Stayed here for 2 weeks with my wife. Paid a small extra for a sea-view room, which was definitely worth it - amazing!!!
Was initially a bit sceptic about the all-inclusive concept, but quickly adapted as the buffet food was really good (and amazing for x-mas and new years). The 3 a la carte restaurants were also very good, as were the cocktails in the lobby bar. Everyone was very friendly - especially the animation team! Good fun!!!

Our five day stay at the hotel was comfortable and entertaining. The hotel has a great location right on a peninsula. There are daily and nightly activities. The staff is courteous and the food is good too. I took trips everyday arranged through the hotel an had good experiences. The hotel room location is an important decision as you can get very varied views, so be careful during check in. We were allocated a nice room that was serviced daily.

Overall, it's a hotel that does not have a white sand beach with blue ocean, like some resorts in Punta cana, however, it makes up with its proximity to rolling hills, islands and bays.

Just returned from 3 weeks at this hotel and i really cannot understand some of the negative reviews ??i think the biggest problem is some people do not do their homework before booking a hotel or are rival hotels making other hotels look bad ?.
so here is my honest review through my eyes.
ROOM
our room was a standard room in the main hotel,it consisted of a large king size bed,2 bedside cabinets, table with 2 wicker chairs, large unit for the fridge and TV to rest on and 2 sets of drawers, large double wardrobe which included the safe, clock radio, hairdryer, coffee maker, bathroom included Jacuzzi bath with shower.
balcony had table and 2 chairs and a rack for drying clothes.
bowl of fruit on arrival.
fridge was re-stocked every day with 2 x beer, water, lemonade, coke and orangeade.
maid cleaned room daily sometimes leaving flower arrangements on the bed.

we had a problem with our room 545 which faced over the town as there was so much noise from the music in town most of the night, after 3 nights we could not stand it and asked to change rooms which were done instantly with no fuss.
we then was at the back of the hotel room 421 with a sea view so quiet and wonderful.

HOTEL
this resort was absolutely spotless with people cleaning all the time, all the staff are so friendly and most speak some English.
the resort consists of 2 beach's, 3 pools,3 x a al cart restaurants, snack bar and a buffet restaurant,6 x bars with very good drinks for a all inclusive, disco and gym.
the hotel is located on a cliff top so there is a lot of steps to tackle but most areas are reached via the hotel shuttle so you don't have to walk.
there is also a free shuttle into town (10 min) walk.
main beach has a elevator to it where there is a beach bar and water sport centre.
smaller beach has the 2 quiet pools, jetty and snack bar.
A LA CART
there are three a la cart restaurant
Mediterranean. we found the food was not good, staff were slow and not very happy and the place smelled fishy.
gourmet...we liked this place the food was good especially the steak which was as good as anywhere in the UK,the staff were always happy and service was good.
Italian...never tried this as we both don't like Italian food.

SNACK BAR....
food was good great choice and a coffee machine or you can have a cold drink at the bar.
service good staff always look after you.

BUFFET RETAURANT
this is by far the best all inclusive buffet I have been to,unbelievable amount of choice something for everyone, staff always looking after you your glass never goes empty and your plates removed sometimes before you finish if you leave table for a minute.
nice background music to eat too.
only problem here I would say is the food is never really hot only warm (although there is a microwave if needed).

DISCO
this is a really small place which was quite smelly and always quite empty,a load of people would sit outside drinking as it stays open until 02.00. the barman always put too much spirits and not enough mixers.

TOWN
the hotel provides a free hourly shuttle to town although it is only 10 min walk down but you need the shuttle for return as the hill is long.
some people complained of the hassle but I never encountered any.just be firm and say NO if your not interested they will not do anything bad to you for refusing.
I had a few nice walks around the town and seafront meeting some nice Dominican people and never spent a penny I did not want to.

STAFF
all the staff spoke some English and they do appreciate you trying to learn a little Spanish, they are very overworked so a little patience don't go amiss.
far too many outstanding people but to mention a few daddy's,alba and Brenda in the buffet.
Manuel+victor in the lobby bar
victor in the snack bar
thanks guys.
the weather was hot but it did rain quite a bit during our three weeks mostly around PM for about 20 min's.
worst day was Xmas eve when it rained mostly all day.

the only excursion we did was a fishing trip with Raymond+Gregory on the beach which was good value for money.
we spent most of our time fishing from the jetty or the bridge to nowhere which is well worth a walk over and NO you wont get pestered here we hardly even saw any locals except the ones fishing too.
we also enjoyed playing pool most evenings.

to sum up this was a excellent value for money hotel and one of the best all inclusive's we have been to.

tip to the hotel more clocks around the resort as we don't all bring watch's on holiday.

only downside is the long trip from porta platta on the bus after a 8 hr flight so come on Thompson sort it out !!!!

Room Tip: don't book a room overlooking town as the music may keep you up all night

We returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel. We have been to Dominican before, but nothing compares to this location. We travelled with Air Canada. I would not recommend their service. The service on this fight was not the best and they don't offer you food without paying. The only good thing about Air Canada was their hotel representative. His name is Joel, he met us at the bus, gave us the meeting on the bus along with our cards to our room. If you have any questions Joel is always there to answer you in many languages.

The hotel itself is very clean, yes many stairs but you have shuttles and elevator to the beach. The beach is small , we spend most of our time and the second pool which was quiet, there is snack bar and washrooms close by.

Our room was always very clean. The cleaning ladies did an excellent job. We tipped her a dollar every day and could not ask for better.

The excursion people from the hotel are nice but could be annoying at times. I recommend you go down to the beach to your left and talk to a man named Raymond, he will arrange an excursion for you for half the price the hotel would charge.

Downtown shopping was nice to see. If you feel harassed , just tell them to go away and they will leave you alone. If you need extra assistance in town, ask for Michael, he works in a store next to the Orange store. He got us our to the country on a scooter and we had dinner at his house which was memorable and very nice.

The food at this hotel is good, I didn't hear of anyone getting sick at this resort. You won't have to bring anything with you, you will find almost anything you want at this hotel. For the A la Cares, I would recommend the Gourmet, they had a nice steak with pepper sauce. A big thank you to Raymond who is the food and beverage manager. He is very professional and always pleasant to talk with.

Only thing this resort needs to improve in is the entertainment t and the language. Most workers have very little English, be patient they are trying.

To whoever is going to this resort, you will have a great time!!

Idyllic setting, great views, grand and well-kept main building, good food, BUT not the place to go if you want a quiet environment. Loud and often unnecessary music plays all day and evening in the public areas, together with over-amplified announcements and commentaries from the activity staff especially around the main pool. Even at the so-called quiet pool the bar staff play local music on their radio.

The a la carte restaurants are a pretentious waste of time - no atmosphere, questionable service and disappointing, sometimes poor, food. In the gourmet restaurant I had to order three different wines before finding one which was in stock. The main buffet restaurant is always better.

Service in the lobby bar is variable, as are the staff - some of them are not at all friendly. There should be a self-service beer pump as in many AI resorts to reduce the queues. Drink quality is quite good for AI, although spirit measures can be erratic.

Rooms are clean, and the AI deal represents good value, but don’t go if you just want to hear the waves crashing on the beach.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking the main pool have the best view but avoid them if you want quiet during the...

We recently stayed for two weeks at the GBPC and had a great time. Our room was in the main hotel on the 3rd floor and the views were spectacular, by far much better than any other country/resort we have been to. There are a ton of stairs, so if you don’t like climbing it’s not the place for you. We enjoy walking the beach and/or around the resort and it’s really not possible here as the steps are quite difficult in the heat. It was more than 200 steps from the lower pool to our room; which was our option as we could have went to the main pool but chose the quieter pool.

The food is plentiful and of a good standard for an AI. The gourmet restaurants are very good and the waiters will change the menu around for you with no problems.

The entertainments team work very hard and we had a great time playing water volleyball most days.

The bar staff work very hard but I have to mention the tall guy (and I can’t remember his name) in the lobby bar was rude and obnoxious and we weren’t alone with our opinion; 3 couples from England and one couple from Ontario mentioned it to us also. The other issue with the bars was that they always ran out of champagne by 9pm and the only bar it was available at was the lobby bar, which was a total disappointment. I even asked the bar manager and he said when it’s gone it gone.

The maid service was great with our room always kept clean, towel art on occasion and at a reasonable time.

This hotel is exceptional value for money, especially since we booked last minute and got a great deal, and I would not hesitate to recommend it. We loved the fact that it was an adult only resort also. Go and enjoy

We are just back from GBP Cayacoa.
This was the best vacation ever!
Beautiful view!
Great service, great food! Restaurants we visited were funny and did not worth to go - buffet is much better.
Beds were comfy, not too hard, even pillows :)
Beach very nice, enough shadows and beach beds, the sea was just perfect!
This hotel is definitely for people who need relaxation and quiet staying, no much activities, I was very happy this one was adults only, so quiet!

Staff was very friendly and helpful.
We tipped people - they really deserve a little extra from you, they work hard and doing everything to make your vacation as you wish it to be.
I would be back and would recommend it this hotel to couples or singles, who is looking for relaxing and comfortable vacation.

Room Tip: Main building with sea view room.
