Service was exceptional from the moment we walked in the door. Felt the staff was very attentive and helpful. The decor was lovely. We had a cocktail in a lovely seating area. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Lobster special and the steak -- wonderful. The complimentary pickup and drop off was appreciated.

Returned to the Rhodes restaurant at the Calabash on our recent visit to Grenada. We were very unimpressed by the service - the courtesy car failed to turn up until we had made two phone calls to chase, it took them 30 minutes to serve four glasses of champagne, we were not offered menus until we asked, we had to ask to place our orders - in all it took nearly an hour from our (late) arrival to being seated at our table. There seemed to be too few waiting staff for the number of tables and they were run off their feet. We did not enjoy being served by a waiter who had beads of sweat rolling off his forehead!
Food was fine. decent seafood and steak off the Rhodes menu but some items on the small daily specials menu were not available - why have that menu if they are not going to be able to supply it on request?
Finally, staff at a restaurant of this claimed standing should not vanish with a client's credit card for twenty minutes when the bill is being settled. They should bring a portable credit card machine to the table.

Having got your attention let me say immediately that the location of the restaurant on Prickly Harbour is perfect, the restaurant itself well laid out and gleams with glass and silver, the food excellent on both menus and the service slick and timely. Expensive, yes EC$325 for two, by Island standards but worth it for a night out.
But ".....restaurant staff have been fully trained by Gary and the majority have obtained C and G qualifications."
You don't reach across guests to pour water; you put plates in from the left and remove from the right; you don't stack and scape plates in front of guests; you spend times cleaning the table cloth and do not give it a cursory swipe, and, when you slop coffee in the saucer as you put it down you get a clean saucer.
Picky, yes because the restaurant boasts of its high standards; guess the C and G examiners have been forgotten.
Te service glitches became a source of amusement to us as we enjoyed what I have said was a great meal. Thoroughly recommended for a special night out

Nice venue at a good hotel - the clientele are 'mature' I would say....
Service was very good and friendly. Cocktails served with small appetisers was a nice touch.
Food was fine - not great - but very nice.
Steel drums playing some 'middle of the road favourites' in the background.
Complimentary pick up/drop off to other hotels is a bonus.
Not amazing but a pleasant enough evening

Staying at the Calabash Hotel (for the third time) we enjoyed the Rhodes restaurant several times in the three weeks we were there. Although Gary Rhodes is not actually there (surprise!), his reputation is not diminished by the quality of the meals served here. The menu does not change often, apart from the daily specials (created by Head Chef Dexter Burris), and I would recommend you to go for these as a preference. The soups are exquisite, and the combination of first class cuisine with a Caribbean twist, allied to the excellent service provided by Michael and his team, makes for a great evening. There is usually musical entertainment provided too to complete the ambience.
