would thoroughly recommend this place and will definitely return. We found a great deal online at the beginning of the year and I'm looking forward to finding another next year.

Room Tip: We liked the ground floor rooms owing to their accessibility to the beach (early morning swims) and...

This place is a dream. The service was top-notch, everyone went out of their way everyday to make sure the trip was perfect. From reception to housekeeping to the restaurant and bar, every person was professional, extremely friendly, and super helpful. It was my birthday while we were there and they brought balloons and fresh flowers to the room....a super-nice touch that was much appreciated! The location is fantastic, right on a beautiful small beach that was never crowded. Just a short walk over the hill is Grand Anse beach with restaurants and dive shops, a great option if you want to get out and do things and then return to the tranquility of the hotel in the evening. Sunsets from the beach and upper floor rooms are magical.

Don't miss the beach BBQ, it is scrumptious. We also had the opportunity while we were there to participate in the preparation (and consumption :)) of an "oil down"....a traditional stew made with meat, fish and dumplings. My fiance loves to cut, and this was definatly a highlight for him! We typically ate lunch over on Grand Anse, there are a few really good places there (Coconut Beach bar and Umbrellas were our favourites) but breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel were very good as well. There is a managers reception with great hors doevres and drinks and you have the opportunith to meet the owner, who is wonderful, warm and charming.

I can't say enough good about this hotel, the island, and the people. We travel extensively in the Carribean and i would say that Grenada and the Kalinago are at the top of my list!

Room Tip: The third floor (which is actually called the 2nd floor) offers the best unobstructed views of the b...

First trip to Grenada with a college buddy and stayed at Kalinago for a week. The service there was fantastic, and the workers typically very friendly and helpful. The rooms were well kept and the beach cleaned up every mroning; service at the bar and restaurant was good. I would have to say that prices were typically a little higher than I expected but for slightly cheaper meals you can go over a few steps to the sur la mer restaurant (good lobster as well roti there).
I would recommend it as a place for folks who want to relax and not venture very far (if you dont rent a car). I have driven on the left before but drive on the right at home in New York City and while I am use dto erratic drivers, the state of the roads (narrowness/# of switchbacks) gave me pause when considering a rentacar in Grenada.
While the beach in front of the hotel was quite nice, the beach on the other side of the hill (grande anse) was just amazing. The hotel beach had some shells when you first get in and required that you navigate around clumps of seagrass. But it seemed typically warmer than Grande Anse and was usually much less crowded.
I have read on TA and even while there heard about the great deals on rooms at kalinago-- If I could find one of those I would not hesitate to stay there again...

Room Tip: all rooms face the beach- I would be tempted to say ask for the 2nd floor (a few steps and probably...

I grabbed this deal off of another travel website... This hotel is only a couple of years old. Fabulous and friendly staff. Very clean, the pool and beach georgous, as it is a cove. The location is both great and not so great, depending on your preference. We don't like staying in the mist of hustle and bustle and were looking forward to peace and quiet....it is! Tranquil.....downfall is that it is a ways from the main town, the buses drop you off at the bottom of quite a jaunt to get you to the resort( uphill), but taxi is $20usd. They offer a great restaurant on site, swim up bar, kayaks and complimentary beach towels, beds a bit creaky

Located right on BBC beach. Large, very comfortable rooms. We had a ground floor room so we could walk right from our balcony about 40 feet to beach. The bar and food service were good. Breakfast was a little limited in terms of fruit but they had lovely local, freshly squeezed juices. Dinner was good especially beach BBQ night. BBC beach is a little quieter than Gran Anse. A car might be a good idea since there is quite a hill to walk up to get out of Morne Rouge Bay - although many people were walking it. All in all a good, local hotel at a very competetive rate.
