“Interesting.....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2014

Beautiful from a distance but not what we had expected, interesting place to visit but do not expect a Mediterranean style harbour with lots of pretty shops, cafes & bustle. we went in the evening but it is a working harbour, perhaps this was not the best time to visit but we went to loads of other places that were much nicer.

“Sit and watch life - and the ships - pass by!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2014

They call it 'liming' - just idling around watching life pass by! Take a stroll from the Sendall Tunnel, passed BB's Crabback and the Nutmeg Restaurants (the food mall next door is the cheapest place to buy Grenada chocolate). Turn the corner towards the German food restaurant and you come to the statue of 'Christ of the Deep', donated to the island by the Costa Cruise company in gratitude for their help and friendliness of the islanders when the cruise liner 'Bianca C' sank off the island in 1961.

Carry on passed the fire station and at the end of the waterside walk you'll find the official tourist info office tucked away down a side turning. A 10-15 stroll back, past the local shops and you will have earned a cool beer at the Nutmeg or at BB's!

The Carenage is a working harbour so don't expect a manicured and immaculate setting geared up for tourists. The harbour is populated with fishing boats, inter-island cargo vessels and catamarans (power and sail) that run whale watching cruises and 'party' boats.

It's as good a place as any to absorb the local sights and sounds.

“waterside”

This area of St Georges gave an insight into what the area would have been like before the advent of the cruise ships arriving and dropping hundreds of tourists. Much more the work side of the Harbour.

“Lovely scenic view walking along the Carenage”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2014

I thought it was lovely walking along the Caranage and up the side streets to have a look round some of the shops. If you're in Grenada then you will want to come here!! :)
