“Great views of Grenada and its History”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

Panoramic views of the St Georges area and most of southern island. Lots of history on site. Had a great tour from Alice (from Wonderland, as she put it). Use a local guide to take you through the Fort and explain the views, the history, the details. Well worth finding the Fort entrance and taking a few hours to enjoy the site.

“Fort Frederick and Fort Matthew. Breathtaking views within close reach.”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Hello Everyone,

I wrote a review of Fort Frederick and Fort Matthew (they are right next to one another) on my blog. It includes pictures and information (driving directions).

The forts are close to downtown Grenada are are definitely worth visiting. The views are amazing.

Here is the link to my entry:

“The Best Place for a View”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

If you want a beautiful view of St. George's, the Caribbean, Grand Anse, and the mountains...go here. High up on the island, there is no better place. The guard station is often empty so you can go in free of charge but don't accept any tours...they are most likely not affiliated with the fort in any way and just trying to rip you off. If you do wish to take one, be sure to agree to a price up front and before they start anything or you may be unpleasantly surprised.

“information with a view”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

On the crazy roads with the strange round abouts that consist of only a stack of tires in the middle, the fort was easy to find. If you have a guide, it's probably easier, but the driving part was part of the adventure and the locals seem to recognize tourists and cut yu some slack. The 360 views are beautiful. And if you want to see Fort Matthew is is about 200 yards away. Our guide, Alice, was nice and the first person to ever tell us that they loved Americans. Only takes about 15-30 minutes to tour.
